I have followed La Fornaretta on IG for a while, lured in by photos of tasty pizza. Finally I got off my you-know-what and ventured in (really it's more that I have to abandon my love of Mexican food and margaritas), and I am so glad that I did. The location is charming and easy off the 80, the staff attentive and friendly, and the pizza is as good as it looks. A+! The only downside was that my friend already knew about it and so I didn't have the bragging rights of showing her a new place - but she loves it too! So there you go! Give it a try!

Best date night spot in town! Food is just perfection! We've been several times but last night we ordered the crab cakes, pesto tortellini and the Chilean sea bass. All three dishes were incredible! Dessert was cannoli and gelato. I'm not a huge cannoli fan in general (reminds me of a fortune cookie with cream cheese inside) so I wasn't super into that but my husband liked it! The outdoor patio has fantastic ambiance but the inside is pretty crowded and loud. Worth it for the food but if I had my choice, it would be always outside!

This is a place with history. 40 years in business. It is first come first serve, first serve. A little tricky to find in the dark.My wife had spaghetti and meatballs. She very much enjoyed it. Meatballs were enormous. The sauce was very good. We ate in the second dining room. People were boisterous. It was very loud. Some like that. Our waitress was polite. I had the seafood tutto mare. Saffron sauce. The prawns and halibut were overcooked. The clams and mussels were ok. The sauce was just not what I hoped for. Our waitress was probably used to a slower paced meal. Took 10 minutes from when she dropped off the check until she came back to pick it up even though my wife was already boxed and ready to go. Not her fault but our twosome was the afterthought table that she just couldn't get to.We might return eventually. I would try the pizza as the pasta just wasn't doing it for me. Interesting trip.

We had been wanting to try this place for months and finally aligned schedules to get here right at opening. There was a mad rush at the door but we were promptly seated on the patio with our chihuahua. Dogs are allowed on the patio. There is also no time limit on the patio, whereas indoors there is a 90 minute limit. Because it's so busy, it just takes longer for food to come out so I think it might be hard to wrap it up in 90 minutes on a Saturday night. The food was delicious, just as expected from prior reviews. They make their pasta by hand and it is very tasty. Tonight I tried the scallop appetizer with a kumquat reduction sauce. The scallops were cooked to perfection with a nice sear and topped with a tangy sauce. Very good. I had the Linguini Tutto Mare or seafood linguine special. Light tomato and garlic based sauce with fresh seafood over linguini. Both were amazing.

I've been to this restaurant several times and keep coming back only because the people I love love it. Unfortunately I do not. The seating is uncomfortable. The food always has the wrong proportions (my salad was pretty much just lettuce; my manicotti was pretty much just cheese). Other people seem to like it though so maybe I'm just missing a chromosome and I can't appreciate it for what it is.

I had the pleasure of being invited to a small gathering at this restaurant. Is definitely a hidden gem which are my favorite. The outside will fool you, it has this cabin aesthetic look. However, the food is quite phenomenal extremely authentic Italian dishes. Everything on their menu tasted delicious along with their selection of Wine. Service was equally as enjoyable since they are so accommodating. We were a party of six and no reservations, and were seated without any wait time. If you ever find yourself in Placer County stop by this amazing restaurant, the drive can be tricky but it is worth it.

The food, service and ambiance was just right. We drove 33 minutes to try something new in an adorable small town and it was well worth the drive. We definitely will return to try other selections on the menu next time. We love that there was a wine bar next door to make the wait for our table not feel like we were waiting as long. Everyone was very kind and our friend lost his phone, but someone returned and we are so thankful.
