Hidden Gem Alert! This place is the absolute bomb - a true hidden gem! I tried both the lengua burrito and the carne asada burrito (not on the same day), and both were outstanding.Lengua BurritoThe first thing that stood out? The size--this thing was massive, in the best way possible. The lengua was tender, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavor. The burrito had rice, beans, sour cream, cilantro, and onions, all coming together for a well-balanced bite. Unlike many spots in Sacramento that tend to be too salty, this one nailed the seasoning.Carne Asada BurritoEverything great about the lengua burrito applied here, too--except, of course, for the meat. The carne asada was outstanding--seasoned to perfection with depth of flavor and, again, not overly salty. This one also had rice, beans, sour cream, cilantro, and onions, plus I added avocado. Honestly, I wish I hadn't--it distracted from the other amazing flavors (totally my fault, though). Even so, this burrito was still phenomenal.AmbianceThis spot is a carnicería, giving it the vibe of a small neighborhood grocery store. The ladies at the counter don't speak English, but since I ordered online via Uber Eats, it wasn't an issue. If I had ordered in person, communication might have been tricky since I don't speak Spanish. That said, the staff was incredibly kind and humble, making the experience even better.Final ThoughtsI'll be coming back again and again as long as this place exists. I'm honestly shocked people aren't lining up at the door. If you're looking for a top-tier burrito, this is the spot! Oh and decent prices too!

They had a 5 taco deal that I had to try! I enjoyed the asada taco so much from this place that I will definitely be coming back! This family owned business has a full kitchen inside and makes great authentic dishes with great portions of meat for the price. You cannot go wrong with this place for to go order. There is no indoor seating so you might want to enjoy these delicious tacos in your car.

OMG! What was formerly La Rosa is back!! It was closed for years when a truck ran into and caught the building on fire in 2021. I had seen the building open for business but since the name was changed, thought it was different owners but a co-worker recently told me it was the same owners with the same menu. Apparently they have been open for several months. Had to try it today. We walk in and it has been remodeled with some changes. They now have an ice cream freezer up front where they make homemade fruit bars but also have scoop ice cream. They cut down the aisles for the market section that carries a very limited selection of goods and of course the meat counter that includes seafood. The right back corner is the same kitchen are but its more open to where you can see it all. There is only one table for two that is probably reserved for the owners so generally you need to take your food to-go. All other tables and chairs were removed. You order at the food counter and they give you a ticket to take to the front cashier to pay. Prices are super reasonable. They have the BEST street tacos around. Very flavorful and so full of meat that I usually take that second shell and make another taco out of it. I also ordered a pork tamale today and it was MUCH better than they were before. It was moist. My friend ordered her favorite Chicken Quesadilla and she agreed that it was as good as before. I am SO freaking happy that they are back, not just for me but for them. Usually when family businesses close, it is rare that they ever come back. They are really nice folks. Go support the small business!Thank you for bringing a tear to this old gal. This was one of my MOST favorite places to eat that I used to visit quite often. I will be BACK!!

I have been craving tamales (I grew up with my mama making the BEST tamales, but she sadly is no longer with us), so I ordered a couple dozen pork tamales from La Estrellita. These were made fresh and steamed today, and OMG they are incredible! The masa is perfect (not too dry or crumbly) and the pork with red salsa combo inside is amazing, cooked to perfection. These are the closest tamales to mama's that I've had in the Sacramento area. La Estrellita also has some delicious house-made ice cream bars and chocolate covered bananas if you're in need of a sweet treat. Highly recommend!

La Estrellita Meat market is one of the most authentic places to grab Mexican food and meats in the area. This place recently reopened after a long renovation. The building was struck by a vehicle and it kept them closed for nearly 2 full years. During that time the family here would do a pop up taco stand and sell during the weekends. Usually around 5pm to 10pm or sellout. Their storefront is back open and thankfully they're still selling those same bomb tacos on weekend nights! When ordering tacos I usually get the more exotic meats like lengua or cabeza along with the campechano, which is a mix of asada, chorizo, and pastor. The campechano is a favorite of mine here and they do it well as it is one of the more popular tacos choices here. My 5 stars is for the great tacos they serve on the weekends. I can pull up, get some great food and be back home eating within 20 minutes.I'll be returning to try some of their pre marinated carne's to grill at home soon as well.

you can't miss the baby blue building on sacramento ave!roomy inside. spacious and comfy. the pinatas give it a fun, vibrant, festive atmosphere.walk to the back to the kitchen area, place your order. gal gave us a ticket so we could walk up front with it to pay.chorizo breakfast burrito was good quality chorizo. got it without potatoes cuz im low carb or something. the chorizo has a very strong flavour which is a good thing but next time i'll get it with papas to lessen the chorizo impact.chorizo impact is my new band's name.gordita is fun and yummy. sandwich bread is a crunchy, cornmeal kinda deal. asada also top quality.chicharones are excellent! crunchy and salty and yummy. i believe theyre made there?tortilla chips were decent. wish they were freshly fried and salted.there's nowhere to sit down & eat. takeout only! which is fine.they have ice cream by the scoop too. sort of like thrifty back in the day. i want to get some next time.$7 brekkie burritos? SIGN ME UP!there was a lil' hiccup because the gal taking our order, her english wasnt the best. but she was super nice and it was not a big deal. =)we'll be back!

Im giving the store 1 star due to the fact that I went to buy meat today (1/27/25)and when I got home to cut it, it had the worst smell ever I don't think I've ever smelled anything like it. I looked at it close and it was yellowing so I am not sure if it's starting to rot or who knows. The smell is so bad I feel sick to my stomach. Luckily I called and the lady was very nice and told me I can go back to return it. I don't think I'll be buying meat again from here. Especially because it's not the first time I have this experience with the meat from there. Sad face ...... the people there are nice I'll give them that.

So delicious and flavorful, the meat is always cooked to perfection. The salsas are spicy and have good flavor. Same owners as their previous name La Rosa, we have been eating here for close to 10 years, so happy they survived a car crashing into the building, the pandemic, and renovations. Making my way through their menu!!!

So good!! I've had their tacos, tamales, gorditas, and tortas. I've been very happy with all my meals. The salsas are spicy and flavorful. All the meats are good so I try to mix it up. My favorites are the cabeza, lengua and carne asada. Very yummy place to grab some Mexican food.

Some of the best carnitas I've had - retain their crispiness even in a burrito - and friendly staff - highly recommend.
