My two daughters have been enrolled here for almost two years after we decided to leave another small local private elementary school. We never regretted the switch and with all the COVID-19 closures they have only confirmed why we believe this is the best place for our kids. Within a few days of the shelter-in-place orders and school closures Merryhill had both my daughters up and running with live distance learning. They log in at designated times each day and work directly with your actual teachers. It is not the same as in-person instruction, but what better than I ever would have imagined. Especially when compared to kids in my neighborhood whose school handed them a stack of worksheets and nothing else. The staff really seems to care about the kids and their education. I cannot imagine us not staying here for the long haul. These past few weeks showed me more than anything that this is the best option in town.

I cannot believe how badly this school is ran, specially by the administration. I don't know if it used to be a reputable school and unfortunately was handed down to the wrong people, and now they're holding on to what used to be something good. But I would not recommend. There are so many reasons and better options to go in another direction.

Six years after my first review, I can say that choosing Merryhill for my son's education was the best decision! He has graduated and I can say that Merryhill fully prepared my son for high school, helped develop his confidence through team sports, and the small class sizes gave him a chance to develop lasting relationships he may not have gotten in a large sized classroom. From the Head of School (principal), teachers, front office staff to the before and after school care staff, they all are quick to respond to my questions and care about each child. If you are thinking about attending this school, take a tour and see how great it is for yourself.

This is my second review 2 years later because I can't recommend this school enough. We're relocating (again!) which is the only reason we're leaving the Merryhill Midtown family. My son has bloomed so much in the past two years and I've watched him come out of his shell, debating his point and leveraging that strong vocabulary he's learning haha. The principal of the elementary school Ms Kennedy has been a true partner, especially when it comes to understanding behaviors based on ages and stages. She's approachable, available and very encouraging to both students and parents. She has an open door policy with the kids that they leverages heavily for little things and she never looses her patience, maintains a kind, loving demeanor that helps to boost confidence in the little kiddos. There's a strong focus on representation and ensuring everyone feels at home. This spills over into how the parents interact with each other as well because the kids are the true drivers of the relationships outside of school. My son grew up on Montessori after we relocated to the US and this was the first non-Montessori setting which was just perfect for his transition into a traditional classroom setting.

I was on the fence when deciding where to send my son. He was at Brookfield for TK and it was a lousy experience. Check my review on their page for details. I am so glad he is now attending MH Midtown. My first impressions when I started exploring...administration is knowledgable and professional, the campus is very secure and there are many resources and amenities available to supplement my child's education. Staff is also great and they pay attention. I was surprised and impressed about the number of people who know my son's name, among all the students. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy. When it comes to academics, it is all about parent involvement. As many are aware, private schools have the advantage of being selective about its student population, meaning they qualify and admit a higher average, so they can teach to that level. Everything past this point, is about how much you work with your child one on one and support their learning. Believe me, any school that touts an accelerated curriculum is going to overload your kids with homework and force you, the parent to be a part time teacher during your evening family time. There's nothing wrong with that, but let's call it what it is. Don't let the idea of an advanced curriculum instill insecurities in your psyche. At Merryhill, my child has a challenging curriculum and I plan on being involved and working with him at home, but that will be my choice. I'm sure I'll be happy to take a break every now and again, when my child is overwhelmed, without any judgement. You'll be glad to have chosen Merryhill Midtown. It's a positive and challenging environment.

My son is a high school graduating senior. He is accepted by top colleges such as Harvard, Yale, Columbia, many more. He went to Merryhill School since preschool. I look back now on my son's education, I'd like to say Merryhill is a great school which provides my the best education and sets my son up for any academic challenge he faces. The teachers there would give me a hand-written note about their observations on my son. My son learnt the best presentation skill, and developed leadership from Merryhill. Many parents may overlook the importance of developing these skills in a kid's young age.I would recommend this School to anyone who would like for her kid to develop the best learning skill, and most importantly the leadership.

We have been part of the Merryhill Midtown community since our son entered Jr K, and this week he has begun 5th Grade with many of the same children he's known the entire time. There have been changes - administrators, teachers, and students have come and gone, as happens with life, but overall the school has consistently changed for the better and over time has become more communicative, open-hearted, and engaging each year. The philosophy at Merryhill Midtown is to be F.I.E.R.C.E. - Fearless, Innovative, Enthusiastic, Responsible, Compassionate, and Enlightened. They select a different theme to highlight each month and honor students from all the grade levels who embody these traits. Students are encouraged to support one another and become true friends. There is a strong emphasis on creativity and technology, as well as an emphasis on Spanish language instruction. Kids can participate in organized athletics starting in 3rd grade and compete at higher grade levels in the Parochial Athletic League. My family has helped raise money to further the athletic program through an annual golf tournament that helps fund extras like coaches' uniforms, practice space when rentals are needed, and team equipment. As an Apple Distinguished School, every child also gets an iPad at the beginning of each academic year and many lessons are done via the pad.Overall this is a relatively small school but quite mighty, with strong leadership, accreditation, very reasonable class sizes, and a good education for the money. We are happy with our son's education, his attitude towards school, his friend group and his bright future. Thank you Merryhill!

Our child has been a part of Merryhill schools for about 7 years. This is his first school year at Merryhill Midtown. He had some difficulty adjusting to the new school, new students, and new teachers/staff (which was expected). Merryhill Midtown teachers and staff have been amazing over the past year with helping him/us feel welcome and helping him adjust. Merryhill Midtown is academically challenging, and they have high expectations of their students, but they are there to support and help them. Over the past year we have seen our child thrive. He has grown academically, emotionally, and socially. Communication with teachers and staff have been great.

My son needed a new school for his 8th grade year and so many local private schools were unwelcoming and immediately disinterested in having a new student for just one year. But not Merryhill. Merryhill staff were very warm and welcoming during the application process. The school is very focused on academics which was important as we wanted our son to be more challenged. Though this did lead to an ultimate drop in his grades from public school, we know that the curriculum better prepared him for Christian Brothers where he will be attending this fall. The students were friendly; the administration and teachers were responsive when we needed help; and we felt the environment was challenging, safe, and nuturing. He also went on several amazing trips to Washington DC and Ashland Oregon. We feel fortunate to have found this school, and most importantly, our son was very happy being there.

My family and I recently scheduled a tour with Mrs. Jordan Smith. We thought it would be dull. This school tour blew my family away! Mrs. Smith took us all over the school and answered all of our questions. We were able to observe summer camp. One of the core classes is Spanish. We are excited about learning a foreign language before high school. The electives the kids can choose from is phenomenal. They offer ceramics, Robotics and many more. As a Gen X parent, Merryhill is better than what we ever had growing up. . My son is so excited to attend!
