Once Pho Le on Bruceville Road in Elk Grove closed their doors a couple of years ago, I was a nomad in search of good Vietnamese food. I have tried countless places that were either not memorable or were out and out awful. I decided to try Pho Basil with absolutely no expectations and even less hope. A few things that have been removed from the Vietnamese restaurant scene are durian shakes, crispy taro salad and delicious vermicelli noodle dishes. I've missed these a lot in the last couple of years. Pho Basil not only offers all three of these things but they have an extensive menu all at a price that's incredibly affordable. The crispy taro salad is divine and even if I plan to have something else during my visit, I always order that salad to take home for dinner. It's epic to say the least with texture and taste and all of the delicious profile I absolutely love about Vietnamese food. Even if I don't get to the crispy taro salad and the crispy part becomes soft, I find the salad is just as delicious. There is tons of shrimp in it and every aspect in fact is generous with a salad. The durian shakes is my perfect dessert; sweet, creamy and very custard like. It's actually a shake I would buy every day if I could make it make sense. Very reasonably priced as well. The last couple of times I've had the beef vermicelli combo and it's absolutely delicious as well.I'm so glad I found this place and took a chance. I seem to be landing there at least once a week just because it's so damn good and that includes the staff who are really nice!

I had lunch at Pho Basil with my family today, and it was a great experience. The restaurant is big and very clean, making it a nice place to eat. The food was really tasty! I had the Pho, and it was so good- full of flavor and very satisfying. My family loved their food too. The service was just as good. The staff were super friendly, kind, and helpful, which made everything even better. I highly recommend Pho Basil if you want good food, great service, and a nice place to eat. I'll definitely be back!

Why is the broth here so greasy?? D; . Both the pho and bun bo hue broths give an unpleasant oil-slick mouthfeel. Taste-wise, the pho broth tastes like primarily straightforward beef broth with very minimal star anise & co. flavorings and the bun bo hue broth tastes like as if a lot of instant seasoning mix went into it (pretty salty actually). Meat fixings are decent; fairly tender.Saving grace is the passion fruit soda lol it has real fruit purée in it. Super refreshing!Ehh overall not impressed and with all of the pho spots in the area I'd say this one is a hard pass.

My vermicelli bowl was amazingly fresh and delicious. Service was outstanding. Such kind folks here. It's a typical Vietnamese restaurant ambiance setup. I'm not coming here for the atmosphere. It's great food and great service. What more can you ask for. I plan to be back soon.

From a converted Ramen fan.I won't claim to preferring Pho over Ramen now but I can at least say that I can enjoy either one and there isn't a clear favorite.I was probably scorned from a few not so good Pho places before but the complaints I had previously were resolved here (flavorless broth, weird tasting meatballs, etc).Opted for the #13 Combination Pho (Large) and it did not disappoint, the broth was flavorful and they did not skimp on all cuts of beef, tripe and tendon. Finished as much as I could but still had some left over to take home.We also got an order of their egg roll appetizer which was just as delicious -- crunchy and each bite had equal amounts of filling.Overall, i'd say this place was great. Price is about what you'd expect from a Pho place in the area and service was nice and quick.

I ordered takeout from here once and thought the food was acceptable so we dined in this time, but I was not happy with my food. We were there pretty early and the place was empty. I honestly felt like they may have served me old/leftover food from the day before. I ordered a Pho Tai. The broth was fine. The beef, however, was overcooked, dry, and tough. There was also some extra beef bits coating on it, not sure why as I don't usually see that. The noodles were hard and stuck together despite my efforts to loosen them up in the hot broth. Also, if you are craving Pho Ga for the chicken soup, don't order it here. They use the beef broth to make their chicken noodle soup.To add to the bad food we had, the booth I was seated in had a very dirty spot where it seemed like they never bothered cleaning/wiping. Overall, unsatisfied with my experience.

Seated quickly. Spacious restaurant. Ordered large combo pho & bun bo hue (only available in large bowl). Both soups were flavorful and packed with ingredients. Will be back again soon.

Came here for dinner on a weekday and it was busier than expected. We were pointed to a table. I got the fried calamari appetizer and a bowl of pho. The calamari looked underdone and didn't have a golden color. It wasn't really crispy either. I probably would not get it again. The pho is pretty standard in terms of portion and taste. Overall a decent pho spot but nothing special in terms of food or service.

I will be honest, I came here yesterday and forgot what I had ordered but I know it was the 17. Left with a food coma and a full belly. I am obsessed with their bun Bo hue, but I wanted to give their pho a try. I am never disappointed by this place. They aren't shy about their portions and it's always coming out fresh and hot. I don't think their broth is "greasy", its flavor. The place is always empty, but they do deserve more customers and attention. The workers are very attentive and sweet, they aren't overbearing and are friendly. The price is so reasonable for what they serve. I'll becoming back again soon. Yum!

Food is always consistent and good here! I like the Pho and they give you a good amount of noodle and meat for a medium bowl! Service is quick and the waiters and waitresses always check on you. Ambiance is just like any authentic Vietnamese spot
