Came to Palace Food Services for dinner with a friend and to try Nigerian food for the first time. Came out of Palace Food Services... underwhelmed.By the name, I would not have thought Palace Food Services was a Nigerian restaurant as well as a night-club/bar! It really sounds like a food catering establishment. Anyways, walking into the dim and empty restaurant (save for one mom and kids), we were not greeted. My friend read on Yelp that you're supposed to find yourself a seat. It would have been nice to have a sign up front that mentions that. We ordered: Meat Pie - this was ordered since they were out of oxtails as a just-to-try. It came out MUCH later than our entree and was actually still cold in the middle from the frozen peas and carrots. The taste and pastry outside were good though.Goat Egusi Soup with Fufu - At the time, this (not even filled) bowl of goat egusi was $25. It only came with a few pieces of goat, and the rest were bones. Tastewise, I really enjoyed it. And the fufu had a very sticky mashed potato consistency that was very messy, but flavorful too. Side of Jollof Rice - The rice was a little dry and wasn't my favorite. The price to amount of food ratio is wildly off in my opinion. Looking back at the menu, I was shocked to see jollof rice under the kid's section to be $20+! If that jollof rice portion was the same as the dome we received.... smh. The man that took our order and helped us throughout our meal was very nice, but that was about it. Overall, not our best first experience, so we are on the search for a redemption West African restaurant to try.

The food was really delicious and the wait wasn't long. When I complained about something, the owner was very kind and responsive. I'd definitely return here.We ordered the spicy plantain appetizer and the lemon pepper wings appetizer. For mains, we each had a platter (meet plus rice and plantain): one goat, one chicken, one beef. I didn't like the beef but my friend who ordered it did. The chicken and goat were great!

WHY WE WENT HERE:- dinner with a friendTHE LOOK (FROM THE OUTSIDE):- located in The Midway Shopping Center off El Camino Ave (closest to Fulton Ave cross street)- good amount of parking availableTHE LOOK (FROM THE INSIDE):- stage - bar in the center- booth seating against the wall- bar stool seating available as well- for a Saturday evening it was pretty deadTHE MENU:- appetizer- chef's special- build your own- kids menu- desserts- sides- non-alcoholic beveragesWHAT WE ORDERED:- goat egusi with fufu- jollof- meat pieTHE TASTE:*** all African food we have had prior to this experience have been East African (Ethiopian/Eritrean); this was our first West African cuisine experience; we didn't know what to expect in terms of flavor profile- goat: could have been more tender; very bony (which I've been accustomed to growing up having goat at family gatherings); only a handful of small cut pieces- egusi: peppery but could have been more flavorful- fufu: definitely starchy and like a potato mash; some parts were a bit bitter for me- jollof: smoky and spicy but not impressive- meat pie: the appetizer came out WAY after the dinner was already consumed; when it arrived it tasted way better overall than the goat egusi with fufu; there were cold spots in the meat pie from the frozen peas and carrots used; the crust was warm and buttery though- overall have nothing in the flavor profile to compare it to since again, this was our first West African cuisine experienceCUSTOMER SERVICE:- after standing by the entrance for a few minutes and no worker in sight, I checked on Yelp to find out you seat yourself; some signage should be posted on whether to wait to be seated or to seat yourself- worker who eventually came out from the kitchen was our server; he was nice but also not the most attentive- bathroom needs a LOT of attention: both stalls did NOT have the toilet seat covers; both stalls were missing toilet paper (the type for the stall toilet paper roll); one stall had home toilet paper (Charmin); soap was barely there; no towels were available; instead there were table napkins stacked on the sink counter to use for hand drying

I came in with my sister, we ordered one egusi with goat, fufu, & a meat pie:egusi with goat: 3/10 ; unfortunately this dish lacked any flavor. the taste of the fufu was stronger than the egusi. BUT the goat was tender! fufu: 2/10 ; the texture was still chunky but it did have more prominent starch taste than what i have had beforemeat pie: 5/10 ; the flavor was delicious! unfortunately, it didn't come out until after we finished our meal & then we still had to wait for it. service: 5/10 ; tidibane served us, he was nice but was not attentiveambiance: 2/10 ; we came in an hour after they had opened, nothing in the restaurant was set up. chairs were still up, silent, workers were sitting on the booths talking...I read many stellar reviews & received a lot of recommendations. I had super high hopes but was unfortunate disappointed:(

We ordered catering of Jollof rice with goat meat, Jollof rice without meat, Plantain, Fufu, and Spinach dish for over 140 people. Tidiane was very professional and hospitable. He let us try samples of the food before we decided on our selections. Our guests had American food options, but everyone couldn't stop talking about the African Food. So many guests said they would be visiting his restaurant soon. If you have a future event, or just a craving for delicious, authentic African food, we highly recommend Palace Food Services. Love,Nneka and Semaj

Food was great, but it took a really long time to be prepared even though there was only one other customer ahead of us. I think we waited about 35 minutes for our food to come out.

I ordered the chicken stew which comes with a side of fufu. The chicken was definitely really fresh, but I didn't expect it to be so sour. Maybe the tomatoes used were extra sour, regardless, the food was still good quality.

I like this place. I come often. They're not traditional in terms of food service, as it's more relaxed. I just come in and choose my own seat. There's no host so seat you. The person serving me (idk if it's the owner, but it's always the same guy) usually notices me & I'm helped quickly. He slides me a menu & a cup of water. Then brings food shortly after. Usually a 15 minute wait for my food w check ins periodically. Ambiance is cool. Think hole in the wall African place lol
