Rudy's Hideaway Truck

Went yesterday for lunch and ordered fish and chips for a pricey $18. Got the order and the fries looked old and we're luke warm. They were disgusting. The fish was really oily - yes I'm aware they are deep fried lol, but my favorite fish places don't leave my fingers greasy. I guess what really makes me unhappy is that just looking at the fries you could tell they would not be good and we were served them anyway.

My coworker and I are on a food truck journey! We're making it a mission to try and hit all the food trucks that come to the SactoMoFo event near our work every week. Pro-tip: Check out the food truck event schedule to see what's coming near you!My coworker got a $20 lobster roll from this truck. I had a bite. Ehhhh. It wasn't that good and really not worth that price tag. It wasn't best tasting lobster and the bread roll made me sad. It was completely untoasted and there was just too much bread to lobster ratio. My other coworker got this fish and chips and he said he liked that. BUT! I have had the clam chowder fries and I remember that being pretty dang good. I will definitely be back to try other stuff on the menu.

I tried this food truck for the first time this week. I had a brief internal debate about spending $20 for the lobster roll lunch. I went for it and was not disappointed. No regrets. They didn't skimp on the lobster. My sandwich had chunks of lobster tossed in a lemon buttery aioli sauce with bits of celery. The celery gave it a nice crunchy texture but was not overpowering. It tasted good. The lobster meat was served on top of a piece of loose lettuce in a soft roll. The meal came with waffle fries, a dill pickle spear, a lemon wedge, and a moist towelette. Don't forget to grab a fork to pickup every last morsel. The fellas working the truck were great. My order came out quickly. If you see this truck and like seafood, go checkout their menu. The lobster roll is the most expensive item but the majority of their menu items are closer to $12.

It's Friday and the hubs and I are currently practicing Lent; which means "Fish Fridays" for us. And we also gave up carbs and starch type of food, so our lunch options were super limited. As we were driving to Burgers and Brew (B&B) we passed up a food truck with a colorful crab and lobster on it. We pull over in the quickness because neither of us wanted the tilapia fish and chips at B&B.There was a small line, but Rudy's was organized and efficient working on a two man truck. They had great seafood options: Clam Chowder, lobster bisque, calamari, lobster bread roll, fish and chips, etc. The hubs and I both order the fish and chips. We substituted the chips for a lobster bisque. What I LOVED about the fish is the fact that they used Cod. It was a large chunk, moist, and flaked away at the touch of a fork. I couldn't really eat the batter but the fish was fried to a good crisp and had really good flavor. The lobster bisque was chunky and had a lobster claw in the middle. Delicious! Fish and chips are $13 and with the bisque substitute it came up to $15 each for our meal. A little pricey for a food truck, but the quality was there so we had no real qualms.I also appreciate the little personal touches they had. For example: 1. The fork, spoon, knives were on a contraption where you pressed the lever and one item would come out. I appreciate that because I don't want everyone and their mama reaching into a tub with their gross unwashed hand touching a utensil I could potentially be putting in my mouth. 2. General cleanliness around the food truck. They had a garbage for you available. A table for other condiments you could possibly use, and the napkins were filled. 3. They give you a hand wipe in your meal package. I'm not talking about that small dinky alcohol square that restaurants give you that only get your finger tips. They gave out legit towelettes!! Large ones that you can wipe your whole face with. It's like one step less than a real warm face towel. Pretty great Food Truck experience if I do say so myself!

I can't help myself every time I see this truck. I feel like a kid hearing the ring of the ice cream truck. I love their lobster roll at 20.00 I feel like it is a deal. The roll is packed full of large chunks of delicious lobster. I recently discovered their fish tacos they re amazing and prices nicely for convenience and quality. I think it was two very filing tacos for 9.00. The big problem for me is o want to get both so bring a Freind to split is the beat of both worlds. The staff are very friendly and patient. Thanks for showing up down town and doing the Elk Grove Western Festival.

This was one of our stops at the Sactomofo food truck event and it was fabulous. We started with the Lobi pop which is half a lobster tail on coleslaw with super thin shoestring fries for $10. A great deal. The lobster was perfectly cooked with a delicate sauce that allowed the lobster flavor to shine. The coleslaw was fresh and crisp and equally carefully dressed to compliment, not compete with the lobster. The fries were amazing: unbelievably thin and crispy and mixed well with all the other elements. A beautiful dish. We next tried the lobster bisque which was also perfect. A beautifully smooth soup base with tiny (and one huge) chunks of lobster. There was a swirl of cream on top and a light sprinkling of parsley. The flavors were fresh and the lobster taste was first and foremost. We loved it so much we took a quart home for tomorrow. GREAT FOOD TRUCK FARE.

I am a huge fan of the restaurant. Go there frequently.Love it.But the food truck was disappointing for me.I ordered the steak tacos and the calm chowder fries without the calm chowder. (I just wanted some fries.)The meat in the tacos was cold. (Which I would expect to be hot.) This also tells me it was cooked the night before, unless this is a new way of doing tacos. The calm chowder fries came with the calm chowder.Probably won't go back.

Disappointed as I was really looking forward to the Rudy's Seafood Louie salad, yes pricey but really good. So first, not told they didn't carry any seafood but shrimp so really Shrimp Louie but not told when ordering and the price is $22, so when I received our to go order I was tdisappointed with what I saw. This is in no way a salad worth $22, so I went back and asked where is the rest of my salad, I was told it's all the seafood we have. So why are you selling a lobster roll if all you have is shrimp. Do Not waste your money, make your own salad and save yourself the frustration. See the the lousy salad, that I received and my husband was very generous with his tip Lettuce must be at a prime cost as well because it was missing and didn't even fill the tray.

Disappointing. Got the clam chowder bowl for lunch today because I had a cold and wanted something comforting. I was pretty disappointed in how little the cup of soup was for the price of $9. After further inspection, the chowder itself was too thick and clunky. It didn't have that nice creamy texture. It also was not hot. It was warm to the touch, not steamy like it just came out of the pot. I wouldn't order the clam chowder here again. A Campbell's soup of clam chowder would be better, sadly.

Drove past this place and the wife made me turn around. I am not big on seafood, but they had an awesome prime rib dip. Absolutely loved it!My wife got the street tacos and claim chowder. Very delicious! I can't wait to go back! The decor on the truck is pretty awesome too!
