I love this cozy gem! Great performances, often in great NEW original scripts. This 40 seat venue is perfect - one can see all of the stage. You will not miss a moment. Some great set work is done too, might I add.I love the community theatre feel/aspect and the dedication of those who make the Ooley happen. A simple yet sweet ambiance.Refreshing Real - if you are looking for performance art talent in a modest setting, the Ooley is "where it's at" - check it out!!

My husband and I watched the Toyer play on Thurs., Oct 19th and there were only 3 of us in the crowd. I'm sure cold weather and a weeknight showtime is a deterrent to many. But the show must go on! And it was absolutely incredible! The two characters are very captivating and major kudos to the actor & actress who play them. Paj Crank (Peter) and Bethany Hidden (Maude) gave an all-out performance despite the low turnout. I was completely engaged in their performance the entire time. They performed as if it were a full-house. We drove out 40 minutes to watch this play and it was definitely worth the time and travel. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the Ooley Theatre along with the management/staff. They had complimentary drinks (of which, they had my favorite chamomile tea!) and wine (with a suggested donation of $3). I would definitely return to this local theatre in Sacramento to watch another play. I highly recommend Toyer as a must-watch during the Halloween time. Plan a date night and be ready for the mind games!

What a cute and adorable theater. We saw Toyer and both Paj Crank and Bethany Hidden were excellent and really committed to there characters. Elise Hodge was very welcoming and made us feel like old friends and treated us as such. I wish we had more places like these to enjoy. Looking forward to coming back and watching more plays. For Jack of Trade. Excellent play with wonderful and professional actors that did not miss a beat. Hilarious. Would love to watch it again.

We recently enjoyed a performance at this tiny venue. There are maybe 40 seats? Coffee is complimentary; if you want snacks (or if you're picky about your coffee), you should bring your own. They're friendly and low-key and you can usually stick around and talk with the performers if you'd like. For about the price of sitting in leftover popcorn at your average movie theater (if you factor in bringing your own snacks), you'll be able to see a live performance and brandish your feel-good badge for supporting local arts. Afterward, Temple Coffee & Tea - or Revolution Wines -- are just a 2-minute walk.

Aww, The Ooley Theatre. Definitely NOT going to see another show here, unfortunately. This is simply because of the venue. I'm sure there have been and will be very talented actors performing in fabulous plays, and it's a shame, they all deserve a better place.*34 seats*no bathroom in the lobby (so you have to impose on the actors to go backstage, and there's no hot water)*no air conditioning (actually a machine that makes it MORE humid)*not a horrible, but not the best neighborhood*street parking*no liquor license (if you drink, you will fall asleep in this hot theatreSo, this is a summer review, maybe in winter it is more doable, but some of the facts still remain. It's a shame, I appreciate that this is a self-starter, guy who loves theatre who wanted to make his own theatre out of a warehouse and offer a lower-rent option to small productions. It's just so far from professional, I just can't be there as an audience member. The play I saw was amazing, Toke, a production from a L.A. author, a lead bay area actress, and a cast of locals I recognize from other shows. They were great, but myself and most of the audience I talked to were miserable, unable to focus, dehydrated, and worse of all, we could barely hear the play because they had fans on. The fans were trying to keep us cool, but I could only hear the lead actress, everything else was lost. It's a new play too, so I was straining to hear and understand and I'm sorry that I just didn't get it. I honestly feel so sad for this production that chose the month of June to rent this theatre. It seems like a wash. The audience did not hear the play and we were miserably hot trying to stay in that room.Long review, I know, I want to try to be positive, someone with $$$, buy this guy an Air conditioner and a permit to add a bathroom in the lobby, or to rent a port-a-potty for each production.

I recently attended the production of "Crime and Punishment" by Dostoevsky produced by Kolt Run Creations....wow...it was riveting and well presented....The acting was point on and gave the audience a sense of both sadness and intrigue wondering, out-loud with the actors how we can justify the worse behavior yet understand it as well.I highly recommend this production...it is very small venue, but worth the time and effort to find the theater...

Often, as the theater snob that I am, it's truly difficult for me to get wrapped up in a show. To be completey removed from life for 2 hours, and submerged in a fantasy world, is often hard for most. Though when I am really moved, and I am carried to a place I didn't know exists, that memory stays with me for years to come. It shakes me, makes me feel a little out of place, and the desire to experience more like this lives on.Seeing "Smuge" at Kolt productions did just that. I was so engaged and so elated by this production that I made it my mission to be apart of this company. When you find something as beautiful as this company is, you MUST find the means to return. The space is small, the seats are snug, but it doesn't matter once those lights go up.If you're looking for a truly unique and beautiful experience, make sure to see a show with Kolt Productions at the Ooley Theater.

The theatre is small, seats are tight, but it's ok for seeing a local play. Like the idea of water, wine and champagne setting out and you donate what you wish.I will be back for other plays.

What a neat venue! Fantastic date night experience, very friendly actors and staff, and welcoming. 40 seat theatre with small and close stage that really puts you into the experience. A little stuffy as some have suggested and it would seem they could make that an easy fix. Either way, we will be back. Thanks for a great evening
