I am very much a beginner and very much an adult who has let decades of fear of the water keep her from pursuing the water sports she is drawn to. My early instructor was careless and lacked compassion and empathy for those who were afraid of the water. I nearly drown in his class and that solidified my fear. Many years later I have had the good fortune to find Joe. He is exactly the opposite of that early instructor and is the sort of teacher and person I need to help me to become the skillful swimmer I hope to be. Just one class in and I was loving being in the pool and experienced a sense of increased confidence. With Joe's guidance I became comfortable and confident in keeping my head nicely submerged while kicking half way down the length of the pool. This was extraordinary for someone with intense fear of the water.I am very eager for more classes because I know that I am so much closer to achieving my swimming goals. On top of that, the classes are just great fun!

Joe is an excellent swim coach and teacher. My husband and I have been his students for 8 months now and we have gone from being unsure of swimming to enjoying the pool and water. Joe is extremely patient and always gives us the right pointers which keeps us motivated. He teaches throughout the year and you can either drop in for his class or buy a class pass for 10 classes. As the pool where he teaches is a heated pool, you can learn to swim any time during the year and not have to wait for summer to join the classGive his class a try.. You will not be disappointed!

I am an adult and have never taken a swim lessons before. Joe is a great instructor giving personal coaching by keeping small class size, and giving very effective instructions, including helping build confidence under water. His approach of simple incremental steps is easy to keep up.Joe is amazingly patient with his students and never forces you to do anything you're not comfortable in doing but also encourages you to achieve your goal! He gives you positive criticisms and shows you what you need to work on. He has a great way of explaining swimming and naturally progresses you through the steps of getting comfortable in the water, to floating, to breathing, to finally making it across the pool. You may be reading this thinking you are the ONE student who still won't 'get it'. Don't let this stop you, I felt the same way.
