Big thanks to Regina W for posting this event on Yelp so I could hear about it and attend - it was so much fun!!Inside the giant multipurpose room at Sacramento High School, the SacTown Veg Fest is a totally free annual come-together for a wide array of veg friendly businesses, food vendors and animal based organizations. Food, service, information, products... and more food! Since a lot of these vendors don't actually occupy retail stores and are more wholesale, it was a real treat to get a look at the latest products that they offer (and also sample them) as well as have the ability to purchase various items in one single location. We were also able to support the Sacramento High School students who participate in the on-campus garden and culinary programs. They make a delicious vegan chili! This is really a valuable event to check out with a lot of great vendors and information, regardless if you eat meat or not. I even ran into my favorite yelp couple who stopped by to check it out for health-conscious reasons. I can't wait for next year!

Happened to stop by the new location for SacTown Veg Fest at Mcclellan Convention center. Plenty of parking with no parking fee, though this was BUSY! And a warm day to boot. I was a bit unhappy about the $5 entrance fee, mostly because there were two events on Facebook and one of them did not have any admission prices listed. $5 isn't much, but I don't really understand the cover charge to go in just to look at vendors and spend more money. It wasn't a huge event. You'll probably walk around for 30-45 minutes and you're done. So I had to use the ATM on site, which I'm usually not fond of and incur an additional $3 fee. The event itself was cool and I got some good stuff like maple almond butter and cashew parmesan. I happily found the cultured kitchen so I could try their products as it's cheaper buying directly from them vs at the local health food stores. Most of the food vendors and trucks were outside, but very pricey. $20 for a chk'n mac and cheese burger. Yikes. $9 for a hot dog. $8-$10 for a shake. You would skip the entrance fee if you just wanted to get some grub since it was all outside. I ended up getting a giant pizza slice for $8, which was good.

This is my second time attending this even. This year the venue worked put much better as it is bigger and has more space with out being too large. It is hard to complain about an event that is free to the public but I would think some chef cooking demos and tastings would add greatly to the experience. Maybe charge a small fee to bring a higher profile to the event with hand on and more speakers etc. Again a nice event.....keep it up
