La Porta is my new fav spot to dine in Sacramento, ever since my first time here for dinner, when I enjoyed the best beets and burrata salad I have EVER tasted, and one of the best creamy penne Alfredo with chicken my taste buds have enjoyed. This 2nd time around, I aimed to try their Detroit pizzas, so I ordered the Belluno. The portion is so huge that I enjoyed it for three more meals at home!!! The pesto, HUGE roasted garlic, and all of the toppings (except the Calabrian chilis I needed to remove for dietary restriction reason), plus the delicious, crispy, cheesy crust edge, make the most perfect flavor combo, so much that I now consider this pizza one for the books for this foodie! In addition, their house salad is extremely delicious with their balsamic vinaigrette that I especially enjoyed because it was not overpowering with being sour like I have often experienced in other restaurants. Service is excellent and their booths are very comfortable. I can't wait to go back and try another item on their menu!

Was expecting a more homey-style traditional Italian restaurant vibe but instead was met with an art deco modern feel. The restaurant is in the same building as the Mercedes-Benz dealership so took a couple of trips around the block to spot it. Once inside we opted for a booth... which was very uncomfortable! I hate to say it but it just felt really cramped. However, after moving to a table, our tushies were treated to some very plush, comfy chairs. Service was decent. Our waitress was friendly and answered all of our questions and chatted a bit. It was towards the end of the night so after we got our food she kinda ghosted us to most likely work on closing duties (I'm just making that assumption as it was pretty quiet inside). That was ok but the pizza was pretty salty and I could have really used some more water! Which brings me to the final point, the food. I had never tried Detroit style pizza before so was super eager to try it out. In my mind it was going to be like more of a deep dish affair and when we asked about how long to take before it would arrive the answer supported this. However the food arrived pretty quickly. Our salad was really good, very flavorful dressing. But the pizza... just didn't do it for me. I didn't get much flavor and found it dry and super doughy. I don't want to assume but give the length of time to prepare it I suspect the crust/dough was pre cooked then heated up with toppings and cheese added after (again, this is my assumption). It came across as a fancy French Bread with some pizza toppings on it. The Parmesan crust was super salty and just overall it just didn't meet my expectations. I am definitely a "pizza ho", but I had a hard time getting through this meal. They had other pizza and crust options so maybe Detroit style just wasn't "the one" for me, but I think I would just rather go with a more tried and true option in the future.

First time here- I understand it was Valentine's Day and I overheard the restaurant has been open for only 10 months.Regardless, please improve on your time management skills when serving customers. We ordered the 5 course meal, reservation at 730, received food around 845, finished food in about 20 minutes. Waiter came and asked if we ordered dessert, we declined. Pizza first, then salad, then crostini, then baked ziti and then dessert. Pizza salad and crostini all came out within in 2 minutes of each other. Overall best part was the Torino pizza. However, this appeared to be happening at all the other tables around us and the waitstaff were continuously apologizing for the order that the food arrived. Overhead lights were super bright, staff were overcompensating for delivery of food. Probably will back to try once more.

Came here for lunch. It was delicious lunch. La Porta was introduced to me through a Yelp event and I've been dreaming about the tiramisu from the event. So I came back~For drink I got the aperol spritz. This is my first Aperol spritz and I really like it. It's refreshing, not too sweet. For food I got:Beef lasagna: it came fresh, hot from the oven and I was told to not touch it immediately. After it cooled down a little I took my first bite. It's neatly layered. And perfectly cheese and meaty.Napoli pizza: love love the thin crust and it holds its shape super well. So good! Tiramisu: been dreaming about it and finally had it. Sole crumbles are added on top to add texture and made it fun!Cheesecake: it's so smooth and decadent but not super heavy. It tastes comforting and homy like sneaking into grandma's kitchen. Love this equally to the tiramisu.Everything was very tasty. And service is friendly, fast and above and beyond. The place has tall ceilings and I really like the open space. They also have a tv at the bar so if you fancy a drink and snack while watching the game, it could happen here~

Food: 4.5 MicsService: 5 MicsAmbiance: 4 MicsFood: I really enjoyed the food here. I would like to come back and indulge in some more of the pizzas. We started with the Caesar Salad. It was a Caesar salad. Nothing to rave about and nothing to complain about. The Rose Pinwheels were chewy, salty and gooey with cheese. There were surprise artichokes in the pinwheel. The mixture of the red and white sauce made for a flavorful appetizer. The Pesto Chicken pizza was not thrilling. This pizza was okay but personally disappointed. Now, the pizza dough was good and the cheese was perfect chewy. I would like to come back and definitely try a red sauce pizza. Again, there's pesto was not OUR preference but you may like it. Service: Hands down-five mic service! The server was friendly, smiling all the time and checked on us. Customer service award for phenomenal customer service. Ambiance: This place has an office modern restaurant vibe with fully stocked bar Centerpiece with TV's. The restaurant was a little chilly but we managed.Stop in the drinks may be good. I do t drink but some of the drinks looked pretty tasty and original. The food was worth me coming back soon. Come thru and tell me what you think.

We stopped in for a beer, hoping to find a new happy hour spot, but they do not have a happy hour. We decided to stay for a drink and it tuned into dinner. Our bartender was very friendly and attentive, and was helpful when deciding on pizzas. We ordered the bruxelles to start. They were very tasty, but I needed a sprinkle of salt. I didn't see a salt shaker nearby and I didn't ask for one, but that didn't stop me from devouring our starter. Our pizzas came and we dug in. The Mont Blanc was yummy, but I was again wishing I had a sprinkle of salt. The Cassano was perfect, so flavorful, and the crust was amazing. We'll be back to try more pizza and maybe they'll have a happy hour next time.

The ziti and spaghetti bolognese were fantastic! The bolognese sauce was good enough to drink! The service started off a bit shaky but ended up excellent and even offered a free dessert! They are know for pizzas but their pasta dishes and Brussels sprouts are delicious! A very cute and quaint place with great decor!

Their espresso martinis are to die for! The small pizzas are definitely big enough to share with 2 and the salads are HUGE! It's a really cute space for lunch with the girls or a date night. I

My wife and I visited La Porta last week for a late lunch date. Here's how it went:What We Ate:A29 Palermo (Small, $35)We ordered this without prosciutto since we're vegetarians. Without the prosciutto, we'd rate it 3/5--it was okay but it was far too pricey for what we got. We're pretty sure it would've been much better with the meat, so we're giving it a generous 4/5. The small size was more than enough for the two of us to share, and we even had leftovers to take home. On a positive note, the staff mentioned they have vegan sausage available as a topping, which is a great option for plant-based diners!Insalata Autumna ($16)Mixed greens with gorgonzola, candied walnuts, dried cranberries, and sherry vinaigrette. This was delicious--perfectly balanced flavors and fresh ingredients. Definitely a 5/5!Location:This was the most frustrating part of our visit. Maps took us down a confusing side street, so we had trouble finding it. Do yourself a favor and map to the Mercedes dealership instead--the restaurant is located inside the dealership building. Unfortunately, the poor location earns it a 1/5.Parking:Once we finally figured out where the front door was, parking was a breeze. No complaints here--5/5.Ambiance:The interior is cute and modern, with a clean, trendy aesthetic. Perfect for a casual yet nice lunch or dinner.Service:The staff was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and helpful. 5/5 for service!Overall:While we probably won't return due to the confusing location and the fact that the pizza didn't fully meet our expectations without the prosciutto, it was still worth trying. The salad and service were excellent, and the ambiance made for a pleasant experience.

Since I had already known about "La Porta Restaurant & Bar" from a Yelp event that I attended on 12/14/2024, I figure why not check this place out on my own time. Since this new, upscale pizzeria restaurant officially opened its doors back in February 2024, I had seen it every time I drove by in this area. Located directly on busy Howe Ave and tucked in between Alta Arden Expressway and Wyda Way, the building itself is actually connected to the Mercedes-Benz of Sacramento dealership. I came here with my lady during the evening of Saturday 12/21/2024 at around 5:30pm. I made the reservations through the Yelp app as this process was a breeze. As for the parking, it can fill up during dinnertime but there are signs that are dedicated for La Porta customers only. Once proceeding inside, I noticed it wasn't too busy and a reservation wasn't necessarily needed. The layout of this place was very spacious as the very front of the building had modern lounge chairs and sofas while the bar area was displayed perfectly. There were also lots of windows that graced throughout the building with a very generous seating area. Once seated, we were given food/drink menus and iced waters. Our hostess was very attentive and gracious as we browsed through the selections of appetizers, salads, pastas, and very generous pizza selections. Since we both wanted to go the non-alcoholic route, we both ordered the "Mocktails". I went with the mint flavored (much like a virgin mojito) while she went with their blackberry/pomegranate one. We decided on the "Patate" which is their twist on French fries. And for our main entree, we decided on splitting the "A4 Torino" (in a 12" size) pizza. This consisted of homemade tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese. pepperoni, mushrooms, pepperoncinis, and Italian sausage. Our drinks arrived in less than 5 minutes followed by the fries just a couple minutes later. And since their pizzas are cooked in a hot wood-fired oven, that arrived just a few minutes later. As for the overall taste & flavor, I was absolutely sold on every level. The crust had the perfect rise to it as it had the right crunch factor to it. The cheese and tomato sauce balanced perfectly while they did not skimp on the pepperoni. Even the sausage had a great smoked taste to it as this was the perfect amount of toppings with each and every bite. We even enjoyed their fries as these too were crispy and perfect when dipped in either the ketchup or ranch dressing.Since I work behind the scenes in the health & human services sector, I had the opportunity to meet the owner, Aaron Parker around the time this place got its permits approved. Since then, him and his wife Zhenya have been a driving force in really putting this place on the map. In addition to their pizzas, they also offer a huge wine and cocktail menu as well as hosting trivia nights every Thursday. Finally, they are open for business 7 days a week; Sunday-Thursday from 11am-9pm and Friday-Saturday from 11am-10pm. With excellent service, a trendy & upscale vibe, amazing food & drinks, and decent prices, I am giving "La Porta Restaurant & Bar" a perfect five-star rating.
