First time trying Ethiopian food and it HIT THE SPOT. Everything had such deep flavors of spice and was even reminiscent of some Filipino dishes (like awaze tasting similar to kaldereta for being sautéed with tomatoes and bell peppers). We ordered:*Large Meat Sambusas - 12 for $15.50*Combo for 4 - $16.50/pp comes with chicken tibbs, doro wot, awaze beef, fish tibbs, and the vegetarian combo *Tej Honey Wine - $24/bottleAlso that tej got me buzzin!! I'm quite the heavy weight but one glass got me feelin gooood. The menu is so affordable as well. You can definitely walk out of here spending less than $20/pp and still being stufffed if you order a combo platter! If you love whole and well-rounded flavors like curries or stews, definitely try out Queen Sheba

The customer service was excellent. I love how intormative the menu was about ethiopian culture as well. I definitely want to come out a Sunday for the coffee ceremony. We had the vegetarian combo and beef tibs. I actually preferred most of the vegetarian dishes to my delite. My favorite was the cabbage, chickpeas, salad, and the potatoes and carrots. We also had their special honey wine which is very sweet and delicious. I also tried the hibiscus drink which tastes like winter holidays in a cup!! I always order it when eating here. The food is always good. There is a chef in the back who is perfection and another who is slightly behind perfection only due to not cooking the lentils and chickpeas to complete softness all the time. We are never disappointed when we eat here and your tastebuds will dance with delight if you choose to eat here!

This was my first time trying Ethiopian food and I had a good experience! This place is on Broadway so there's mainly street parking. The place is a good size, not too big and not too small. However when i went it seemed understaffed. It wasn't busy but service was extremely slow. It took her 15 minutes to bring water. The food took like 30-40 minutes to come out. We got the meat appetizer to share and it was pretty good. It came with sweet chili sauce which tastes delicious together!I also got the mango drink to try. It was very tasty and refreshing! Fir food, I ordered the combo A, which was supposed to be spicy but there wasn't even a hint of spice though. It came with chicken, beef, kik wot, and a bit of salad greens, and of course the famous injera bread. The food had good flavor and the injera wasn't as sour as I thought it would be; they actually complement each other. The food was very filling. I got so full after only eating a third of my plate! Fyi, there's no utensils because you're supposed to be eating it with your hands. It was a fun experience.

Here for a poetry slam but eating dinner first! Classic Doro Wot and Gomen with nice fluffy Injera. One of the things a missed while living out of state for 13 years. They're good and they have "spirit"Cakes made with liquor...yummy. The cakes are also vegan or gluten free. I'm gonna try the lemon rum or chocolate kahlua. Will post pics later, stay tuned!

I came back here years later and the food is still fantastic. Ethiopian food is not the most common, and it's always fun to try eating different curries with injera. I ordered one of the combo plates and it's a great value for under $20! Got to try the fish tibbs and chicken tibbs, and gomen. The chicken and fish were seasoned very well and pack a load of flavor, plus were super tender. The injera has a bit of sourdough taste and pairs well.

I came here for another UYE put on by Bridget W.: https://www.yelp.com/events/sacramento-uye-eat-your-veggies-queen-sheba?ytl_=fbeda15303ce4cac928112fcd21e0e08&utm_medium=email&utm_source=email_event_reminder&utm_campaign=Jun-18-2024 I feel very honored to be included in these vegetarian specific UYE's that cater to vegans and vegetarians! I met up with a few long time Yelp friends who were looking forward to trying this Ethiopian restaurant. Bridget W. was already a regular and highly recommended this place. The drive getting here and locating nearby parking was a little stressful since they don't have a private parking lot. But I was happy when we located a spot out front. However, there were confusing signs that warned about road construction and our time for dinner was within their mentioned time frames. We took a chance anyway, and was lucky enough not to face a ticket along with other patrons. Our waitress was very nice. She offered menus and ice water right off the bat. I ordered the Signature Vegetarian Combo that had generous portions of 5 vegan/veggie specialties, plus a garden salad. They also give you a plate of rolled breads/tortilla style (what I like to call) "scrolls." Ethiopian food is traditionally meant to be eaten by hand and using the "scrolls" for dipping into your food or wrapping it burrito style. Of course, utensils are still available. We did have to wait a long time for our dinners to be prepared. Fortunately, I ordered a small fried appetizer to get started and appease my hunger pangs. When our dishes eventually arrived, we all agreed that everything was very tasty. Each helping was flavorful in it's own right. I even had sufficient left overs to enjoy the next day! We had some drawbacks when it came to paying separate checks. Apparently they charge a little extra if you use a charge card, but they give a discount if you pay cash, which half of us did. We spent a long time trying to figure out our individual bills and then, they didn't have enough change for larger bills. It was a bit of conundrum, and we are still not sure how it all ended up. But the owner or manager was extremely nice and did his best to get us through the confusion. We just wanted to make sure that they got the tips they all deserved.I enjoyed this time socializing with my friends, but we also mentioned to each other, that it would have been nice to have some music in the background. They had a large flat screen TV showing Ethiopian videos that had dancing and singing going on, but it would have been nice to actually hear and appreciate the music. This would have given the restaurant a more Ethiopian atmosphere to go along with the dining experience. Other than that, we loved the uniqueness of our choices.

Yum! My first time trying Ethiopian food and I really enjoyed everything I had here. Adding to that, I found everyone who works here to be kind and inviting, and the new space post fire looks and feels really nice. Win win. My bad habit of reviewing places after one visit continues. If I had a really nice time I just want people to know about it!I would recommend not trying to split checks or trying to pay with a combo of cash and cards when you visit, as that took us awhile to figure out. All was good in the end, and it was honestly my bad for not asking ahead of time if that was something they could do. My sensitive system was very happy to find that they offered both vegan dishes and the ability to request mild spiciness (have extra spicy and think of me) on their easy to read menu. I had my pick of several vegan entrees and appetizers. Dave O. and I split the veggie sambusas (I am not sure if that's the right word, alternatively, lightly fried triangle turnovers of goodness) appetizer and I ordered the vegan combo plate as an entree since I could not decide which of the handful of dishes I wanted to order. This allows a patron to try several of them at once. The vegan combo included the Misr Kik Wot (red lentil dish), the Kik Wot (yellow lentil dish), Gomen (not making the reference is hard, you're welcome, this is spinach and collard greens, which I have not had since I stopped eating meat and wow so yummy), sauteed cabbage, sauteed potatoes, sauteed carrots, and green salad with tomatoes and onions all served on top of the tasty, tangy spongey flatbread called Injera. Entrees also come with a basket of rolled Injera to share. All was delicious and flavorful. My favorite was the yellow lentils and cabbage. And sambusas. Everything. All the things. I had asked for the red lentil dish to be made mild spicy, and that worked out well. I also ordered a tasty Ethiopian inspired Pale out of an Oakland based brewery, Gojo. Sometimes they have imported beer, and it looks like imported wine is always on the menu. So many cool things to try. I've already got my to try list for next time. There's tofu tibbs, Shiro Wot (ground chickpea dish), a stew, and fresh cottage cheese (obvi not vegan but I'm not so we good). I am not used to so many delicious choices. My friends and I had a really nice time visiting and eating our fill. Everybody had leftovers. The view from the big windows was mostly trees on Broadway, and it was really nice to look at while the fans blew cool air on our table. There was also the music video channel to look at. A great way to spend a summer evening and I hope to again soon. They have a vegan buffet weekdays during lunch hours! And yeah there's stuff for meat eaters to come along too. Parking: street, be aware of signs and construction zones, no lotBathroom Report: mood lighting, A+Vegan Corner: all the choices, just be sure to indicate vegan so butter is not used in any of the cooking (from the menu)

Very good, one of the best meals I've had in a while. Roll up your sleeve and dig in type of meals. The sweetened wine is delicious. Gave me a nice buzz. Kind staff.
