The "John Wayne" with an egg (extra) and wheat toast. Avocado and sour cream on the side.

What a great place for breakfast! It was my first time here since hearing endless accounts of Kim's, the former restaurant, and the taxidermy. Fortunately, the taxidermy is removed, yet the charm of a bygone era basic downtown diner, non-chain restaurant, remains. It almost appeared closed from the dark and unoccupied appearance from the outside, but don't let that stop you from opening the door! The place is quite large and long as a space, and most patrons are toward the middle and not in view from the windows. We found a comfortable, cozy booth, and we were waited on immediately by a very energetic and pleasant server. She was very cordial and accommodating, especially with checking in to be certain we were satisfied and had what we needed, but never obtrusive. I very much appreciate that type of service. There are new owners, and the place seems very well run.The menu, for both breakfast and lunch, is broad and extensive, yet I found missing a couple of things, like a hash type dish or pancakes with eggs. There are caramel brule pancakes and eggs, but the caramel brule seems overkill. I suppose you can easily get the latter as just the short stack pancakes and add eggs. A couple of dishes mimic a hash dish, so it's not so bad. The "John Wayne" comes close. Plus, they do have some incredible sounding breakfast burritos.I had the "Dolly Parton" with an additional of peppers and onions, which the server asked if I wanted added. It comes with three eggs, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, cheese, and peppers (I guess I got extra peppers? Jalapeños? It was just $1 more). My dining partner had the "John Wayne" skillet with the addition of a sunny side egg, also inquired by the server. The meal was incredible, simply delicoous, and perfectly prepared. The portions are enormous and a real value for the price. I had no complaints, the kitchen knows what they are doing.I had mine with country potatoes, and they were excellent, very tasty. Of course, those of you who follow me on Yelp know I like spicy heat in my food. A bucket of hot sauce selections was brought to the table (always use Tabasco!) when I asked for some hot sauce. The toast, sourdough, is AMAZING! Thick slices of truly great bread. I could have eaten just a plate of toast. (they could ramp up the selection of jelly and jam from Smuckers packets, but, hey, it is a diner after all.)I tried a taste of the "John Wayne," and it was awesome. It was very flavorful and a dish I would get for certain. The coffee was great, and overall, a wonderful breakfast! I will go back to try other items.Inside, the restaurant is a bit dark and dated, yet that somewhat adds to the charm of stepping back in nostalgic time. There was also a bit of a funky smell, perhaps because they had just wiped down the table (disinfectant?). I'm glad they do, but the smell lingered. We were told they are about to become a BBQ place, which is very much needed in Lincoln, so we are very glad to know that! There will be a restaurant name change, Hops and Hogs. The new owners are doing great and wish them well. Keep up the great food and service, and I'll become a regular, and especially to try the BBQ!

I brought lunch home yesterday from Red's Country Kitchen. While a little disappointed with the "condition" of the food, the portions were generous and prices competitive. My order was simple - a Turkey Club and Onion Rings. Unfortunately, both the sandwich and the rings were soggy. Maybe the food would have been better if I had eaten in the restaurant?? I will try them again ... eating inside,

Food: ordered the chili verde over eggs that came with choice of potatoes. The chili verde was tasty and tender. I had my eggs over easy hoping for more of a huevos rancheros vibe. Just wished the verde was a little more saucy for my order attempt lol. Opted for the home potatoes; they were a tad over cooked. Also ordered the French toast breakfast. French toast was good, sausages were huge, and eggs done just right. Service: fast, kind, and often checked on us. Ambience: Old country feel. Kid friendly. Lots of seating in front, booths along the wall, and seating in back. I'd like to go back and try out their dinner menu.

I've wanted to try this place since the ownership change from Kim's to Red's, so today, I went for a drive and ended up here.Everybody was just as friendly, as they always have been. It doesn't look like there's been much remodeling done, but it didn't need any. The place is as cozy and down home as it has always been. The menu has changed.... They do have more things than they used to have. However, I've always loved the pork chili Verde omelette, so I decided to see how these people did it. It's now called the "Pancho Villa scramble."Overall, it was very good. I asked for fruit instead of potatoes, and the cup of strawberries that I was brought were very good The sauce was just as good as I remember it. It had a lot of flavor, and a bit of a "kick" to it, but not to the point where it blew out my taste buds. I don't like too much spice, and this was well within where I like it.The only thing I could possibly say, was, while the pork was delicious, The cook on the pork was a bit uneven. Some of the pieces were juicy and tender, and some of the pieces were a bit dry. Still, I did like it.The prices are a little bit on the high-end, but still reasonable. I do realize that prices for everything have gone up. They do still offer a military/veterans discount as well. It's good to see that the old place is being well taken care of. I will be back. Thank you!

Red's Country Kitchen is the newest restaurant - as of this writing - to serve "Americana" cuisine in the heart of downtown Lincoln, CA. Red's may be new, but Lincoln locals who appreciate fine food will remember this fine restaurant as Kim's Country Kitchen. As you enter the restaurant, you'll be greeted by a friendly staff member, and you'll enjoy perhaps the most "funky" decor of any restaurant in Placer County. I've posted reviews on over 200 restaurants in Placer County and, so far, Red's tops my list for the most creative, innovative, and... may I say funky? ... decor in Placer County. When I say "funky," I'm talking about mounted animals, antiques, lanterns, a boat, a canoe, tools and countless vintage photos of the area. The decor definitely adds to the charm, the atmosphere and the great food served at this fine diner. The dining room features a large table with about a dozen seats, which is perfect for local gatherings. Red's is a favorite gathering for groups of Lincoln locals and for local service organizations, such as the local Lions and Rotary clubs."The Breakfast Platter," is a weekday special, offered from 07:00 until 11:00, weekday mornings for the great price of $8.99. It's also known as "The Breakfast Special..." but what's in a name? Your breakfast includes two eggs cooked to your request, a slab of hashbrowns, and your choice of toast. What's not to love about a breakfast like this?I ordered my two eggs fried sunnyside up, and thanks to the talent of the chef, my eggs arrived perfectly fried to my order. The slab of hash brown potatoes... WOW! I enjoyed a generous slab of hash brown potatoes, which were perfectly grilled to a almost-crunchy, crispy golden brown on the outside, yet tender, juicy and white on the inside. Trust me if you're a lover of hashbrowns... these hashbrowns made my Wednesday, as the contrast between the crispy crust on the outside and the tender juiciness inside made for amazing contrast, and a delightful hashbrown dining experience! Red's Country Kitchen didn't disappoint, as the hash browns were as good as it gets. The one slice of toast - sourdough - which was my choice of toast, was toasted perfectly, cut in half, and coated with melted butter. My kind of toast...I confess that I did add a bit of Cholula Mexican hot sauce from the bottle on the counter, as I'm a total fan of hot sauce on my eggs and potatoes, unless I order a side of gravy. The hot sauce simply enhanced my meal, as my breakfast was "stand alone" delicious any way you look at it. Oh yeah... a little salt and pepper on the eggs...Your weekday morning, and most likely your whole day will be complete when you begin your day with "The Breakfast Platter" at Red's Country Kitchen. The price is right, the portion size is perfect, and the meal is delicious. For all Placer County "foodies" who appreciate delicious, "old school" diner cuisine, Red's Country Kitchen has your breakfast and lunch cravings covered every day of the week. For amazing food, just like mom used to make, head over to Red's Country Kitchen, located in downtown Lincoln, CA.Are you a fan of "old school" dining and "Americana" cuisine? Well... Red's Country Kitchen is definitely the restaurant that you're looking for. I rate this fine eating establishment at 5 stars, anyway I look at it.

Reds is bought out by Hops and Hogs.Too bad, slow for food to come out, no seasoning on potatoes. Was told after I could have added peppers and onions. Recheck the menu that option was no where on the menu. Biscuits were re steamed so no crust just soft and moist. Gravy is a bit sweet Super cute place, and decor.

What a huge disappointment it definitely is not Kim's country kitchen anymore. Oh my God the food was not very good. Bacon was poor quality in the staff. Doesn't know how to give correct customer service being a waitress I do not recommend going here. I would go to Sterling Café. They have good food great service.

Was out for a drive on Sunday of the Memorial Day weekend and stopped for breakfast at Red's Country Kitchen. We were greeted immediately when we walked through the front door. Allowed to seat ourselves we took a booth towards the back of the building. The decor is definitely "country chic" with lots of Americana decor scatter about. Our server was very friendly and prompt to the table. The building must be old as the ceiling was made of the tin type with decorative style typical of the 1800's. OI had the full serving of the "biscuits and gravy" while my partner had the "pulled pork" sandwich with a side of their homemade fries. It took a little time for our order to arrive, however, the people sitting behind us, who arrived much later than we did, received their food before us! When our food did arrive the biscuits and gravy were lukewarm. While the homemade chips accompanying the pulled pork sandwich were cold. Perhaps that's the way they're supposed to be served. The taste however was wonderful!! I tasted the sandwich and it was excellent!! And the flavor of the biscuits and gravy was also really good. Overall I definitely enjoyed my time at Red's Country Kitchen! So if you ever find yourself in Lincoln, CA, do yourself a favor, and stop by. Check it out and I don't think you'll leave disappointed!

Felt like a burger, so I called to make sure they're open, yep til 9. So I can get a burger if I come in now, yep. We drive over, and Reds isn't there anymore. I think they had calls transferred to the Rocklin. The Lincoln location is now Hops & Hogs.
