This place is amazing! The ambiance just very Japanese, wooden, bar, with dim lights, and interesting decor. It looks and feels very modern. I came here for 1 on 1 date with my partner, and it fit the vibe perfectly.I had several food items. We started with roast brussel sprouts, that were beautifully coated with a dressing I can't quite put the name to, and it came with a side of like a white sauce, that I don't know either! Following that we had the carpaccio, which sits on this ponzu sauce, it was just melting into our mouths. We then go the Spicy Liz, which I actually thought was just okay. The fish was a delight as expected and the presentation was good, but I think the texture fo the seaweed really threw us off, like the spicy tuna on the inside was very wet and almost too wet. Then I had the Wagyu Beef Ramen, which comes with a beef tallow. The beef, noodles, and grilled bok choy were delicious. The beef was exceptional and medium-rare (heavier on the rare), and I loved it through and through. I'd give it a 4.5/5, but since it's yelp, lets just go 5/5!coming back here again, dying to try some of their signature sashimi and other items!

I'm so full!! The food was amazing and so were the drinks we ordered. We even ate dessert when we had no business trying to eat more. You know when you have a bite or two of your dish left, but it's soo good you force yourself to keep eating. That's what we did. Our server was great. The staff in general worked liked a well-oiled machine. Plates removed almost as soon as they were finished and waters refilled without us ever needing to do it ourselves even though there was a carafe at our table. Food presentation was beautiful and the ambiance of the restaurant was low-lit perfect for our date night. We did make reservations and we did eat early (at 5pm) so we didn't have to wait for a table and parking wasn't atrocious. Excellent food and service all around, this place definitely lives up to the hype! I forgot to take pictures of most of our drinks and food!

Our server, Brita was so attentive and kind. Super knowledgeable as well and made our experience so nice! What we ordered: 2 kamatoro nigiri, 2 otoro nigiri, and a chirashidon. The fish we got were so delicious and fatty, we were constantly in awe after every bite. The chirashidon in the past would have some fish I didn't like, but they changed up the fish and it was absolutely delish! Ambiance: It's dimly lit with a variety of people: friends and families, but it's still a nice date night spot.

My daughter made hard to get reservations for my birthday since we were going to be in Sacramento that night. It was incredibly crowded and a lot of birthdays going on. We had a 8:45 reservation and we were happy with our table and our server. We all loved this place so muchand definitely will return next time in Sacto! I remember reading a few years back that Kru was up for a Michelin star but didn't receive it.

My 100th review! Parking is easy. There is a giant secondary lot right across the back parking area. I had a reservation and arrived on time, my party of two was seated promptly. We were seated and ordered a few cocktails, they were both good but pricey - I think $16 each. For food, we ordered an appetizer, a few pieces of nigiri from the daily list (the standout was the barracuda) and the Kings roll which was really good. I thought the food was reasonably priced for the quality of the fish and the presentation. I might skip the cocktail and do Sake or an N/A drink next time. I've ordered from the Kru to Go a few times at the Line Kitchen as well. Love that you have that option if you want Kru without dining in.

An absolutely exquisite experience from start to finish. We made last-minute reservations for four and they were able to accommodate a 5th during peak hours on a friday. The table was near the door, but that didn't ruin the experience at all. The service was top notch from walking through the door to leaving after the meal. Emily was wonderful along with multiple servers. The cocktail game here is absolutely on point with a HUGE menu of mixed drinks - include a good variety of NA options. The Kru Old Fashioned is one of the best house old fashioned a I've had in a long time, but every other drink I tried was just as interesting and delicious. The Open Sesame in particular walked a fine balance between sweet and savory that mixed perfectly with my meal.Every single food item we ordered was delicious, with a few highlights. The Sashimi Tapas was a work of art, with incredible care taken to presentation and flavor of each of the five types of fish. We tried the Go Green and Sunshine rolls, and while both were good, the Sunshine might one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had. I know it punts Japanese tradition, but there's just something about green apple in sushi that elevates it.We had the blood orange sorbet for dessert, and it was the perfect cap on a memorable night of food and drinks.

We have been to Kru a few times but have always been wanting to have their omakase! You can email to get on the email list for omakase reservations, so I have been in contact with their assistant general manager Mary, who has been so awesome to work with! Their omakase is very limited, only 5 seats available on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so I highly recommend booking as soon as you can if you need a specific date. We arrived on Wednesday a few minutes before our reservation and I was surprised to see it so packed for a weekday evening. And it did not slow down one bit!! So great to see in this current climate of restaurants closing down. Kru is an absolute Sacramento staple and I can see other people feel that way too!I forgot our server's name but she was very attentive without interrupting us either. She even brought out champagne for us in the beginning which was so kind. Our sushi chef for the night was Justin. He was nice and asked us often how each course was. I wish he spoke a little bit louder but otherwise he was quite informative! Our particular menu was 10 courses, consisting of a variety of plates from the kitchen and from the sushi chef in front of us. Everything was absolutely amazing but my highlights were the unagi croquette (I don't even like unagi so that's saying something!), red snapper nigiri, and the hotate nigiri. There was also a garlic type dip in the sashimi course that was absolutely amazing! I appreciated that they had a variety of types of dishes from salad, to a steak tataki, to chawanmushi, and not just nigiri. The flavors were unique too and not just traditional that you'd see on any other omakase menu. It's a longer timeframe so just be prepared to be seated about 3 hours! You'll be plenty full too so don't be fooled by the plating size. Really enjoyed our meal here and so glad we got to celebrate our anniversary here!

Great service, great food, wonderful time. We recently visited from a long hiatus, and we were not disappointed. We walked in on a Saturday evening. The wait for two was an hour long. Didn't feel long because it was our date night, so we decided to walk around to kill some time. At the 45 min mark, we checked in again and were happy to get a seat not too long after. Our server was so nice! I'd didn't grab her name, but kudos to our server! Not only did she help us find the right options, but definitely catered to our needs as the night went on. We enjoyed our food and our stay. Always a great time at Kru!

A truly special and unique Japanese restaurant offering an upscale dining experience! My partner and I took Mom here for her birthday and it was the best decision ever.We struggled to secure reservations for a party of 6 so we arrived 15 minutes early to doorbust. There were about 7-9 parties in line when the restaurant opened and we were 4-5th in line. The quality of the fish was exceptional and melts right in your mouth. We really liked the Lobster Dumplings and A5 Wagyu skewers too. The dessert was good but not up to par with the appetizers or main dishes. Of the 3 we tried, I would rank the Kombu Creme Brulee as my favorite, then Tempura Cheesecake, followed by the Matcha Tiramisu.Highly recommend for a special occasion, if you're visiting Sacramento, or just because!

I'm not going to say anything that hasn't already been said. The service here is bar none. The ambiance is modern, trendy, and earthy wood. The food is excellent, one of the best sushi places in Sacramento. I highly recommend the Kings Roll, but they do everything beautifully. I was surprised by the squash salad this time. Definitely a fancy date night or celebratory place. Apologies for the photos being a little dark. The restaurant has supreme mood lighting.
