Rockmont Lights in Natomas is all they say it is and more!My friend, daughter and I wanted to check out Christmas lights last night and decided to check out Rockmont Lights instead of fighting the Fab 40's crowd. It was a first time for all of us and we weren't sure what to expect. We arrived around 7:30pm and it was already pretty busy, but we found some parking on a nearby street. Most of the streets surrounding Java Court were festively decked out and flooded with people - we made our way over to Java Court and I was so surprised to see a massive Christmas tree in the center of the court. There was Santa and The Grinch happily taking photos with families and a couple of fire pits that people were warming up by! They were handing out candy canes to passing cars and I believe they were even selling hot cocoa in front of a few houses! You can drive around the area, but I highly recommend walking it to fully experience the magic that Rockmont Lights has to offer! Make sure you bundle up though! Rockmont Lights definitely gives Dovewood Court and even some streets in the Fab 40's a run for its money! We will be visiting every year now and making it a new tradition!

We decided to check out this xmas light display this past Sunday and had an enjoyable time on a cold but pleasant evening. Street parking near Java Court was blocked off by orange cones, but we had no problem parking 1-2 blocks away and walking over. We only explored the streets near Java Court since they seemed to be lit brighter than other parts of the neighborhood (meaning most homes participating in the holiday showcase, with string lights connecting all of the homes for entire blocks). The sets and decorations were quite impressive and definitely captivating, elaborate scenes and lighting designs, and props and characters including hello kitty, charlie brown, penguins, cats and dogs, other animals, minions, gingerbread men, snowmen, darth vader, skeletons, carnival scenes, hot air balloons, trains, unicorns, and even a narwal... as well as santa of course. Most of the residents went all out, and clearly put effort into spreading the christmas spirit. I even saw santa's mailbox, noting that kids could actually get a reply from santa if they drop a letter off. Free of cost and not overcrowded during our visit this past weekend, we had a great experience and certainly appreciate everything Rockmont Lights has to offer.

4.5 starsDuring the days leading up to Christmas there's a handful of neighborhoods decorated with Christmas lights in the Sacramento area worth driving to and this is definitely one of them. The Fab 40's in downtown Sac, Pebble Creek in Rocklin, Dovewood Court on Orangvale and here at Rockmont in Natomas are on my must- sees every holiday season. Pro tip: Westlake Charter school is a good place to park because you will be a short walking distance enough to the fun. We like to bring a large thermos of hot water, packs of hot chocolate, syrofoam cups and make our own hot chocolate to keep the kids warm while we walk around. There's also houses that sell it, cash & venmo are acceptable ways of payment. If I have time, I like to make popcorn and chocolate chip cookies at home too, then bump Christmas trap music in the car ride there. We love walking vs driving around the neighborhoods the best, hot cocoa in hand, because like a tiny tot, we get to enjoy soaking in the festive lights as much as we want. It's such a sweet way to spend an hour or so soaking in the Christmas Spirit of the season with the kiddos. Some sweet surprises this year that I noticed was a mailbox to drop letters to Santa, my fave house decorated like National Lampoons Christmas, & a gingerbread man as big as a house. Java Court, the most heavily decorated houses there accepts canned food for donations for those in need. Try & remember to bring some to support your local communities. This year we went early in the season, the 1st week of December, and there were not a lot of people yet filling up the streets & sidewalks. We came here a second time closer to Christmas, and there were so many people, it was not as enjoyable. I highly suggest coming early in December, or a weekday evening, even stopping by the grocery store to get snacks or coffee before coming to enjoy yourself & keep warm. Enjoy your holidays & merry Christmas!
