These people are rude to the homeless people here and to outsiders what is this place even for? Rude staff seems very unprofessional.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE BEING ABLE TO SERVE OTHERS!Being able to serve the families that come here is a real blessing. Don't get me wrong... I enjoy receiving things, but giving is way more rewarding in my opinion. The kids that smile and say thank you, the warmth and the love... it's a WHOLE VIBE! If you've never had the chance to do this before, I would HIGHLY encourage you to come out and do it!The families get to eat for free (you can't beat that), and they give enough food for everyone to get their fill. All of the employees and volunteers work very hard so that the people who show up know they are appreciated no matter where they are in life.Gotta sign up well in advance if you want to serve!Anyways... I love it and will be back once again next year!

We have taken donations here over the years. Our lifestyle has changed, i.e. getting older, and we longer use our camping equipment. Donated 2 tents and 4 sleeping bags - among other things. All gently used and clean. I was directed right away where to drop off. The staff was friendly and helpful. The area was clean. Check out their website to see the plethora of services they offer. Such needed service from showers, pet assistance and counseling.

I absolutely love this place. They offer such great services to the homeless & those in need. They offer breakfast on the morning & a delicious well balanced lunch in the afternoon. They offer hot shower & supply you with all the necessities!.There is a church, fire dept, medical center, library, Mustard Seed School ect.. Along with many other resources. They have "Friendship Park" which allows a place to relax & communicate with others. I can go on & on & on. But in retrospect...THIS IS A PLACE THAT REALLY CARES!!

Grown from serving lunch off the Delaney's porch back in the 80's, Loaves & Fishes continues their flagship program of preparing and serving a midday meal serving 600-800 hungry and homeless men, women and children every day - to offering more than a dozen services and programs for homeless survival with food, health, education and housing to those men, women and families whom are most in need. If you are looking for an organization to help support, this is a great one. Loaves and Fishes is supported by the community in donation sand over 1000 volunteers each month support the staff efforts in successfully providing grassroots survival homeless services to provide a pathway home for many of Sacramento's previously homeless. They receive no government funds and rely on individuals and organizations for monetary support. A fiscally sound organization that keeps overhead under 10%. This means 90 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to services. Please note my compassionate bias for Loaves & Fishes. I fortunately have had the opportunity to participate (in a small way) and observe the day to day services at Loaves and Fishes, as a volunteer and outreach advocate, and recently wrote my thesis on this and similar organizations for my masters of public health from Drexel University, Sacramento. "Miracles happen every day" through dedicated staff leaders and volunteers with support from the community and many faith based organizations in the area.If you or your organization can support Loaves & Fishes please do so. They have great materials online and you can even set up your own fundraising campaign (all tax deductible).Set up a virtual food drive: https://sacloaves.org/pfp/goal-vfd.phpOrganize your office giving campaign: https://sacloaves.org/pfp/goal-vfd.phpNeeds list: http://www.sacloaves.org/needs-listThank you for your consideration to donate, as our "the Sacramento community", support of Loaves & Fishes is needed year round as they provide a pathway home in opportunities to Sacramento homeless men, women and children. http://www.sacloaves.org/

I just love this dump. They don't mind if you're old and stinky like me because everyone there is.

It's hard to imagine how much worse the hunger and homelessness problem could be in Sacramento without Loaves and Fishes. For decades, these tireless volunteers have been providing what they accurately refer to as "survival services" to those fringes of our society affected by mental illness, the economy or just plain misfortune. I've toured the facility and am always impressed by the smoothness of their operation. They have an easy place to drop off donations, a nice big warehouse (although they are ALWAYS in need of food, clothing and cash donations) and new offices. They even have a neighboring "friendship park" for persons in need to hangout, relax and relate. Other services include a daily lunch time meal, breakfast for women and children, day shelter, school for homeless children, mental health counseling and jail visitation. For all these reasons we were proud to donate over $700 to their cause through the Yelp Shops Local giving pledge! I hope to do it again next year!
