La Terraza Mexican Restaurant

My mom took me out for a belated birthday lunch. She enjoys Mexican/Mexican-American food, and we were in old Sacramento, so this place seemed like a decent lunch.I see on average this place rates a 2. While this place wasn't anything special, I think a 2 average is somewhat harsh. I ordered the beef quesadilla lunch special, which was a decent amount of food for $13.99. The quesadilla had good flavor.....a little dry, but good flavor. The refried beans and rice were fairly standard. Good for what it is, but you'll get this at any Mexican restaurant. My mom and sister enjoyed their meals, too.Our server was very polite and attentive, and drinks were always refilled. There is Mexican music playing, and a window seat from the second floor gives a nice view of the foot traffic. Again, nothing sensational, but for a good, honest Mexican/Mexican-American lunch in between old Sacramento fun, this is a good spot

The food was quite good. Three of us had enchilada plates and pretty much cleaned our plates. My husband ordered the Fajitas and he didn't care for them. They didn't come out on a sizzling cast iron but he tried them anyway and was disappointed. That said, Diego, our server, gets 5 starts! He was very attentive and very nice yet professional--always had a smile on his face. Ambience was very nice. It wasn't real busy the day we went so it was nice to be able to hear our groups' conversations. I'm only giving them 4 stars because Fajitas should come out sizzling:). But what the rest of us had deserves 5 stars.

Walked in around 5pm, place itself was empty so I'm assuming we got there right before the dinner rush, there were two servers on the floor who were pretty helpful in explaining the menu. We sat down out on the patio and ordered drinks and food on the spot, I ordered a mango margarita with a grilled chicken quesadilla. One thing about me, unless the business has raving reviews about their food, I'll play it safe rather then pay the consequences later on in the restroom. My quesadilla wasn't too bad, and the margarita was pretty good. I always forget that most Mexican restaurants cater to a more Caucasian audience rather than a Hispanic audience so the ingredients themselves weren't anything to rave about. I would say this place is great for large groups or families wanting to get ANY food in their system, and those who don't mind any loud noise from the streets below. Drinks are needed to enjoy the food though. Unless you enjoy white-washed Mexican food.

The food was good. Not anything to write home about but good. The ambiance is GREAT!! Second story views are excellent. Service is okay.

First time being here and it was a super cute spot... I liked the roses in the front walkway hanging from the ceiling. I had the shrimp stuffed chili rellano, which I really enjoyed.... There was so much I took some home... my friend had the fajitas and said they were tasty and the plate was cleaned. Another friend had the shrimp tacos and she liked them. There was a lil bit that was selling chocolate bars for a football fundraiser. Not sure if this is a normal thing but this has been the second time while eating in old Sac where kids come up to you while dining to ask if you want to support them. This kid was nice and told us about what position he played.

Stopped in for a late afternoon nosh. Sat on patio overlooking the main Old Town drag. Carne Asada Nachos and an icy cold Michilada with Pacifico . Spicy goodness . Served was pleasant and attentive.

We always wanted to try this place and did not want to let the reviews let us down. We went in with an open mind, very excited, it was not busy at all!! We had patio seating! So cute and it was a nice day, very excited and ordered Carnitas plate and Carne Asada plate. Boy, it was a letdown. I give the place 2 stars for the taste. Food looks great to take photos but taste was bland. Had to ask for box and I the bill twice and it was not busy at all. Yes.Womp womp. My date, 10 stars,Would go out with her again.

The food was good, the drinks were horrible. I had a Michelada that had almost no beer in it and tasted HORRIBLE. They serve the margaritas in 6oz cups which was so disappointing and tasted more like juice if anything. The place was empty and the server was nice. Had to pay for chips and salsa.

Unimpressed from the very beginning. Had to ask to be seated. They were out of the beer I wanted- Dos Equis amber. Modelo was cold. Other half wanted iced tea, which they were out of. Mind you, this was at two in the afternoon. Ordered food and that wasn't good. I got the carne asada, ordered it medium rare, and was overcooked. Their reasoning: "the steak is thin and not easy to cook to order". Other half got carne asada tacos, might as well have been shoe leather. Sister in law ordered two cheese burritos and got one with cheese and one with chicken. They only had two types of beans, refried and black. And what Mexican restaurant charges extra for chips and salsa??? Apparently this one does. The saving grace was that the refills of chips and salsa were free. We tried not to be biased on the overall yelp review, but this one was warranted. Save your money and time and find a different Mexican restaurant. We will not be coming back here.

The food here was ok. The service was not so good. They forgot a few items I had ordered. The restaurant was clean and the drinks were good
