Matcha Cafe Maiko

First time here. Didn't know this place existed until a few weeks ago. We got boba sundae and it was SO good. Boba was soft. It didn't get hardened in the ice cream. Ice cream was so creamy!!Husband got matcha latte and it was decent. The size is a bit small for the price though.

A recent review mentioned that the matcha is premade to increase efficiency but reduces the quality. I agree, especially as the drinks are priced to compete in a premium market.The maiko special also had around 40% cereal when other locations uses 20%. The issue causes the proportion of mochi and red beans to be reduced. I'm not sure if this is deliberate, but the other ingredients are more expensive, while cereal is the cheapest. In addition, no one wants to pay around $9 for a cup with mainly cereal.I highly recommend you avoid this location due to nostalgia from other locations.

Something about this location is off. Compared to their chains in the Bay Area and in SoCal, the Sacramento location does not meet the standards. They limit the seating area by putting chairs up and they minimize communication with customers by replying bluntly. Customer service is always poor when I come in. The workers do not look happy and when I asked a question about their drinks, the woman replied very nonchalantly. They did offer us a sample of a drink before purchasing which I appreciate. Our drinks came in a clear plastic cup without the logo which I was bummed about because it didn't complete the experience. The strawberry matcha latte was too sweet, not my favorite. We also tried their matcha coffee latte which was even sweeter. I noticed they premade all of their matcha latte's in 2 liter jugs and this is a smart idea for them as it's efficient, but it honestly brought the quality down in my opinion. I love other locations so I hope this location can improve in the future.

Flavors for December; calpico and yuzu calpico! Delicious!The employers were super nice and let us sample the new flavors . The calpico flavors were on point, not too sweet but very creamy!

Every drink I have had here is amazing! The matcha and hojicha are both delicious and great quality, and the matcha frappe is such an amazing treat. I'm almost glad it's far from my neighborhood so that I don't come too regularly for the frappes. For a cafe chain, the service has also been pretty friendly. Looking forward to trying more of the menu, this place is a must visit!

You can taste the high-grade matcha powder in both the soft-serve ice cream or drinks. Located in a shopping plaza with a lot of other restaurants, it can be very busy and hard to find parking depending on what time of the day you go. Also the spots can be a little tight, but at least it's all free and most are unlimited parking time. The parking spots closest to the place are 2 hours limited. This is a casual, grab and go type of place to get nice dessert. The menu is on large TV screens and then you go up to the counter to order. The customer service was great, very quick and communicative. Due to the open counter you can see your order being made and go up to grab it once it's ready. They do offer some wooden benches for seating indoors and outdoors, pretty hard as they are made out of wood and don't have back support. There is no bathroom available. For "food" they have a Boba Mochi Waffle which I ordered and is delicious, definitely recommend: a sweet, thick Belgian-like waffle topped with a sweet, lightly salty cream and the very chewy boba. The only other "food" item is their soft-sweet ice cream which I also recommend. Sometimes they rotate out a monthly flavor, but the Matcha soft serve flavor is always a perfect go-to. For drinks, this time I order a Large Matcha Cheese Foam (it's a matcha latte with Cheese Foam on top) and I add Kokuto "Black Honey Jelly." The latte itself tastes sweet and not artificial, it has that earthy taste of good, authentic matcha powder. The cheese foam does makes the latte taste creamy, but not saltier. The jelly is an interesting addition, it's not like grass jelly as it's less solid, in smaller pieces and very sweet. Overall, love this place if you're looking for sweet, good quality matcha desserts. You don't have to ask to make their lattes sweeter as it already is!

I have had this bookmarked since it opened, and influencers were posting about the gold-leaf Golden Shogun softserve. Finally came in, lured by the promise of only $4 softserve for national soft serve day 8/19/24. I got the all-matcha flavor in a waffle cone with matcha powder on top, which was legitimately hefty/heavy once handed to me, wow! Not a hollow-centered swirl if you know what I mean. The other flavors they had that day were Thai Tea, Vanilla, Hojicha. I saw one guy double-fisting with a cone in each hand, impressive sweet tooth/appetite. The housemade softserve was thick and creamy, the waffle cone crispy and very nice flavor. They also do parfaits with mixed in specialities like shiratama mochi, chestnuts, azuki beans, or matcha cream/chiffon, tea drinks, lattes, frappes and floats. I'm so glad I got to try it and yes I see what the hype is about. Located in its own separate building in a lot just one over (down Stockton Blvd) from where Serenity Desserts is.

I was craving some matcha ice cream and was looking for something closer to where I lived so that I didn't have to drive to the bay. I ended up finding this place and it truly did not disappoint! The soft serve matcha consistency was perfect and the boba was soft and chewy! There isn't a lot of room to dine inside so we took ours to go for the car ride home but definitely a delicious treat and will be back again!

My niece absolutely loves matcha so I had to take her here. Personally I'm not a big fan of matcha, however I have heard fantastic things about their soft serve and I wanted to see if it was as good as everybody said it was. I've been here a few times already mostly to get the soft serve. The few times we have tried to get the waffles. They don't have them in stock so I haven't tried them yet.As I mentioned, I'm not a huge fan of matcha so I will usually try the other flavors they have available such as black sesame, or hojicha or strawberry. I have not had anything that I didn't absolutely love. What sets this soft serve apart from others is that it is very dense and creamy. The ice cream itself has some heft to it. It's not filled with air and so you really get the full flavor.The shop is located in a very crowded strip mall. It gets very busy and hectic, especially during the weekend. I like to go during the weekdays because I don't like dealing with the traffic on the weekends.

We tried this shop in Valley Fair and SF Japantown. We love matcha, so we came here to try their matcha float and soft-serve ice cream. Both weren't bad, but the ice cream was quite firm. I wish I could adjust the ice level for the matcha float; it had too much ice. This plaza has plenty of parking. It close by many other restaurants.
