Chef Metin is super nice! We needed a cake for my husband's birthday and I wanted to get something a little more unique than a Costco cake. Looked on Yelp and saw Northstar's 5 star reviews and figured this would be a good opportunity to check it out. Great communication--Chef is fast at replying and he's super friendly in his emails. You can tell he is a happy and caring guy just based on his written responses. He also offers delivery for a small charge. I think we paid $20 which was worth it so I didn't have to worry about picking up a cake amidst a very busy schedule. Our cake was priced at $4-5/slice. Not cheap but it was reasonable. We got one mango and one strawberry. I sent photos of the theme we were going for, which was a Hawaiian theme. I wanted the cakes to look like a Hawaiian shirt. On the day of the event, Chef Metin delivered the cakes with a smile. I learned he used to be in the tech industry (I think he was a software engineer?) but now he does baking full time, which started out as a hobby. How fun! The cakes tasted great. We even had a few guests asking where we got them, to which we told them about Northstar Baking. My only area of improvement would be the look of the cakes. They didn't look like Hawaiian shirts and the color was a strange purplish-gray, which looked a little odd (though it doesn't look too bad in my photo). But I probably should have communicated a theme color or discussed the look better. But other than that, it was a unique cake and the guests were happy. Would definitely recommend Northstar and Chef Metin to friends and family!

Metin was great and very easy to work with. I told him we wanted a peanut butter chocolate cake, and he made the vision I didn't even know I had come to life. The cake was beautiful, and tasted delicious. Usually, cakes are too sugary for my taste, but this one was just right! Everyone loved it. We finished the whole thing.

It is a delight to work with Chef Metin on my son's carrot birthday cake. After finding out my son does not care for cream cheese, Chef Metin suggested to use Belgian chocolate ganache. The cake turns out amazing. My son likes it. He gave it 5/5. His comments: Not very sweet. Uniform texture is great. Carrots are grated very nicely. You can actually taste the carrots. Nuts are very fresh. Nice layering. Alternate pecan and white chocolate with yellow cream de patisserie. Our whole family loved the cake. No very sweet, and everything from the cake to the ganache are so light and fresh. We also ordered some pastries. Including fruit puffs (apple, lemon, mixed berries), cannolis, and chocolate cupcakes. Some family members really liked the puffs. One thought the cream cheese could be a bit less. One doesn't care for cream cheese. If you love cream cheese and light flaky pastries (like me), I highly recommend this. The cannolis are great. The chocolate cupcakes are very soft, and the ganache is very light. You can tell by now that not very sweet, light, and fresh is the theme/specialty of Chef Metin's cakes and pastries. I also cannot say enough of the great customer service that Chef provided. He goes above and beyond to design a cake according to his customer's request. He cares about customer satisfaction. He texted me to see how everything was. I really appreciate that. It is our first time ordering from Northstar Home Baking. We will definitely order again .

I reached out to them about creating a custom birthday cake for my spouse's birthday and Chef did an amazing job! He worked with me to create a custom creation that was absolutely perfect, and went above and beyond to deliver something more beautiful and delicious than I could have imagined! I can't reccomend enough! :)

I am so impressed.First of all, Metin answered my email questions so promptly. The whole communication was excellent. I was lucky and could score 1/2 dozen eclairs for my husband's birthday. They were so beautifully decorated! We loved them. They were not too sweet, and the chocolate top and the vanilla filling was perfection. I can't wait for another event to order some goodies. Recommend 100% - Thank you.

Called to order a birthday cake to be delivered and they say the don't deliver, but only to like weddings and such. Kind of misleading advertising.

We ordered assorted pastries for a family gathering - they were superb! Our communication with Metin was clear and quick, and payment / pick-up was easy. The best part though were the amazing fruit puffs. I wouldn't hesitate to order again and highly recommend.

Wow, where do I event start! I ordered a German chocolate cake for my mom's 60th Birthday! She is ver particular about her sweets and especially her cakes. Northstar Baking did such a phenomenal job on this cake, from the texture to taste it was simply amazing. My husband who doesn't like sweets even tried and was impressed with the flavor. The cake didn't have that over barring sugar frosting flavor, instead it was light and fluffy but still sweet enough. I will be ordering from Northstar Baking in the future.
