We were hanging in Roseville, and it was one of those moments where Hangry reared its head. YELP to the rescue and we decided to try Morenta's. Let's start off by saying that the Customer Service is definitely there. Staff is super friendly, and for a place that looks like it was once a dine in Taco Bell back in the old days, it has its own authentic feel to it. The food is just so so. Truly, nothing to write home about and for the price point it's really not a bargain. I ordered the steak quesadilla, which for nine dollars I wasn't overly impressed. The Asada is chopped very tiny and was really overcooked. It did not have much flavor so add in some cheese and it was a pretty bland quesadilla. The biztek ranchero is pretty to look at... the beans were really runny and lacked flavor, and the rice was a close second to that. While the rice wasn't runny, it just didn't really taste like much of anything. The meat was more flavorful, but it definitely was about the onions and peppers sautéed with the steak. Like the quesadilla, the meat was chopped and a really small pieces and was completely overcooked. The flavor profile was a bit better than everything else, but not by much .I found the overall experience to be OK, with the best part being the company. Would I dine here again? Probably not. There are so many more places that do a much better job and for the $50 spent on lunch, it's just not worth it.

I'm currently waiting for my food so I can't post a picture but their food is so authentic and bomb! I just recently moved back to sac and a lot of places out here are "watered down", especially when it comes to flavor! NOT HERE! Their green salsa is the best I've had in a long time, their prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere here is amazing. I usually get a breakfast burrito, with an horchata. It's so delicious, all their food is cooked fresh to order so it might take a few minutes longer than a fast food restaurant but it's worth it. Yenny always does me justice when ordering in person, I recommend pre/ordering over the phone if busy or in a rush.

Taqueria Morenita, formerly known as Morenita Market and Taqueria has been one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Placer County, thanks to delicious, authentic Mexican cuisine, and friendly service. Weekends are a busy time for this fine restaurant, as Roseville locals who appreciate authentic Mexican cuisine line up to place their orders. Taqueria Morenita is the most authentic Mexican restaurant that I've visited during my "foodie" adventures in western Placer County. You get a peek into the kitchen through the door to the left of the line.Taqueria Morenita operates on what I refer to as the "taqueria format," in that you walk up to the order counter, make your selection from the menu posted on the wall, pay for your order, and seat at any open table of your choice. When your order is ready, it will be brought to you by a friendly staff member, sometimes even Pancho, the talented head chef. There is a tip jar on the counter, as tips are greatly appreciated, but not expected.Chef Pancho brought a bowl of corn tortilla chips, along with a small cup of in-house-made salsa, and a Pacifico beer for dessert. A bowl of chips and salsa is included with all meals, and if you're in the mood for a second bowl, just ask, as it's on the house. From the "Weekend" section of the menu, I went with a bowl of menudo, which worked out perfectly after attending the parade in nearby downtown Roseville. Menudo and pozole, both favorites of northern Mexico are only served on weekends, unless you're lucky enough to arrive on a Monday morning when there is some left over from the weekend. Four toasted corn tortillas, a bowl of lime wedges, chopped chilantro, diced white onion, along with a shaker of Mexican orgegano and red chili pepper flakes arrived after my bowl of soup for enhancement. I squeezed lime juice into my bowl of menudo, and added the cliantro, onion and sprinkled a bit of oregano into my soup, but I passed on the chili pepper flakes. The Pacifico beer served double duty - for both appetizer and dessert - and I didn't even touch the bottle of supermarket grade Tapatio hot sauce.Every amazing soup or stew begines with a good broth, as broth is the foundation of soup, and menudo isn't an exception. The broth was simply delicious, as I could tell it was made from scratch, most likely using beef bones and scraps for the stock. Thanks the the chili peppers in the broth, the broth was a rich, brick red, flavorful, tastey, with just a little bit of "kick," and on the thick side, the way a superior broth for menudo should be. Words can't describe how wonderful this broth was...Taqueria Morenita doesn't skimp on tripe, as the stew included a generous portion - maybe even a pound - of succulent, tender, well-seasoned and juicy tripe, cut to the perfect size, and cooked just right. When I placed my order, I was asked if I wanted hominy - that's a nice touch - of course I wanted hominy, and I wasn't disappointed, as my bowl of menudo included a good helping or Mexican hominy, cooked just right. On my first spoonful of this amazing stew, I was simply hooked, as I thought I'd died and gone to heaven, or maybe a small town in northern Mexico. The broth, the tripe and the hominy all worked together to create a bowl of menudo to remember... as one of the most delicious bowls of menudo I've enjoyed during my 25 years as a resident of Placer County.I can't stay away from this amazing restaurant, as the food is delicious and the staff are super friendly, they know me, and they treat me like family. Taqueria Morenita is the most "authentic Mexican" of all the Mexican restaurants I've enjoyed during the 25+ years I've been a Placer County resident. For "foodies" and lovers of fine Mexican cuisine... this is 5-star dining.

I ordered a plate with tamales and rice and beans which was very good. Only thing I was let down by was my tamale had a bone in it the size of a quarter, but I get it. Some bones slip in sometimes, but I'm sure glad I was using my fork to open that tamale up. Service was great very nice and friendly!

The burrito was very mid, I love Mexican food I'm from the bay area and I decided to pick this place because of the reviews but outside of the reviews the food is very standard. They did not add rice into my burrito nor the guacamole. Very disappointing. They overcharge way too much. I paid $22 for a burrito and juice, also the cashier never asked me what size I wanted, she just assumed to charge me for the largest juice. I will definitely not be coming here again. I would rather go to a truck than go to this restaurant. The ambience was okay.

Based on the Yelp reviews I read, coupled with a craving for good Mexican food, I paid Morenita a visit. I was picking up dinner for the family. We ordered 5 super burritos, 4 chicken street tacos, 2 veggie tamales, 2 chicken tamales, and a guava-strawberry agua Fresca. I found it to be just a little pricey totalling just under $115. Jenny was super friendly and answered all our questions about the menu. The place was clean and the food was prepared quickly and tasted delicious. The pineapple salsa was a nice touch that you don't get just everywhere. The Adobada, carnitas, and grilled chicken in each of the items we ordered was well seasoned and plentiful. The tamales were on the smaller side, and the pork variety was not ready yet when we ordered, but the ones we tried were good. I don't have any real complaints about the food, service, or establishment. I'm sure I'll be back.

Heading back to the Bay after a long weekend basketball tourney, and burritos were def in order. Ordered an al pastor super burrito. Place looked legit and was super excited to dig in. Quality and flavor were great but where was the meat? Looked like a bean and rice burrito. Plus no spice in the burrito or accompanying salsas. Left a lot to be desired. Thankfully I'll get to makeup for it in the mission tonight.
