During a time when most bookstores are closing, we can always count on the public library to appease our reading appetite. The library now has apps that allow you to borrow audiobooks or digital books at your fingertips. However nothing beats the ability to go to a space to quietly read or browse for books! This library is spacious and located across the street from Consumnes River College and the lightrail station. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The downside is that it can get busy and often times most of the study tables are taken.Nonetheless I am happy that our city and community still supports and appreciates our public libraries.

This is one of my favorite public libraries-- possibly my top favorite-- in the Sacramento area. (Close contenders would be Arthur F. Turner and Georgia Murray in Folsom.)Out of all the libraries I've been to, which I think is now all of them, this one seems the largest. I don't mean that it has the most square feet, necessarily, but, the way that the space is utilized makes it seem larger.Upon entering the library, one enters a foyer with restrooms, a "lounge" area, and a large conference room (behind the lounge) which is sometimes opened up as extra lounge or teen space. What sets this library apart from most others is that food is not banned in the lounge area. It's almost like a mini public coffee shop where everyone brings their own coffee and snacks. After passing through the EAS gates, one enters the real library. The bulk of the library is, of course, books, which are mostly located in the center. The rest of the library stations are configured around this central rectangle of books.Just beyond the circulation desk is a large computer room, which houses several dozen modern, working computers which are available for the public to use. No other Sacramento area library has close to as many computers as this one does.Past the computer lounge is a cool-looking Teens Only area. Since I haven't brought my daughter to this library yet, I'm unable to ask her opinion, but, it looks pretty modern and neatly decorated from the outside. Near the front of the library are several private conference rooms, which teens and college students can check out to work on group projects in private. Just in front of these rooms is a display case showing some of the unconventional items that can be checked out from the library, such as a microscope, and a KitchenAid mixer.Wait, you can check those out? I might be back for that one myself. I've always wanted one. ;)My personal favorite part of this library is that the entire Imagination Drive side is lined with computer desks. Each of these desks is equipped with anywhere from 1-4 chairs. There are maybe six desks for one person, and a couple dozen desks for up to four people. It can get rowdy, but, overall, this is a relatively quiet library. As far as study space goes, in my opinion, it rivals or exceeds most of the study spaces at CSUS.

I enjoy going here to study because the seats are more comfortable compared to the study cafes in my area. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. There's also a security guard that frequently roams the library which makes me feel safe. It gets a bit noisy at times in the open area so I usually reserve a study room ahead of time.

All the staffs are wearing mask and face covering. We're happy this library is open to the public for curbside pick up and drop off books. Also, you can browse for books inside the library for an hour. Not that many people inside the library so it's easy to browse and people maintain 6 feet feet distance.

This is my local library and the building is a very modern and unique building. The book selection is low and I do wish they had more books available but there are always a lot of new books here and a lot of space to have a quiet sit. There are also a lot of computers available which makes it a lot easier if you need to just pop in and use one.

I've always been happy with the library services at this branch. The librarians are helpful, polite, and knowledgeable. I've never had one show any rudeness whatsoever. The facilities at this branch are modern and well-kept. I always enjoy my visits to the Valley Hi branch library. They keep a good-sized DVD selection, and their periodicals section is orderly and neat. It's a pleasure to come in to peruse. When you get an online account, you can search the Sacramento database and request any books in the system. You will be notified by email when the item is ready for pickup at the branch of your choice.

As libraries go, this is one of the best I've come across. I came for a presentation but had some down time to explore the shelves and services. In terms of selection of both books and resources, and a staff that is very helpful, they have it all. The modern library should be equal parts traditional shelves and modern amenities like internet access and an easy to reference catalog system. They do not disappoint. I found both and was asked by staff a couple times if I needed any assistance. I still like libraries for their primary purpose - books - so I perused the shelves. Some great titles here and a diverse selection. I liked a lot of the tech books and the biographies. It's nothing super exciting, but for the average book worm this could easily be your home away from home. For those who live near this library, take advantage of this wonderful resource. Now go forth and read!

Lounge is good for working. Lots of tables, a few outlets. But the wifi didn't work. I had to use my mobile hotspot, not ideal.
