This is the only place I like my kapoon from. However, everything at Sea Hut will hit the spot.Kapoon 5/5*When they had their old sister location, Sea Bowl, their kapoon was by far my favorite out of all the places that I've ever ate kapoon. Kapoon is curry based, and most places make it too salty or too much curry flavor. This one was perfectly balanced and on the sweeter, creamier side, with more coconut milk. After they closed their sister location and only kept Sea Hut open, which only served sandwiches at the time, I was so bummed. But post pandemic, I was thrilled to find they now serve all the soups from the other location again. The kapoon slightly changed..spicier and with different noodle options and add ons such as bamboo, gizzards, or pork blood. I tried it with gizzards and it added a different texture to the soup. Overall, still my all-time favorite spot for kapoon.Nam Khao 5/5*Perfectly crunchy, perfectly seasoned with a sweet and salty fish sauce flavor that isn't too pungent or overwhelming. Nice large chunks of Nam that you can actually taste.Beef Stew 5/5*Comfort food at its best. Cambodian beef stew is almost identical to Vietnamese Bo Kho, and this one reminds me of the flavors of childhood. The broth is rich with beefy flavor from the tender chunks of meat, balanced out with sweet carrots and onions.Lemongrass Chicken Sandwich 5/5*I'm hard to please when it comes to bánh mì. Chicken, pickled papaya, spicy mayo? I was skeptical at first with the deviations from original banh mi, but this combination works so well. The lemongrass really shines through, the grilled chicken was juicy, pickled veggies are tart and abundant, and the most important part, the bread, was soft with a thin toasted crispy outer layer.I've come here countless times and have tried a variety of their menu and so far everything here is delicious. Also, don't miss out on the chef's creative special dish, which rotates around holidays or so and is posted on Instagram. Their food definitely is comforting and tastes like home cooking.

We ordered and went to pick up. Food was so good!We got shrimp rolls, beef skewers, and beef stew. Food is fresh and hot! I love the skewers, and how they wrap them in foil! It was still hot after our ride home! I also got the pickled veggies.Service was quick and nice!We will definitely return!

This place has been on my to try list to try for a while now and today my husband and I decided to finally try it. When you first walk in it's pretty small and cute, which is expected as most Thai restaurants are small. We were seated immediately and water was brought out. The staff was friendly and came to check on us every so often, refilling our water and whatnot. Which I really appreciate. My husband ordered the lunch special stuffed angel wings with a side of sticky rice. It came with a side of dipping sauce which was pretty good but a little on the sour side. The angel wings were very flavorful but my husband said it was a little too herby for him from the holy basil. It also came with a choice of 1 piece of fried cream cheese wonton or chicken egg roll. He chose the cream cheese wonton. Those are never disappointing. I got the beef larb (raw). I love raw beef larb so any Thai or Laos restaurant I go to, if they offer it I always get it to try. The flavor was more on the sour side and it wasn't bitter at all. I don't mind as I do like it a little sour too. I wasn't sure if bitter was an option as it wasn't stated in the menu. It also doesn't come with tripe which is usually traditional in larb. But it's not bad. It also came with an egg roll or cream cheese wonton. I chose the chicken roll. The egg roll was really good. I took 2 bites and gave the rest to my 2 year old. He killed it. I also ordered a side of sticky rice with the larb, which is a must! We also got Lao style papaya. Out of all the food we got, I would have to say the papaya was the best. I also love that it comes with a side of vermicelli noodles, peanuts, cabbage and fried pork skin. It was delicious. Overall, this place was decent. Next time I go back I'll try their kapoon which seems to be very popular.

Service was great & I loved my kapoon. It was a little too hot for me so I asked for extra limes which they gave me. Others ordered the loaded fries and they were tasty but not really my thing. Two people ordered the laab but didn't care for it. I think that's the way it was supposed to be - just not what they were expecting. One person ordered the SEA box and he loved it and it looked delicious.

The place is located in a plaza with a good amount of parking. I went for their reverse happy hour which was from 7-8pm which is right before their closing time. I met up with some friends who got there before me. I arrived around 7:15 but I feel like the service wasn't that great and me and my friends who arrived a little later had difficult getting the server's attention to order. We ordered some small appetizers from the happy hour menu and their soju slushies. The flavor I got was lychee and they offered additional toppings for an extra dollar. I really enjoyed the slushy and the cream cheese wontons that I ordered but I wish the service was just a little better. I would give 4 stars for the food alone, but overall 3 stars considering the pace of service making my experience a little less enjoyable.

I love this place. End of story. lol. Jk, not the end but the food and service is always consistent and I love supporting small business owners. This family owned restaurant has a lot of great options on the menu with lots of flavor and spice levels for everyone! I usually order take out for my husband and I. We usually get the nam khao and skewers with sticky rice. *chefs kiss*. Today, I dined in for the first time with my bestie and had the Lao lovers lunch special with chicken which I devoured before even getting a picture but that was delicious too. The lunch specials are a great deal because it also comes with your choice of jasmine rice or sticky rice and a side of an egg roll or cream cheese wonton. The ambiance is nice for a little hole in the wall type of place. If you haven't tried, what're you waiting for?!

Delightful Thai and Lao dishes. We had what amounts to a sampler and everything was good. I especially like the Lao Green Papaya Salad! This is a small place in a small strip mall--a hidden gem. Two, perhaps three, friendly women handle everything with aplomb. I'm glad I found this on Yelp.

Recently visited because we were looking for something different. We used to go to their sister restaurant before it closed. We went closer to dinner time and was immediately serviced right away. We ordered a few of their items to go. Everything we ordered, especially their Kapoon was delicious. We definitely will be back!

Had a chance to finally try the SEA Hut that I've heard so much about. My first item to get at any SE Asian restaurant is the kapoon. It's my reference item that I use to compare and contrast. The restaurant is cozy and probably seats about 20-30 people. It's tucked away in the older part of Elk Grove and has that quaint 80s feel. The staff was nice and told us to sit anywhere. My kapoon was very nice and came with the usual condiments, including cabbage, bean sprouts, and mint leaves. The soup was hot enough for my liking, and had that nice creamy coconut milk goodness. It wasn't spicy at all to me, which was a little disappointing compared to other fiery ones I've had. The noodles were nice and soft but not too much so. Overall I enjoyed it but it's not as good as some I've had in south sac.My companion tried the stuffed chicken wings and I tried it as well, and it was very flavorful with a nice crispy skin. The stuffing was more tastly than other's I've had in the past. Overall a good experience at SEA Hut and I'd like to come back and try more items.

I went for late happy hour with my in laws. I grew up with a lot of Khmer and Lao folks in SoCal so I was excited to show my in laws a newer cuisine. They love Vietnamese food and ordered the SEA box which is close to Bun Thit Nuong. We ordered quite a bit. Stuffed Wing 9/10 Delicious, hot, and flavorful filling- just wish it came with scissors to make it easier to share Kapoon- 10/10 my soup with chili oil Shrimp roll 7/10 good but prob won't get again Beef skewers 10/10 so flavorful reminds me of night markets SEA Fries 9/10 so flavorful, cheeses, herbaceous SEA box (I didn't try it but in-laws said 10/10) huge portions. We had 3 to go boxes. Nam Khao 8/10 I really liked it- umami, crunchy, and limey. I grew up eating this dish. If are new to the Southeast Asian cuisine you may not like it at first, but it's nothing like you've had before. I love supporting local businesses and the service was great, attentive, and had great recommendations.
