Pretty cool spot.Beer selection is interesting. The brewkeeps are pretty dope, friendly and welcoming. Nice esthetics, retro gaming station and chill husky :)I may return to try some of the other beers on tap, especially if I'm feeling particularly adventurous. They did have a stout that was def my speed (10%+, not syrupy and pretty flavorful). I also want to try the food (looked pretty good). Check em out if you are down that way.

I've been here a few time's now both with my book club and with friends. The new owners are very warm, friendly and passionate about the beers they produce always willing to give you more information or even a sample to help you make your best selection. It's mostly picnic table seating but do have a cozy couch corner you can snag as well. They have a couple games you can borrow which is fun. They will be hosting a monthly singles game night which I'm looking forward to checking out. The resident doggo is a beautiful husky that loves people and if you howl will join you, it's hilarious. I have tried the Marzen and the Farm House Ale and both were delicious. I'm hoping they do add ciders eventually for the gluten free and cider enthusiasts.

We're such fans of Mattie Groves! Not only is their beer great and affordable, the atmosphere is inviting and friendly! Once usuals at Big Stump, we were so bummed to learned they closed. When we heard Mattie Groves was opening, however, we couldn't be more ecstatic! We popped in twice over the past month and couldn't believe how different the place is! The owners really outdid themselves with the remodel. Talk about glow up! Not to mention they have an adorable resident pupper who hangs around! As for the beer, they definitely have a unique selection that rotates often. I'm just getting into the beer scene (late, I know!) so I'm not too familiar with their offerings. I do know that I tried a beer with elderflower?? That was great! Love this place!

Came in for Sacramento Beer Week festivities on a Thursday after work. The guy behind the bar was friendly and efficient. We started with the beer and pizza pairing and ended with some cookies. The beers were all great. Although I'm not usually one for a brown, I especially enjoyed it here. There's a small patio out front. When you come in, there's a small bar top and some long picnic benches. It's a good spot for groups. I'm sure we'll be back soon.

Mattie Groves Brewery transformed this space from the last occupants and they did a fantastic job creating a cozy and welcoming vibe!It was a chilly day when we visited but it was nice and quite warm inside, despite sitting near the door. They even have fur pelts draped on the benches, which contributes to the overall coziness. For interior seating, there are several smaller tables as well as longer banquet-style tables, which would be great for larger groups. Since they just opened recently, their beer menu was understandably smaller, but I enjoyed the pours that I had (pale ale and IPA) and they still had a fairly good variety on tap for different preferences. Right now they have full pours and half pours (16oz/12oz and 8oz/6oz depending on the ABV). Would love to see a flight option in the future - I believe they offered samples of anything you wanted, but I prefer flights/taster pours to be able to try more of the menu and at my own pace. It may also be nice to have a large beer menu board of some sort in the future, or multiple copies of the menu available/floating around to help facilitate ordering; there seemed to be a single paper menu at our visit but it had water stains and was difficult to read certain parts. Food-wise, they do not have their own kitchen but you can order food from Old Soul directly at the brewery. The owners were very friendly and knowledgeable, and their dog, who seems like the brewery mascot, was super cute as she roamed around. Dogs are definitely welcomed - there were a number of dogs inside and our friend brought his, as well. Overall, Mattie Groves is a solid new addition to Midtown and to the Sacramento beer scene! They've created a cozy and relaxed space to enjoy beer with friends and I am looking forward to trying more of their upcoming releases as they continue to grow.

This is a great little, newer microbrewery in Sacramento on the western edge of Midtown at the point where it's practically downtown. Service is excellent, the owners very friendly and enthusiastic. The place is a fairly small taproom with mostly tables with benches and a tiny bar but they have a few chairs as well. The ambience is relaxed and comfortable, especially later int he evening when it's quieter and they turn off the bright overhead lights. Beer quality based on what we had is excellent overall. The Hound of Culann Irish red ale was outstanding. 5 stars. The Little Mathie Groves porter was very good. 4 stars. The They have a food menu which is not extensive and sounds good, but we did not have any food when we were there. We'd definitely go back the next time we're in town.

I came in and it felt more as a locals brewery. I wasn't greeted, I walked straight to the line behind a couple. She did hand us a menu while the couple viewed the menu and chitchatted with the brew tender. She walked away to pour their choice. When it was my turn, she was cheery and greeted me. I ordered lady barnyard, blueberry sour. I didn't taste any fruit. It finished like a blonde. I wasn't impressed. We only stop by to kill time before meeting a friend. Oh, you get the overwhelming smell of pizza verse beer/hops. My rating is swayed based on a bathroom incident. As I walked out, a women in a wheelchair was waiting. I offered to hold the door for her and her response was "yes, I can't open it". I walked away thinking how long was she going to wait? There was no button to auto-open the door. As I was walking towards the front, a brewmaster was hosing down the floor. So that got me thinking about a walk floor. I have my docs but what about other people.
