Max's Tacos & Cheeseburgers

I love them as a sandwich joint so wanted to try them out for dinners. I really enjoyed the burger. Asked for sauce on the side and sauce came on it so BD couldn't have a bite which was fine because I didn't want to share. No chicken wings that night which was a bummer as I really wanted to try it. Pork Chile verde was tender with big chunks. BD said he wished there was more sauce or maybe more sauce taste because if It was saucier it would be sloppy. He enjoyed the chicken mole but I didn't care for it. Wished there was more toppings on the tacos? It was just meat and tortilla. They did give us sour cream and pico on the side. I want the cheese and onion and cilantro and lettuce. But all in all glad we tried it! Wait was a little long as it's made to order and maybe we had a big order before us? While dude (was it Max?) was really polite to us and chick was super helpful too, their interaction was a little weird. It almost seemed like he was a little aggressive with her. Like maybe she was moving too slow? He would tell her in this exasperated way to do something (flip the chicken, get the water et) like he had told her 20 times already but I only heard him ask her once. Then he would turn to us and be super formal. Then turn back to her and rush her to do something else. Then give us our receipt in a quiet and calm manner. So much back and forth I was cool with just waiting outside. I'd come back for the burgers. Would def come back for the sandwich.

When I moved from SoCal up here I knew the food scene wasn't as strong... that said, Max is totally rocking the taco scene with his amazing enchilada sauce dipped soft tacos...The flavors are spectacular and the portions rock... and also, Max is just an all around cool dude.If you want to get in on some amazingly badass up-and-coming food, check Max out on Thurs-Sat evenings... it's well worth it! Phenomenal tacos and just all around goodness!

So a few nights a week (I think Wednesday - Saturday?), Timmy's Sandwiches turns into Max's Tacos. I have been wanting to try them for some time now, and finally made it down last week. They have a limited menu, 3 taco choices and a burger. I opted for one of each taco - verde pork, mole chicken, and black bean potato. They are simple tacos - filling + sauce, sort of a fusion of street taco style and Americanized style. I shared the tacos with my toddler, who also loved them. I will say, they are not light diet food - these are greasy, hearty tacos. They were about $3 each and totally worth it. I'll be back!

The MOST DELICIOUS tacos in El Dorado County for sure. Max makes a variety of different tacos each week (we've had al pastor, black bean and squash, shrimp, chicken mole, potato, and a few others that I can't remember) and honestly they are all killer (even my carnivore husband likes the veggie ones!). Chicken mole is my absolute favorite, it has a super delicious flavor. These tacos are loaded with "filling" and also come with fresh salsa, sour creme, limes, etc. on the side. It's definitely a spot we will keep coming back to.

Stopped by Max's for some delicious tacos. It was busy and these tacos are really in demand. I tried the chicken mole and chile verde pork tacos. The tortillas are stacked on top of each other and grilled in enchilada sauce, they had fantastic flavor. The meat was tender and deliciously marinated. The chicken mole had a nice rich flavor. They came with a nice salsa and sour cream on the side. Dinner for two was under 15 bucks. Awesome.

This is a fantastic place to enjoy either a fantastic taco or an amazing burger. Max is a maestro of tacos and burgers. He limits the tacos to three types: chicken mole, pork or sometimes shrimp, and vegetarian. They're all scrumptious. And the burger is so good it'll kill you. He makes a great sauce for the burger, and doesn't skimp on the meat. And its a great place if your too busy to cook and want something quirks and tasty to take home, like tonight for us. Plus Max is an enthusiast for life and will talk your ear off. Highly recommended!!

Small menu (5 things) killer burger, wings, bad-ass tacos and a small counter... When you get tired of insta-famous glamour shot restaurants come where the food is just killer and everything is laid back...

My hamburger was very juicy and delicious. The tacos were very flavorful. The place is really small so it felt like we were in our friend's kitchen and we were over for dinner.

Loved the vibe! Tiny spot with a huge flavor for your palate. I totally prefer the pork verde tacos. Ordered a burger to-go for my honey & he gobbled it up! (Burrrrp!) Lol Excited to go back & try some more of the menu. I definitely recommend this spot if your up here in our hood! P.S. Max was totally inviting & kept the visit alive! My girl especially thought so!

Best tacos ever!! Max is a sweetheart and so fun to talk to while you're munching on his delicious tacos!!! We love it!!
