Never in my life have I felt more unwelcome. I came here for the adult respite offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The first thing I noticed was that the front door was locked during business hours. That should have been my first clue to leave. The receptionist didn't seem to understand what I meant when I mentioned the Lambda Lounge by name. If you visit this place, be sure to mention adult respite specifically. After being checked in, I availed myself to some water and used the restroom. The same receptionist seemed suspicious of me when I walked in to use the restroom for its intended purpose. Oddly enough, someone else who was there for respite asked me if I worked there, to which I responded in the negative. At this point, I could tell the others in the room needed these services more than I did and that I didn't belong here. Feeling uncomfortable, I took my leave of the place, at which point someone informed me that I might not reenter once I left the building. I wish the LGBT Center's website had mentioned that before I paid for more than an hour of parking. I suppose I'll just tackle my depression on my own and risk hospitalization.

Tlp program is ok but case manager doesn't know anything really about housing resources so your sol you gotta find mostly all your resources on your own when it comes to their housing program but the 2 years of free rent and food is a plus till you figure it out. Really wish they would of insulated the garage before putting residence in here cuz during the winter the temperatures are nearly unsleepable. But yes like I said when it comes to job and housing resources at their housing programs the case manager knows little to nothing he's no help good luck

What a great place! We visited them as we left Kennedy Art Gallery. My son spotted the Pokemon Go cookies and juice. Those that were running the booth were so awesome and what a great way to engage the community.I have referred many of my friends and clients to this center. When I see the center making such an effort to engage it makes my heart warm. Way to go and keep it up. Can't wait to see what else you all have in store.

Also known as Lambda, this place is plain great. They have youth groups, women's group, and that's what I know them for, but their site calendar also says they have weight watchers and Sexual Compulsives Anonymous meetings, so ... they do a lot.But with my experiences with the youth groups, the people are great, the "leaders" are great, and the discussions can be very interesting (though the discussions of political correctness drove me crazy).I hope that once my 8 week Friday class is over at school that I can start going back there. I miss them!

I would like to see more events catered to the LGBT family of color. I am little disappointed with the programs they offer but i hear change is coming...

I have been a monthly sustaining business giver since 2012 and continue to be impressed with the improved direction of our center here in Sacramento. Shara Perkins Murphy (Executive Director), David Heitstuman (Board President), and all who work at and volunteer their time at the center have made extraordinary changes. I will add that many of these directional changes have come as a result of them authentically listening to members of the community they serve. While there are aspects of the center that could be improved, which I and others have listed, the point is that they are well aware of these items and working towards change. As someone who does not go to bars often, I have also been happy to learn of and attend many of the social events organized by and benefitting the center. These events, as well as being philanthropic, have - in my view - brought the community together and served to bridges with others. I think our center should be held accountable, absolutely, but I do think it should be commended for all that it has done over the past couple years. I will certainly continue to be a monthly sustaining business giver due to what the center does for our community and where they are leading the center.

If you like rude attendants, derelictions of responsibility, lack of structure, and unanswered inquiries, the Sacramento LGBT Community Center is the place to be. Genuinely, I would accuse them of astroturfing trans-related needs and care, if it didn't open me up to legal trouble. I would rather have the stress of investing my own professional time in developing a rival LGBT+ center that actually has a Director on staff. Never before have I so strongly considered applying for Asylum in Canada, and the likelihood that these failures are deliberate, really doesn't sit well in my heart. I'm so sorry to the people who rely on them. We deserve better. We, as a community, pay for better.

This place is my second home, and the support I received here made me the outspoken and proud gay man I am today. The executive director, Shara Murphy, is amazing, and the social groups provide great places for lgbt people and allies of all ages to socialize. The Center is the touchstone of the rich Sacramento lgbt community. Do not hesitate to drop in and say hello or show up for a group :)
