Nectar at The Villa - Lounge

I met with my book club today at Nectar, the lounge, which is right next-door and adjacent via a doorway to Nectar the salon. This will be important later. When we first walked in, we were impressed. Cute little conversation nooks with comfy furniture in little corners, a decent wine and beer list, and some appetizers. The menu says all beers are $5 on Thursday all day. We figured it was perfect for what we needed. We settled into a corner that was near the salon, as there was no other seating inside.Did I mention the comfortable furniture? Well, it's a good thing it was comfortable. We sat for nearly an hour, waiting to have our order taken. The first two of us to arrive we're given some water to drink, but myself, and the other straggler were never offered water. During this time we got to experience the...ahem... aroma of the salon next-door. Peroxide and other hair products don't usually lead to an appetite. We decided to wait it out. And wait we did.After nearly an hour, the one employee who appeared to be working today, came to take our order. My friend ordered a glass of wine and she told him that they were out of that one, so he chose another option. I then ordered a beer, and she started to leave the table. Somehow she hadn't seen that there were 4 of us? Friend who had been ignored quickly said , 'and I'LL HAVE ..." to get the server's attention, and then ordered a glass of wine, while our final friend ordered a beer. There was a buffalo cauliflower appetizer on the menu, and we ordered it for the table. The server arrived after a few minutes with one glass of wine, which she sat in front of me, and a beer which she placed in front of my friend. We assumed that she had just mixed up the two of us, so we traded, and I took a sip of my beer. She then came back with another glass of wine. She started to leave and told us to let her know if there was anything else we needed, so we reminded her that we had another beer and an appetizer coming. This is when she told me that the beer that I had ordered was one that they were out of. I held up the one in my hand and said oh, is this not mine? Since we had already waited an hour, my friend just took the beer that I had sipped from, and I waited while she went to get me my new order. When we were nearly done with our drinks, our appetizer finally arrived. It was all we could do to keep from laughing out loud. That was the smallest possible plate with the smallest possible amount of cauliflower on it. A handful, but not an adult handful. Well, maybe Bernadette from Big Bang Theory, but not an average sized adult hand. For four people. You would think she would have told us that it was small and we might want more than one for the table. Honestly, I would've wanted more than one for just myself. To their credit, the cauliflower did taste good. Good thing the salon smells had ruined our appetite. We waited again and finally got our check. They had charged us for one glass of wine, the overpriced $12 handful of cauliflower, and two beers. However, the advertised five dollar happy hour price for the beer was not reflected on the check. She had charged us seven dollars each for the beers. We called this to her attention when we went to the counter to pay, as well as the fact that she had not charged us for one of our glasses of wine. She said "oh yeah. I did that to make up for the beer. We're not doing that anymore. We don't have happy hour on Thursday anymore." It seemed to have escaped her that you can't list something on the menu at a certain price and then charge a different price.Overall, they get one star for comfy couches. We won't be back.

Love the nectar! Great place to have a drink and listen to music! My wife and I have been coming here for a year or so now on the weekend. We love local group that comes here!

We LOVE this spot. You wouldn't think that a bar attached to a salon would be a go-to-neighborhood spot, but Nectar at the Villa is just that! Swanky vibe: Friendly staff: Food & drink: Dogs allowed:

Our group visited on a slow Saturday night. The bartender was friendly and in good spirits even though it was slow. The Ambiance is fabulous! Couch group seating, wonderful colors and a good Wine list!

We visited this place just the other day. There was a horrible smell of the Salon inside the lounge!! So we decided to sit outside but you could still smell the chemicals from the Salon. I will not support the owners(Moenig)and this Lounge, especially after reading N Marquez's story of the owners and their unethical conduct and unprofessionalism!!

A lounge that closes late in Folsom/El Dorado is a rarity. Has old NYC vibes, cozy couches and great wines to select from. Don't need to drive all the way to midtown to enjoy nightlife anymore! Owner was kind and personable. Looking forward to trying the food next time. Hope more people know about this new spot so it stays open for all of us to enjoy for a long long time!!!

I have to add that this place keeps getting better. Hats off to the owners and employees!

Loved this place! The food was delicious. Variety of drink selections from beer to wine. Service was awesome. The ambiance was great. Indoor and outdoor seating areas to choose from. On certain nights there is live music, which I personally have not been to yet, but definitely planning on.

Had a great time there. Would go again. The owners are amazing very accommodating. It's a fun place that has a lot of different beers and wine. Live the live music of the weekends.

The beer and wine selections are great. Also, the wait staff is very friendly, helpful and provides excellent service. There are three negatives with this place: 1. the name. Based on the name, I thought at first this place was a juice bar, 2. the decor. Deep red and black theme with overstuffed chairs, I just do not get it, and 3. the location. I could not readily find. Nectar also serves food, which I did not try. While the beer and wine selection is above average, I will not likely go back based on the decor.
