This is our favorite Sacramento ramen place!I can see why the ratings are so high:(1) they have consistently prompt customer service, (2) the best broth for their ramen (3) plenty of vegetarian options - tofu nuggets were unique and delightful - have veggies inside the tofu!(4) indoor and outdoor seating (5) easy parking, there is a large Safeway parking lot. We've been here over a dozen times and will keep coming! :)

Did I go to the wrong place, this Ramen place is rated 4.5 stars overall? I rushed to get here craving good hot bowl of ramen noodles. I ordered the Tonkatsu red:1) Broth, lukewarm and had no depth and hardly any spice. 2) Noodles: Al dente at best and texture-wise not slippery and bouncy like I expect. Somewhat doughy taste.3) Egg - cold inside. The cold premade egg was thrown in there at the end and did not get even get hot.4) Pork - slice of pork had a gamey taste and almost as though a freezer burn to it. I could not make out the horrible aftertaste.Service person never came by to check on how things were and appear to be preoccupied with their phone. It was not that busy that night either. One and done for me. Could probably be the worst ramen I have ever had at a restaurant.

Well this has been the stop to go for a while but I think this will be my last time. First of all their price are pretty high now compare to before. I know prices all all up but at least give your customers better meat please! We ordered 3 bowls of ramen and all of them meat taste like it's been frozen for months .... This is really disappointing and disgusting. Not going back will look somewhere else from now on. Sorry Ryujin you are just overrated.

Considering this wildly popular ramen restaurant has nearly 4,000 Yelp reviews (as of early-2025), I am hoping my review can contribute to how amazing, delicious, awesome, and every other adjective that this place is. This is none other than "Ryujin Ramen", a staple of Midtown Sacramento that has been running strong since 2012. Conveniently located in the Safeway shopping center (the one with the sculpted silver horse), this place is directly on S St. and in between 18th/19th St's. Parking on any given day can be quite the challenge as the Safeway parking lot can fill up quickly. So give yourself time if you plan on meeting up with friends or family. This place is open for business 7 days a week as well as major holidays; lunch hours is from 11:30am-2:30pm while dinner hours is from 5:00-10:00pm. My lady and I came during the late-afternoon on Sunday 1/19/2025 at around 5:15pm. Even though they had just opened for dinner, it was already a packed house. As far as the overall size of this place, it is quite small and if you come during the dinner rush (especially during the cooler winter months), expect a wait. Luckily there was only two parties ahead of us and we got seated in about 15 minutes. As for the seating, you have your option of sitting near the bar (with high-top chairs) and for a more cozy experience, I'd recommend the booths and standard tables (for parties of up to 6). Once seated, we were given iced waters and menus. To start off with drinks, I went with their "Melon Cream Soda" which is a Japanese staple. As for my dish, I chose their top seller, the "Shoyu Ramen". This consisted of a soy sauce-based noodle soup, BBQ pork, steamed cabbage, black mushrooms, bamboos, aji-tama (seasoned egg), green onions and fish cake. My lady goes with their "TanTan Men". This is also a soy sauce-based noodle soup with ground pork, minced shiitake mushrooms and bamboo mixed with sesame paste special sauce and green onions. They always say timing is everything and this place didn't miss a beat with both our ramen bowls being brought to us in less than 5 minutes. My guess is that their giant tub of broth was already prepared which made adding the ingredients a breeze for them. I will say that the overall taste, texture, flavor, and consistency of the ingredients hits all the high notes. I had a ton of pork in my bowl as well as many other toppings that really made this a grand slam for me. I've eaten at other ramen restaurants in different cities (San Francisco, Los Angeles, etc.) and this place rivals some of the best I've ever been to.All in all, "Ryujin Ramen" is the real deal and undoubtedly one of the better ramen restaurants I've eaten at. If you wish to avoid the hustle and bustle of driving to Midtown Sacramento, they are planning to build a second location in Roseville (at Blue Oaks & Fiddyment) as of early-2025. With that said and done, I am giving this place a perfect five-star rating. Amazing selection of food, excellent customer service, respectable prices, and great ambiance. I definitely see many future visits here on some of the colder winter days & nights!

I found parking in the Safeway plaza and came here with a friend. We both ordered the aka (red) tonkotsu ramen with a takoyaki appetizer to split. The spice was a pleasant level, it didn't interfere with the richness of the tonkotsu broth and the freshness of the mushroom and green onion. I ended up sipping on the broth a lot, it was my favorite part of this spot! I really liked the texture of the noodles here, it came in at a very close second. They're so chewy and not soggy at all. They don't skimp on the chashu here either. The ajitama was also delicious and came with a nice partially jammy/formed egg yolk. For the price, it is a lot of food!!! The takoyaki was also yummy and melt in your mouth, both dishes came out fresh with the steam still coming off of it. Our server was very kind and made sure to check up on us to ask if we wanted anything else. Overall I would consider this a great spot to come to if you want an authentic ramen experience! It was on par with some of the spots I had in Japan.

Every time we're here there's a line. We opted for quickest seating option and it was outdoors. We were seated right away. Excellent service! Staff turned on outside heater for us, got our drinks quick! Didn't wait long for our order to be taken and the food came out fast! We enjoyed our ramen! Very flavorful and great portion for the price!

We had dinner at Ryujin Ramen with a party of eight, and it was such a nostalgic experience. This spot used to be one of my favorites when I was a student in Davis, and I hadn't been back in years. I'm happy to say it still hits the spot and satisfies my ramen cravings. My go to order is the Black Kuro Tonkotsu Ramen the black garlic oil adds so much depth to the flavor. The standout for me, though, is the seasoned egg. Its taste and texture are absolutely perfect. The service here is quick and efficient and the prices are very reasonable. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious as they have indoor and outdoor seating. Overall, it's a fantastic spot for ramen!

Still a good option for a big bowl of hot ramen (or rice) on a cold night. Prices are $15-$16 now. They still have a paper waitlist/clipboard for when it gets busy, table/booth/bar/patio seating. Some of the decor seems new to me, like the posters of Mt. Fuji. To start, the geso and takoyaki are best. For ramen I get the kuro (black garlic oil) and add corn ($1 extra) most of the time. If you like spicy, try getting the kuro (black) and make it spicy to get the best of both worlds. Rarely I will get the yasai (veggie miso) ramen and add a seasoned egg. I also like the donburis (chashu pork or beef gyudon) over rice. Their katsu don is pork, not chicken. Sometimes the chashu pork is hit or miss (in the ramen or as a rice bowl). My most recent visit, the slices of chashu in the kuro tonkotsu were a bit tough to chew. For the rice bowl, sometimes they're generous and you get intact slices, and sometimes the presentation is more messy and you get chopped chashu. Service is pleasant and super quick.Parking within the Safeway lot is only 1 hour.

Food (4.5/5)The kuro tonkatsu ramen had plenty of flavor and lots of toppings. Wasn't a huge fan of the lettuce in it but it didn't take away much. The portion was large and it was very enjoyable. The broth, noodles, and soft boiled egg were the standouts. The chicken karaage and gyoza were both decent as well.Service (5/5)Restaurant was busy on a Thursday night but our party of 2 was seated right away. Service was very quick & friendly, and the food came out nice and hot!Ambiance (5/5)Medium size restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. It can get a little loud where the tables are closer together but not too bad.

Came in yesterday for a quick lunch before Xmas shopping in Sac. I love their noodles so much! They are the perfect texture--thick and chewy!Got the red tonkatsu ramen with my usual added toppings of menma and Wakame. Still solid ramen and it came out lightning fast. I think I was the first customer of the day and thr place was empty when I arrived. When I left 30 minutes later, every table was full and there was a line at the door.Keep thriving, Ryujin!
