Disclaimer: I grew up in the bay area and my wife's grandfather is Japanese so I've had the grace of eating some really good food. Saw the reviews on this place and thought I would give it a shot since the wait at Fukumi was an hour long on a Saturday night (which is understandable) We walked in with no wait, and after about five minutes, we were asked for our order, but were only ready to order drinks at that point. The server kept coming back every few minutes asking for our order which was sort of annoying. My wife ordered a Sushi Rohl and I went with the tan tan men Ramen. Both were subpar, not to mention that the shaved carrots and cucumber in the ramen were off-putting not to mention flavorless. (Carrots and cucumber in ramen is a first for me) Anyhow, this might be an OK spot on a weekday lunch. If you work nearby, I would definitely stick to something simple like chicken teriyaki and rice - otherwise if you're looking for dinner, or to have your be sort of a treat then I would definitely not come here - there are definitely better options in the area

This place used to be pretty good! Not sure what happened. It's not horrible but it's not something I'd go out of my way to get anymore. They changed their tonkotsu broth which was a bummer to discover. I find the other ramens to be missing flavor. The egg isn't soft and gooey, usually just hard boiled. The chashu is a little disappointing. And the sushi I have had has somehow been salty? I do like the texture of their ramen noodles. But everything flavor wise has become "meh".

I used to love this place, has gone way downhill. Ordered 4 chicken teriyaki entrees, spent over $80 and the food was burnt, dry, and lacking any flavor. I called to report our concerns and the server's response was "oh okay, I'll let them know" and hung up. If this is the way you treat your customers then you should leave our community. I'm so disappointed and won't be going back.

The restaurant had a clean and slightly outdated ambiance. Although the service was pleasant and the food was average in taste, the experience was slightly uncomfortable due to the feeling of being watched whenever you looked up. The generous portion of ramen and sushi rolls was a positive aspect.

Good options for the Bento Boxes [Rocklin CA] This was my second visit at NOMA, the first time was a takeout order a while back. I was able to finally have a dine-in experience and give a review. We had dinner here on a weekday, business was slow. Nice ambiance with a couple of flatscreen TV's.Mom loves Japanese food, which was why we chose this place... didn't matter that we just had an AYCE sushi birthday celebration the day before. Ahhh! Anyway, we ordered bento boxes. I chose a 3-Item Bento Box - beef teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, and mixed tempura. It was served with miso soup, house salad and rice. The Kewpie salad dressing was so good. Also loved the tangy, rich, and sweet flavors on the teriyaki salmon and tender beef. The lightly battered mixed tempura was not oily and crispy. The dipping sauce (Tentsuyu) added flavors.Lastly, the prices were great and very reasonable. $21.95 for a three item bento. Excellent service. We didn't order any sushi so, unfortunately, I can't comment on its taste or its freshness. It was a hot day for ramen so have to come back for it another time. Review #3465

Ordered the garlic Raman bowl and the rainbow, ate the roll as an appetizer and it was great! The jalapeño pepper gave it the perfect spice the black garlic Raman bowl was off the chart! Great broth, noodles cooked perfectly and slurping the entire dish to empty! A definite winner and another visit here!! This is definitely the number one ramen house we have been to since we moved to the greater Sacramento area !

Stopped in on a Sunday night for to try a new place around town. The place is well lit and clean in appearance. As bay area foodies where you get to experience an endless array of cuisines, this doesn't come close to being good. The bento boxes we tried contained the usual suspected items. The proteins were just ok in texture and flavor. The tempura was mushy and just plain bad. And, the California rolls were thinner than a normal roll would be, plus you only get 6. Overall, a complete let down all the way around.

This place has delicious ramen, great service, and is a nice laid-back restaurant. The prices were good. The flavors were enjoyable. The Tan Tan Men ramen is spicy, but not too spicy. The Black Garlic Tonkatsu Ramen has a good umami flavor. The lady who served us was also very nice. The Ramen was very filling. I recommend this place to others.

My sister and I set off on a mission to identify the BEST ramen in the extended Sac area, so we have now eaten at around a dozen places that people claim as having the best ramen --- Ramen 101, Fukumi, Naruto Show Me The Sushi, etc. we STOPPED our search at NOMA. So far and by far, this is the best around. And not just the ramen! We also tried their chashu bun appetizers (amazing) and cold soba (great price, great meal!)I've had Ramen in the Bay area and also in Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka. I am picky. But this ramen is pretty dang good. I won't say it's the best, but it's definitely the best around this area.I will say that sometimes they overcook the chashu when reheating it into the ramen, so you'll end up with a tougher chunk in your broth. But when you try that same chashu on their buns, it's always perfect, so I know it's a matter of awkward reheating and not bad cooking.
