My husband and I decided to take our daughter on this train and were pleasantly surprised! It cost just $2 for a 15 min ride(2 & under are free), with a scenic view of Hagan Community Park! We had a blast going through bridges, etc and the staff were very welcoming and helpful! What a great way to celebrate National Park and Recreation Month and National Anti-Boredom Month! Speaking of parks it's Cordova Recreation & Park District's 65 anniversary!I would DEFINITELY recommend paying a visit next time you're in Rancho! This non-profit railroad also hosts parties and events, check the schedule on their website! We're excited to attend their Pumpkin Patch Express and Santa Train! SYOY! :-)Song: Upbeat Fun Ukulele by REDproductions https://pixabay.com/music/-positive-hopeful-upbeat-fun-ukulele-hope-pleasure-music-16525/

We had the best time riding the steamer! The staff was extremely friendly and I was impressed with all the intricate details - bridges, crossing signs, etc that were on the route. The ride was long and exciting. We will definitely be back!

My nephew loved the train ride! These mini trains are what everyone wants at their house to randomly ride on all the time! Of course you'd need a good size yard first! You really have to sit still on the train to be safe. For a place that is solely run on volunteers, they did the best they could. We had to wait about an hour or so before we got on a train! An hour with a bunch of kids and expecting them to be patient? Not going to happen! Our train derailed in the back while we were going so I'd be very cautious riding. It was easily fixed! Definitely need adults on the ride with kids to make sure they are safe. Overall I loved the train ride and so did my nephew! We hated the long wait and we got there 5 minutes after they opened! I don't think I'd do this again unless I was guaranteed a lot less waiting! An hour is a bit excessive!

We had my son's first birthday here last weekend. What a great deal! We paid for the diesel train & added on an extra hour. We were there from 11-2 & rode the train 5 times. There are bathrooms & picnic benches under a covered awning. There is a grassy area. Plenty of room for our 50 guests & could've accommodated more. The staff were so friendly. We had a great time! We can't wait for the Pumpkin Train & the Santa Train.

This place is Sacramento's best kept secret! My little guys LOVE riding these trains year-round. The annual Santa Train is a magical experience for the entire family that is not to be missed! They simplified their pricing structure last year: $5 per rider to visit the North Pole. I really like this because I was able to take my own pictures of the kids with Santa. They still offer a photographer to take pictures as an option- I didn't think it was necessary, but my wife insisted. There was a nominal charge for their photographer, and as it turned out, it was well worth it. Our kids are already asking about going again this year! It is outdoors, so dress accordingly. In addition to a visit with Santa, the "North Pole" has some kid activities, cookies, and hot chocolate. My wife says it is cute, and way better than many of the other options out there. I like that it benefits their non-profit organization. All aboard!

This review is only for the Santa Sacramento Valley Live Steamers (SVLS). For a handful of weekends in December SVLS offers steam train rides through the park to "Santa's Village" where you are greeted by Mrs. Claus and you can enter the line for children to get photos with Santa. A jolly elf snaps the photo and they are very patient with little ones who may be unsure of Santa. While you wait for your photo to print you can enjoy hot apple cider, hot chocolate and cookies. You can ride the train back to where you boarded or you can take a quick walk to the parking lot, if you have impatient little ones :)The steam train ride is free, but donations are welcomed. Photos with Santa are $10 for a 4x6 print or $15 for a 4x6 print and a digital copy on a flash drive.
