We've been to the Sacramento Turn Verein many times! They host Oktoberfest, Bockfest and Chistkindlmarkt annually and they also use the building as a venue for other activities and their German Language School. The events they put on are always great, the food, beer and entertainment is consistent and it's a great opportunity to learn about the German culture and meet new people. We also took German Language lessons here from 2019-2022 and they did a great job of taking the lessons from in person to online during the pandemic. I would highly recommend the classes here. They have a few different spaces in the building for activities and meetings and they have an elevator which is very nice for accessibility.

Came here for the 1st annual crab feed!! Absolutely awesome time as usual not sure why this is the first annual since this crab feed has been going on for a few years but still awesome nonetheless. I think what makes it tho is the people! The venue it's self is pretty easy to find, its downtown so parking is pretty much a b$?@! But again downtown so what did u expect. However it's a clean establishment up until the bathroom. Understandably it's a bathroom can't expect it to be a golden palace but y'all still need to clean it like it could be. Other than that I really have no complaints. Food was great started off with salad, pasta, salami and cheese plate then the main course of crab!!!!!!!!! The reason for my existence!!! Lol and rolls don't forget the rolls! Pretty amazing time with great friends! Can't wait for next year.

I have been coming to Turn Verein for about two years ago to play volleyball with XOSO Sports. The location is fairly easy to find, though parking can take a minute the first time you arrive. The building always seems to have that old building, old book smell which I am sure is due to the age of the building. Surprisingly, the A/C works really dang well! I was dreading playing volleyball here during the summer when it was over 100 degrees, but never had an issue! The main hall is spacious, and the bathrooms are always clean. For what I have been here for, I can't complain. It is more than adequate for volleyball games.

Many of the lower reviews are older and mention previous coordinators, so I wanted to give a detailed reason why I give 5 stars for the Sacramento Turn Verein's value and service. I'm astonished at how there are hardly no reviews about this gem of a space for weddings when they have been doing weddings for 100 years! My husband and I were looking for a flexible space that allowed outside vendors, complete creative control and really nice people to work with. This is a community space so it's affordable compared to more full stacked wedding venues (discounted on Sundays!), and comes with tables and chairs space coordinator (not to be confused with day of), AND a security guard included. Also, they do the set up and breakdown of tables, as well as allow you to decorate a day before your event if there are no other parties booked. This was for about 130-150 guests and vendors moving around the space roughly, and it worked perfectly for the intimate setting I wanted. We rented both the upstairs Banquet Hall and Lodge, which are renovated and absolutely gorgeous with big open arc windows, beautiful marble bars and a very handsome grey for the walls. I fell in love with the beautiful red brick outside of the building and viewing the upstairs renovated spaces--and fell even deeper in love when we could budget renting out the space on a Saturday, rather than a Sunday for a more expensive space as we initially planned to help with savings. There is a partial discount for renting both rooms together, which opened up beautifully through an arc double door hallway that connected the two rooms. We used the Lodge Hall for our ceremony with the large arc mirror as our focal point. When our guests moved to the Banquet Hall for drinks, seating and dancing, the Lodge Hall was converted by friends and caterers to our buffet area. Full kitchens included with ice machines, something many cute and pricey venues lack unfortunately, which adds up for other vendors like caterers. The biggest shout out to Lauren for being so easy to work with since day one, and for always going above and beyond. She helped coordinate BevMo delivery a couple days before the ceremony, showed other vendors the space when they wanted to check it out, and really helped smooth out some vendor confusions/concerns for us. We couldn't be happier with her being a part of the whole experience. Day of she exchanged shifts with Brandie, who helped wrap things up for us! She was just as easy to work with. The only thing to keep in mind is this community center has limited parking spaces, and they have a few other halls that could be rented out throughout the same day as your event so guests might be competing. Lauren sent us a map of all parking lots nearby which I informed my guests on my wedding website of, as well as street parking options. I hope you really consider the Sacramento Turn Verein for events, even as special as a wedding! You'll see how we decorated the halls and the beautiful renovations for our ceremony and reception.

The STV is home to two of the greatest events in Sacramento (Not counting Yelp events, right Olivia L?): Bockbierfest and Oktoberfest. Family friendly and drinking usually don't go together, but here they pull it off seamlessly. How? I dunno, but it works to the tune of: old folks in lederhosen, little girls stacking beer cups to the moon, seasonal bier flowing like a river, pungent veal currywurst, polka, old dudes buying young ladies champagne, and a crowded dance floor flapping and shaking their money maker to das chickendanz. It is the best of times. It is the wurst of times. Oooh bad. LOL! Zicke, zicke, zicke!! Hoi, hoi, hoi! Knowwaddamean?Pics from the Bee: http://www.sacbee.com/2010/10/02/3074592/sacramento-43rd-annual-oktoberfest.htmlCourtesy note: Instead of holding a full table for your friends that have been "on their way" for 2 hours, let das blue hairs have those seats. Jesus. Ever hear of karma? Those are somebody's grandparents. Yes, I will talk shit if you don't.

I love the children's class. It is full immersion!!! The kids have learned colors, animal names, numbers, body parts and more. My daughter started classes September 2016 with no knowledge of German. Class includes:Singing 4-6 German songs Playing 2-4 fun German games Reading 1-2 German children's booksRelevant props to reinforce German1 craft activity for 15-20 minutes at the end of class2-4 Paper handouts to practice German songs and/or vocabulary(Optional and FREE!!!) German dance class for 20-30 minutes after class (Optional) 2-4 singing performances per year at German cultural events. The teachers are fun, friendly and patient with the kids. They offer the only kid German classes in Sacramento (that I know of)... Please comment if you know of any other ones. Other benefits - Cultural events, onsite German library (YAY!!), friendly parents, good location, reasonable prices, ect...I hope this review was useful for you

I have an awesome time everytime I'm at the Turn Verein. It's a big old building with a lot of space, yet it feels cozy and friendly at all the events (just the Bockbierfest, Oktoberfest and Christkindlmarkt that we know of, there's many more I want to try!) Plus I've yet to find another place in this county that serves currywurst... yum!!Just about anyone can feel welcome at Turn Verein, but as someone with German heritage it makes me feel at home. I want to try their German language school next :)

The events at the Hall are always fun experiences. I've only been to the Oktoberfest and Bock Bier fest over the years but it's such a great family friendly party.

My fiance and I were interested in having Turn Verein host our wedding rehearsal dinner. We scheduled a time to tour Turn Verein, arrived at the scheduled time, and no one from Turn Verein showed up to meet us. Two days later we received an apologetic voicemail. We rescheduled the tour for a time suggested by Turn Verein staff, and THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED! We couldn't believe the lack of professionalism. We are still reeling from this clusterf*ck!
