Great customer service and my mother also loves this establishment. I'm male but I found quite possibly the best rose water spray that I use now every night. Great place for nice gifts as well. I will be returning next time I'm in Placerville.

We are so sad to write a bad review but we want to make sure others know. We purchased a food platter that immediately showed it was NOT food safe. We called the shop immediately within the two week "return policy" and was told the manager would call back. No one called back. My husband and I emailed and were told we were now outside the 15 day window and the item had to be "unused". This is ridiculous as how else were we to find out that the item was not sealed properly for food service. Not only that but it looks terrible which was not the case when we used it and bought it. The item was INCREDIBLY expensive to add to this which adds insult to injury since we did do our due diligence in calling to share the issue with our purchase. We will be going through our credit card company to dispute this shop now. Such a bummer because we love shopping locally.

Midnight Kin is stimulating to all of the senses! I had the pleasure of shopping there yesterday, during 'Small Business Saturday'. Midnight Kin offers locally made cosmetics, skin care, and bath/home products, in a beautiful, minimalistic boutique setting.I fell in love with the Orange Ginger salt scrub, and the Luminescent facial serum. The scrub left my face smooth without over drying. The serum had a delicious, clean citrus aroma and didn't leave my face oily. I tried the highlighter, which had good pigment, but was too buttery for my taste (my friend Madi adored it). I also forgot to snag one of their lovely bath bombs, but I won't make the same mistake twice - I'll be back for some holiday shopping!!! If you find yourself in Old Placerville, be sure to pay this Lil' gem a visit!** Side Note: Midnight Kin wraps your goodies up in the most adorable bags and pouches (for the essential oils)! Perfect for gift-giving. Remove the price tags, slap on a bow, and go!

I loved this quaint tiny shop. NOT ANYMORE! Won't be back, ever! For a business who considers themselves "healthy", why NO MASKS? Apparently they can measure & mix herbs and oils & call themselves "eco-friendly", yet have NO education regarding "nature". By not wearing masks, this reflects to me that Midnight Kin has no concern for the health of their community or the many visitors to our community.

This is the only store on Main Street that I will not support. In spring / summer 2020, the mask mandate was still 100% in effect indoors. Every other staff member in every other store on Main Street was wearing a mask. I walked in and the sales person wasn't wearing a mask, and neither was her co worker. I asked her if she could put on a mask & she refused, even after I pointed out it was required by the county. She claimed "we stay 6 feet apart." This is after she handed me something and was 6 inches from my face. I was interested in some of the kitchen tools, but based on their violations of the county health mandates, I felt uncomfortable and left. I commented on their Instagram, asking if this was simply a one off situation, or if don't follow the county mandates consistently. Many businesses at the time were hosting "high risk" shopping hours for people with more Covid concerns , or offering curbside pickup / shopping. None of this was offered as a compromise. Their reply was to DM me, demanding I not post my question on their IG. Then they blocked me. I spend a lot of money on Main Street and their reply to my reasonable question was to imply they don't want me as a customer. Very disappointing. I grew up here and always shop on main to support the local businesses, especially during the pandemic & since. I have been back a couple of times since, and their merchandise is also extremely overpriced. A bottle of shampoo there was $50 lol. The undies they sell fit horribly. They lack basic knowledge of their inventory - for example I asked if a kitchen brush was made of animal hair or plant hair. Basic stuff. Do not shop here. There are several other shops on main that offer a similar assortment, and the staff is infinitely nicer!

This is a eco friendly fashion and goods shop right on the main downtown drag of main street placerville.Parking is street only, which may or may not be possible depending on time of day and what's going on but there is a parking garage a block ish away. This place is larger inside then the small narrow frontage would imply, and it's laid out in a very pleasing manner. The lighting is perfect. The items on sale are displayed perfectly. They offer a range of more or less feminine/home decor/bath stuff all of which is sustainable/zero impact and very fashionable. Not a lot of clothing, but what is carried is very comfortable. The stock of oils and lotions is superb. Staff if helpful but not chatty which i found to be perfectly acceptable for a low key browse. Pricing is in the boutique fashion range of things, reasonable enough for small purchases such as oils and soaps, iffy on things like kitchen items, and if you have to ask about the clothing you prolly won't like the answer. All in all it's a very modern and hip spot to check out.

I normally don't spend money at body care stores because I'm super cheap and I can make a lot of my own soap, jewelry, etc. BUT randomly came here on a Sunday and the smell inside was fantastic. I took a look at a few items, they seemed well made, and high quality. My bf and I each ended up making the build it yourself gift boxes for our mothers as just a random gift for them. All together we got 6 full sized soaps, a salt scrub and a lotion, plus one small and one large gift box, beautiful wrapped. Total was about $80. I felt like for what we got, the amazing customer service and the beautiful presentation, the prices were affordable and reasonable. If I'm ever in the area again I'll swing by and see if they carry new stuff. I think I said when we were walking out that I wish they had more products just because I wanted to buy more stuff. Very cute shop.

BEAUTIFUL shop. Something I'd expect from a bigger city. I love the all natural hand made products. I have tried them yet outside of the testers but I am big on skin care and look forward to buying their products in the future. The store chick was very informative and friendly. A pleasant addition to Placerville's down town.

Nice-looking shop, bad customer service and terrible return policy.I'm writing a one star review because of the overall lack of experience my wife and I have received after purchasing a VERY expensive ($116) dinner platter from this shop. After ONE use, the platter is veined and appears like it's cracking. I called twice to return it, no manager available. My wife and I both emailed, the shop manager only responded to my wife and not to me and quoted the shop's terribly naive return policy of "15 days and UN-used." How can you sell cups, bowls, kitchen utensils, and serving platters and expect them not to be tried first to make sure they're food safe?At the time of purchase, I asked the associate if this platter was food safe? She wasn't sure, so she looked up the manufacturer and it didn't say yes or no on their website. I stepped out in faith that it would be okay given that the platter was with all of the cups, bowls, utensils, etc. I feel that I was tricked and deceived and the shop won't take responsibility for selling products that are disguised as functional kitchenware, but in reality it's just a fruit or bread platter.Moral of the story, DON'T take the risk of buying kitchen products from this shop or manufacturer if you're concerned about food safety or having a product that lasts. What a pity.
