Food is very authentic, caution HOT PLATE. Your food stays very hot because of the hot plate. Huge portions, very yummy, excellent service. Your glass never gets empty. They have lots of staff that get the food out to you quickly. All of their food is excellent.

The good: service excellent, the amount of food more than adequate The bad: ordered taco, ground beef enchilada,Chile relleno and rice and beans. My enchilada came as a cheese enchilada it was so much food that had it boxed up and took it home. Now let me say, I've been eating at this restaurant for probably 20 years and my Sister even longer, it used to be fabulous! This meal should have been just as fabulous heated up next day, it always had in the past.I order ground beef taco and enchilada the Chile relleno and rice and beans, but they delivered me a cheese enchilada,by the time it the replacement came I just boxed up all of my meal to take home. The substituted ground beef enchilada was so bad.....after 2 bites I tossed the whole thing it was disgusting!!!! I could have just thrown $30.00 out the window of the car. I won't be going back for a very long time! I

I think they may need a bigger place! It was pretty busy for a Monday around lunch time. I heard this restaurant had authentic Mexican food so I had to try it. I think others have heard the news too. It did not disappoint! I ordered the chimichanga and it was fried to perfection. The chicken was moist and bursting with flavor. My friend ordered their carnitas plate and it came with rice, beans, tortillas, pico de gallo, and guacamole. The plates come out sizzling hot. I noticed they serve breakfast all day so that's a bonus. As I mentioned earlier, it's a busy place so I wish the service was a little bit better. They forgot to bring us our menus. However, all was forgiven when the food arrived at our table.

Husband and I tried this place for the first time last night and it was amazing! We have been looking for a good Mexican place. The service was outstanding. Our drinks and chips and salsa were never empty! I couldn't tell you who our server was because everyone pitched in from taking drink and food orders, refills, bringing food and the check. They have an amazing team! The food was great and came out quickly (plates are hot!). Everything had great flavor. Even my husband said his cheese enchiladas were very flavorful, He finished his whole plate! Usually he won't eat much of the rice and beans at other places as he says they usually lack flavor. Everything was amazing and we definitely be back! We have already recommended this place to some of our friends!

This used to be our go to when we lived in this side of town. We were in the neighborhood so we stopped in for lunch. The service was pleasant and fast. Our food came out hot and ready to be devoured. It's clean and very well maintained.

Great food, beans and rice are my son's favorite. The salsa is like eating fire, but tastes really good, so you have to take the pain with the pleasure. I love that they put onions in the cheese enchiladas (they ask if you want them, in case that's not your thing). And the chicken taco is wonderful.

Greatest service you will ever receive, no joke. From the moment we walked in, the hostess was very welcoming and sweet. Entire staff is pleasant, efficient, fast, and consistently on top of your needs. They're quick to refill your endless chips and salsa, drinks, and bus your table. Best Mexican food in this area. Enjoyed the Chile Verde and Chile Colorado burritos. Tender, flavorful meat swimming in their delectable sauces. La Placita is a family-owned, local gem for decades.

La Placita is long standing neighborhood restaurant in Orangevale. For the past 34 years, they have been serving up basic, simple, delicious Mexican food. The kind that was popularized in the States in the 1970s. The food and the place is not trendy nor fru fru fancy. The dishes are old school, comfort at prices at reasonable prices. The customer service is phenomenal.Every time I dine here, which is not that frequent , I am welcomed like a long lost friend. I feel very at ease and welcomed here. The clientele is diverse. This place has an easy going family friendly local neighborhood vibe. Again this place is not much to look at from the outside nor the inside. The shopping strip looks sketch but I have had no issues. The inside is basic old school table and booths. Dining room is one big open room with tables set close to each other. Not really conducive for privacy. The noise level can get loud once it gets filled which is all the time during peak dining time. The food... well I noticed folks either like it or don't. Hubs grew up with this type of food from his childhood. He luvs the food here, at La Placita, ... tacos, enchiladas, tamales, chile rellenos... all of it including the beans, rice, and salsa roja. The food and flavors are reminiscent to that generation of cuisine. I on the other hand am one of the folks that find the food filling, simple, and comforting. Not so much a gastronomical delight. My favorite item is the ground beef enchilada. Yummy ground beef, with chopped onions, baked in a corn tortilla in red sauce. Also being lactose intolerant, I have to remember to ask for no shredded cheese on top of the refried beans and entrees because they are generous with the cheese. The complimentary chips are served with a mild and a spicy hot version of salsa roja. I like the mild version. The spicy one is too woohoo spicy for me. The staff makes sure the chips, salsa, and drinks were filled. I rarely saw the bottom of the chip basket, salsa bowls, and my water glass.
