The rice balls are sooooo good!!! We found this place on a whim and sure are glad we did. We got a variety of food off their menu. I appreciated that the menu included gluten free options. My husband enjoyed everything he ordered. So did I. I have never been a fan of matcha... but I would def come back here for the sesame rice balls and might even try their matcha

I was very excited because there were a lot of positive reviews for this place but I was greatly underwhelmed by the food. I came by at about 2:30pm on a Thursday and they had most of their entrees out of stock so I couldn't try the beef guydon bowl. I ordered the unagi roll and the spam masubi. Only the eel roll was made to order, but it wasn't too impressive. The rice tastes and feels too sticky. The spam masubi is pre made and he grabbed it from the warmer so the rice feels and tastes a bit crunchy from being dried out. Also a lot of rice for the spam ratio. Could've put a bit less rice for the masubi. Inside is very small and cute. Aesthetic vibes. Overall not impressed.

tl;dr: cozy, simple, easy.Spam Misubi: $8.50 might be a tad steep for Misubi but this was pretty great. If you're on the fence of what to order, its a good idea to share this with someone as the two pieces are fairly decent sized. The spam was cooked well and while I don't remember seeing it on the menu, there was an egg on both pieces, which, was cooked perfectly.Chicken Katsu: The Katsu was a straightforward, run of the mill, katsu sandwich. The bread was fluffy and the chicken was cooked well but it feels like something is missing, a touch of heat or a touch of acid would have been nice. Experience: I walked by this place quite a bit while they were getting setup and I missed them several times during the soft opening. My friend and I finally caught them open a couple of weeks ago around 12:30 PM on a Thursday, there was one person waiting on food and one person ordering when we walked in. We ordered two Chicken Katsu Sandos and one Spam Misubi (which is 2 pieces). The wait for food was surprisingly long, about 25 minutes, which is honestly TOO long for what we ordered. There are only 2 seats inside and no seating outside, so, we were amongst several other people loitering on the sidewalk, kind of just existing. When our order was ready, the owner did apologize for the wait, saying they were a tad behind with online orders. The owner was very friendly, the menu is simple, and there's a good selection of grab & go items along with a small assortment of imported drinks. There's a nice, unplugged, espresso machine sitting on the counter that's going to be used for coffee in the hopefully near future. I asked the owner what the wait was for said espresso machine and she said the city has not yet approved their permit for the added 240v power. I think with some more fine tuning, this place will put out some amazing product. I can't wait to go back.

Super cute hidden gem in Midtown. Perfect for a quick meet up or grab and go if you're in the area. I ordered the matcha with salted cream option. The matcha was very earthy and delicious, however I was a disappointed with my drink because the cream, which was an extra $1, was not salty. It was very watered down. Otherwise, the service was great. Right now, it is a soft opening, so there's more room to improve. They only have one table with 2 chairs, so not a great place to sit down. However, there is a park across the street you can go to if you want a place to sit down and enjoy your treats.

I was in midtown early in the morning and had a few hours to kill. I looked up restaurants nearby and this place came up. Walking in it's a bit small with only one table and two chairs for seating. The guy working behind the counter told me they have only been open for a few months now and they are partners with the dumpling restaurant next door. They have a good selection to pick from their menu and it looks like they have a rotating menu. The place picked up a bit after I walked in and a few people were waiting with only one guy working the front & kitchen he quickly got all the orders out. I decided to get the Chicken Katsu Sando. I wasn't the best chicken katsu sando but it did the job. I am looking forward to coming back and trying more items on their menu once a few kinks get fixed. I enjoyed the overall setup and ambiance of this place. I felt like I was in some type of hideaway.

This place is amazing! I love how it's pet friendly. They have dog treats by the register and welcome dogs of any and all sizes. The guy there is soo cool and friendly and made my visit there so much better than expected. I think my husband spent like 30 minutes there eating and talking and sipping on some soon to be released drinks. He said they will added more drinks to their menu and that includes coffee. I cannot wait to come back!!

Pretty new hole in the wall spot serving up traditional, authentic Japanese dishes. Located on 28th and P street in midtown Sacramento. This place is maybe 1000 square feet altogether but that's what makes it cool. The family working here put service and quality of food before flashy and bright decor, and also before an expensive menu. The prices here are moderate compared to other similar places in the area. I tried the chicken katsu sandwich and brought it home to share with my girlfriend. We both enjoyed the crispy chicken. The soft bread make each bite feel light. The sauce on the sandwich is delicious. Loved the fresh ingredients like lettuce, tomato and onion. I would definitely order this again. I can't wait to go back and try their gyoza and spam masabi. The young lady working the counter took my order and then got to making it herself. She packaged it up and charged me with a big smile, it felt good supporting a new startup. In the competitive market of restaurants I hope this family owned place thrives. It's a really nice addition to the midtown area.

Cute logo = I go. :pVerrrrry soft opening, so much that the shopkeeper had to leave the place unattended (no other worker here) to prepare my chicken katsu sando "next door" (I assume at Hidden Dumpling House lol). One potential customer came into the shop and left after I informed him that the shopkeeper had been gone for a while. Eventually I got my sando (shopkeeper told me upon me ordering it that it would take 15 min to prepare but it ended up being more like 25). For reference I was here at 10 am on a weekday.Worth the wait? I dunno..... Sandwich bread needs to be changed because the sauces in the sandwich were soaking well into it. Had one bite with a thick raw onion slice. Crispy chicken crust but the meat was on the dry side.I also had a matcha with cream. Menu really should specify that the cream is *salted* because I wouldn't have added the cream (not a fan of salted cream). The matcha taste itself was nicely earthy though.Primarily a grab-and-go spot as there is only one small dining table in the shop. Finding general street parking wasn't too difficult at the time and there are a couple of 15 min street parking spots right out front.

Unassuming neighborhood storefront that is small but inviting and friendly. There's one little table inside (that can seat 2) and a drinks case that features Japanese style beverages and sparkling water. The menu is simple but hearty and features fan favorites like spam & fried egg musubis, spicy tuna musubis, chicken Katsu sammie, and more! Also...gotta grab that dry fruit tea...soooooo amazing and has hibiscus, too. I bought two! The potstickers ate crispy outside and generously filled...delicious! Katsu chicken sammie is a great sammie with a miso dressing. The egg sammie is a perfect light and fluffy sammie (perfect with my morning coffee). The spicy tuna musubis is made with cooked tuna (not raw sushi style) and it has slightly sweet and spicy fillling which goes well with the slightly vinegary sushi rice. Wish these guys were in my neighborhood! I'd grab a snack there all the time...plus grab that fruit tea!! Or grab 2 - like I did!!

What a cute little spot! I grabbed the egg sando (which was made to order) and grabbed some onigiri for the road. This spot is bright and airy, nice and clean with beautifully prepared food. The person working the counter was very friendly and worked quickly.Everything tastes so fresh, I will definitely be back.
