I wish I knew about this place years ago. My kids love it and I kinda do? It's a community place where you can drop your kid(s) off and hope that they are alright......lol. This place is where kids can be and will get DIRTY. Yes, it's almost encourage. And there is water, mud, bugs, hammers, drills, nails, branches. If your kid wants to build a fort, this is a place that supplies the wood, nails, hammer, impact, screws to have them build one. Are you the parent that has to keep everything clean? Approve every little thing and hovers over your kid every second of both of your lives? Don't go here. This place encourages imagination and gives them the tools to make it happen. I'd love this if I was still a kid. As an adult, I'd love this if I can do this at some facility and walk away without damaging my property. As someone in the construction industry, this place is our fairytale land for our kids!

Although today is the first day of camp for Fort building 2, my son absolutely loves it here! I can't even get him to leave but at least it gives me a time to leave a review. Everyone is super friendly here, including the owner Steve, who is accommodating. This place is great for kids who just want to use their imagination and get their hands on tools by putting their skills to use! So much creativity and adventure I can't wait to see what the week has ahead and we will definitely be coming back for the robotics camp!

My kids might give this place 7 stars. There is really no place that kids ages 6 and up can be as creative, free, build, be an architect, be an engineer like they can here at Sacramento Adventure Playground. The opportunities to build a fort, structure, use a drill, use a saw with or without a mask or any kind of protection besides their own instinct, pound nails into things with a hammer, skip run or walk on an obstacle course are present here for the children at their desire. This isnt the place for the helicopter or very protective parent to take their child with much fears or reservations. This is most definately an unorthodox way for children in the USA to play and be a kid. Apparently this is more popular in other countries. Most playgrounds here are clean, organized, both visually and physically designed to keep the child safe. A standard park typically has bark and rubber to cushion a fall. This place has concrete and dirt to cushion a fall ( and also the childs natural instinct to protective oneself to not fall in the first place). This place on a random very busy Summer day looks like a junk yard with opportunity to create but also many random tid bits of scraps on the ground, just taunting the waiting sitting protective parent to sweep it all up ASAP. Whereas a typical park is ready made, clean and well thought out, no creativity needed. This is a place to allow your curious or high energy child to perhaps channel all that bubbly bounce into a physical project such as building their own makeshift castle from start to finish. They can polish off their creation by painting it as well. They can climb a very very very high tree, unharnessed, ring a bell and earn kids play bucks for art items such as string and crafts. Inside they can store lunch items and drinks, a good idea for those kids whose parents perhaps need to be at work, run a long errand, leave then there to go on a lunch date with a gal pal or spouse. In the Summer some local kids literally were there from open to close. Sure is a safer option for kids vs walking the neighborhood getting into trouble, like some kids I knew growing up whom had nowhere to go. There are also hot glue guns inside for crafts, a really really old thing that the kids dont know what it is (and maybe the millenials) called a typewriter, a mounted metal pencil sharpener and a stationary bike. The kind of stationary bike that is so old it expels air when you move the pedals. I think this one is a turquoise blue, perhaps designed in the 80's. In the Summer they have a slip and slide, and a mini pool. Inside a cage is a chinchilla and a Madagascar cockroach too!We recently came here for a Community Day (so fun!) and they had tons of booths, bottle rockets, more painting, amazing real tacos, pupusas, etc.For the amazing homeschooling families they have programs lasting a month or so from Wed-Fridays. Kiddos learn to build things. This November there is a Roasted Night for marshmallows and they just had a Trick or Treat activity for the kids. They also had an obstacle course race. Theres so much more, check their website for a complete list. The best thing my 9 year old son loves about this place he will say is, "You can't tell me me no." Meaning parents are highly encouraged to stay on their phone and leave the kids alone to run amuck and build freely. In fact, in the Summer when we went the most, there was maybe up to 20 kids, and I was sometimes the only parent present. Yes there are staff present. Not a single kid hurt except for a kid hurt his finger with a hot glue gun. I would definitely bring the kids here at least once. Every kid I have brought here really loves it.

I'm here to tell you, if you are paranoid about you child getting hurt, stay away. Don't get me wrong, there are many safety precautions taken but many more things to go wrong. Located behind Maple Elementary School, as you approach you will see many "rough" wooden structures. These are mostly the kids brain storming and putting their thoughts into the wood, nails, hammers, and saws...yes, saws. There are some metal scraps to aid in strengthening the structures and a few very helpful adults. Some of these structures are two stories, there was even a third story being developed on top of one. There's many more activities such as a mud pit with a moat the the kids are free to dig, block, or just stomp around. The bounce house was still fairly active even with all this going on around it. But wait, there's more. Inside the old classroom there were so many more activities. Basket weaving with material made from rolled up newspaper, lego, a drum set, and so much more. As we tried to leave, the was a redwood tree outside the classroom. Well, it's a climbing tree. Kids start out and a eight foot ladder then climb the tree limbs the rest of the way, approximately 25' to ring a bell. With a small parking lot and mostly street parking, this a great way to let your child let loose. Big thanks the Fairytale Town for powering youth development!

My kid loved it & they have great educational programs for other organizations. Not in the best part of town but safe in the day & totally fenced off. A great community asset. Be warned helicopter parents, you will have to stay in the "parent area" while your children play with hammers & nails & tightrope on old fire hoses, but that's what makes this place different & awesome.
