I paid $28 for a piece of paper that says I was born at some point.

There was no line which was the great part. I needed help locating a recorded deed on my property. The man in the front was not helpful at all and I found him very rude. He was very short with his answers and I found him to be condescending.

Went in to get a Deputy Commissioner of Civil Marriages license. Had appointment and was seen right away. Raised the right hand , took the oath and was on my way in 10 minutes. Prompt, efficient, and friendly. The document was signed by Donna Allred, and I jokingly asked the clerk whether she was related to GLORIA Allred. He stone face looked at me and said he didn't know who Gloria was. I laughed and was on my way.Be careful about parking. Some of the street parking does not START until 9:00 am, probably because it is right next to the courthouse.

This office is a joke.. my husband and I came in to pick up our marriage license, we were under the impression that the ceremony wasn't required to be legally married.. Donna Allred took it upon herself to be extraordinarily rude and disrespectful to us by speaking to us like we were dumb for not being aware the ceremony was required? She talked down to us with a horrible snarky tone to her voice. It wasn't until another worker stepped in to explain to us on a professional way that the ceremony was indeed necessary for the marriage to be legal. Whatever you do please do more let Donna Allred assist you in you marriage license process, she made the process absolutely unbearable and extremely uncomfortable..

I had to record two separate documents. Only had to wait in line for five minutes. Great service. Polite workers. Socially distanced and well organized. Very appreciative of their cooperation.

Sacramento County Deputy Clerk is useless. There were several spelling mistakes in our marriage certificate and when we asked the clerk to amend the mistake in the certificate, she insisted that we show up in her office in person. We already moved to New York and now we have to pay for the mistake that they made. Very rude people working for the county.

For a variety of reasons, before our actual wedding, my husband and I did a quick ceremony at the Sacramento County Clerks/Recorder office. Having seen pictures of my parent's wedding, some 25 years ago at the same place, I was hoping for the setting to be a little less corporate basement and a little more groovy. The basic procedure is this...You make an appointment ahead of time and show up at your time. You meet with someone to fill out paperwork and get lectured about STDs and genetic defects (seriously). Then you wait some more. After a bit they call you back into the wedding room (good sized, lots of fake flowers, an archway). They do a quick ceremony of your choosing (I think they had three choices--all of which made me promise to obey my now husband, but one of which left god out of the deal). The woman doing the ceremony was a sweet lady. Afterwards you sign the license with your witnesses (Bring them! They charge you extra to have one of their people sign if you don't).Not exactly what I was hoping for, but for $90 ($77 processing fee, $13 for your copy of the license) we did walk out married.

Went in for/needed a birth certificate. Lucked out and parked about 25 feet from the door. Showed ID, paid "the man", got one. Easy peasy.

Five Stars... Why? Read below. 1) Because I got married here. That's reason enough! LOL. 2) Friendly & courteous employees. The paperwork process was a breeze especially since we completed the online application. 3) Timely service. Our ceremony was scheduled for 5:20pm. We were married and out of there before 6:30pm. 4) The Minister was super nice and to the point. He let us exchange our personal vows after the legal ceremony vows. 5) They give you a keepsake wedding certificate which I think is pretty nice. Definitely something to keep in a wedding album or have framed. I'm glad they thought of that. The one downer was their parking situation. It's really annoying. We parked in this lot which come to find out--no one should be parking there to begin with. Well, the city should post some signs. I know this isn't the county clerk's fault but it's just inconvenient to hunt for parking on your wedding day which you have a scheduled appointment for and it's a little over 100 degrees out.

I really like coming to the county clerk office... which is really weird to say! Typically you would expect long waits and unhelpful service BUT I've been here 3 times and each of which has been bet pleasant! The wait time is little to none, I personally have not waited at all! I walk in and walk up to the window. The gentleman at the "information desk" wasn't too helpful but not to take away from everything else, this was still a good experience just given the fact it was such a smooth transaction. The parking is on the street and they accept credit cards. Usually for parking you might have to drive around a few times and bring quarters! Good luck!

They set a new standard for government employee incompetence. It took four visits over 10 days to get a marriage license recorded. First they didn't like the way it was filled out so we needed to get an amendment signed by the rabbi/pastor. Apparently, an officiate can't be both. On the second visit they screwed up the amendment running it back through the printer. (Apparently, process engineering is an unknown discipline in California.) So, back to the rabbi/pastor to get another amendment signed. On the third trip they recorded the marriage and gave us an official copy. We later found that it was not signed by the clerk's office. Therefore, it wasn't valid. On the fourth trip they signed the copy. Four trips to downtown, fighting traffic, finding parking, wasting time and gasoline to get a marriage license recorded is ridiculous. And, they didn't seem to care that they were incompetent.
