The food was overall, flavorful and came out fast! We ordered the thai iced tea, crab rangoon, seafood pad cha and chicken pad thai. The main highlight for us was the seafood pad cha! We were surprised how fresh the seafood was and devoured it easily. The pad thai was on the sweeter side which I don't really prefer but still good. Our waiter was super attentive and the staff was great.

Centrally popular location at the crossroads of vibrant midtown Sacramento serving notably more unique (less often seen) nonetheless delicious authentic Thai cuisine Food:Chicken satay - 5/5 - delicious grilled chicken skewers with peanut sauce and a side of pickled veggiesMoo ping (pork skewers) - 4/5 - pretty good, not exceptional Crab fried rice - 5/5 - worth the price!!! It's expensive but generous with the jumbo lump crabEgg-wrapped Pad Thai with prawns - 4/5 - it literally is Pad Thai, that's wrapped up in a fried egg omelette (kind of gimmicky); not actual prawns but with jumbo shrimpPad Thai with chicken - 4.5/5 - very good but not exceptionalTom yum goong fried rice - 5/5 - another delicious option for fried rice with a spicy Thai flavor and jumbo shrimpGreen curry with chicken - 5/5 - perfectly sweet and spiciness along with some select veggies that go really well together Yellow curry with chicken - 4.5/5 - loaded with a variety of veggies which were nice but made finding the chicken sometimes difficult Massaman curry with beef - 5/5 - delicious potato and peanut based curryPandan coconut crepe cake - 5/5 - so decadent delicious ... this is one of my all-time favorite desserts!!! Ambience:Mimics the outdoor Thai street food vendorsService:No complaints

Ordered some Khao Soi for takeout and it was so delicious! Loved that the noodles and other ingredients were packaged separately from the creamy broth. Customer service is very friendly. Interior of the restaurant was beautiful- casual yet elegant from the dark wood to thoughtful decor. I would definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

Came here on a Wednesday afternoon. We ordered the oyster mushroom salad, the curry puffs, and the Tom yum goong fried rice. The oyster mushroom salad was my favorite. It was pretty spicy and very flavorful. It was fresh and the mushrooms and tofu were the perfect texture and flavor added to the salad- I've never had anything like it. We added some of the sauce from the oyster mushroom salad to the Tom yum fried rice and it made the Tom yum fried rice taste even better. They were very generous with their shrimps and they were very large. The curry puffs were also very tasty. The outer shell was warm and flaky and the pickled cucumbers balanced the flavors out very well. Overall, everything was very delicious and I would definitely come back!

Among the many restaurants I had bookmarked to try while in Sacramento, Kin Thai sat fairly high on my list. In part because I love Thai street food, but mostly because of all of the heady praise I had heard about them and the number of friends who recommended them. So, to say I was excited to unexpectedly come across this place after walking around the Midtown Farmer's Market would be quite the understatement! I mean, how could it feel anything but serendipitously when we had just started to debate on where to head off to for lunch?Stepping inside on such a hot and sunny day, Kin Thai felt like a refuge in more ways than one. Beyond just how good their A/C felt as it cooled us down, it was nice how cozy it felt in here. Even with all of the people and music going on outside, everything felt so relaxed and peaceful. Of course, our excitement as we scrolled through the menu added to the vibes as well. From their slate of rotating specials, appetizers, soups, and salads to their skewers rice plates, stir-fried noodles, and noodle soups, there were a number of dishes that caught our eye! So much so, in fact, that we somewhat regretted the fact that we didn't come here with friends so that we could try more things!-- CORN FRITTERS - Crispy Fried Corn Fritters Served with Cucumber Vinaigrette Sauce...$10All in all, this was pretty solid. Each fritter was packed with corn and was fried to the perfect crispiness, but what impressed me most was how sweet they tasted and how they weren't nearly as oily as I feared they would be. Yum!-- TOM YUM SOUP - Hot and Spicy Broth with Dry Chili, Lemongrass, Makrut Lime Leaves, Fresh Oyster Mushrooms, Galangal, Lime Juice, and Shrimp (+$3)...$7We got this on accident (we meant to get the noodle soup version), but I was happy to check this out. The soup was light and had a nice punch of that classic sour and spicy profile to it. However, I do wish it came with a bit more stuff in the bowl, as it felt a little scant.-- SOFT SHELL CRAB WITH CURRY SAUCE - Golden Fried Soft Shell Crab, Crab Meat, Yellow Onions, Green Onions, Celery, and Sweet Peppers in a Sweet and Savory Yellow Curry Sauce with Jasmine Rice...$32I originally had something else in mind, but immediately flipped to this because it was so interesting. While the crab was delicious and mixed well with all of the elements, the curry itself was a miss. Mostly, it felt like it was broken, as it had a gloppy consistency instead of being smooth and creamy.-- TOM YUM NOODLE SOUP - Choice of Thin Rice Noodles or Egg Noodles, Seasoned Ground Pork, Roast Pork, Fish Balls, Fish Cake, Crispy Wonton Skins, and a Soft Boiled Egg...$20Interestingly, this tasted different than the soup, as it was a bit milder and not nearly as spicy or sour. That said, this wasn't bad. I'm not high on fried wonton skins, and the noodles were jus tokay, but I liked how it came with a generous amount of fish balls/cake and roast pork.As far as service goes, I thought the workers were all pretty nice and friendly from the moment we walked in. Which, in turn, is why I feel as guilty for not thinking as highly of the food as so many of my fellow Yelpers. Honestly, it has less to do with anything being "bad" and more to do with nothing living up to the hype that we kept hearing. Despite how good the fritters were and how unique the Soft Shell Crab Curry was, the latter was closer to okay relative to its price and the other two dishes we had were more fine than fantastic. With all of that having been said, considering how beloved Kin Thai is, it's also entirely possible (probable?) that we simply didn't order the right things. At the very least, a couple of the dishes we tried aren't what I usually measure Thai restaurants by, so perhaps I would've had better luck with the things I normally get. If/when the opportunity arises for me to come back, I most definitely want to see if that ends up being the case!

I had a nice dinner here at Kin Thai. I was very hungry as I only had eaten an apple at 10am, and it was already 6pm. So as my coworker likes to say, "my eyes be pimpin my brain" because I ordered too much food. In my defense, the pics for the quail egg wontons showed three, and I got six! And they were yummy! The wontons were perfectly fried and the quail egg gave a nice pop to the bite. I think even if I wasn't ravenous, the egg wrapped pad thai could be shared between two people. I could only eat about 2/3 of the plate. The egg was paper thin, and it was fun cutting it to reveal the noodles. The shrimp was very plump and cooked just right. Presentation was beautiful!I like a strong tamarind flavor and this pad thai didn't quite have it. Maybe the sauce needs some more time to develop. The menu did say they cook northern Thai cuisine, so maybe it's me who's not familiar with this version. It was a Monday night so it was really quiet, even with the few groups of people there. I imagine it gets more foot traffic closer to the weekend. The restaurant is spacious and can accommodate parties of various sizes. I like the woodsy decor. And the wait staff were really nice and refilled my water often. It was scorching hot in Sac and I finished my glass often. I'd love to come back and try one of the curries.

The food was really good. I went with three of my friends and I got to try all of their food too and everyone's food was Poppington asf. The look of the restaurant is very modern and quaint. Also had really nice dim lighting it's definitely cute. Service was okay just a lot of young people distracted and on their phones it was hard to get their attention sometimes but not bad just not supper attentive. I will definitely be back. Food was 10/10 overall experience 9/10 for service.

We stepped in to Kin Thai after having passed by the location sooooo many times, not realizing it was a restaurant. . . From the street, it's kind of hidden, so know where you are going. Inside is wide open with lots of tables. When we arrived on a Sunday evening, we were told at the door they don't have tables available, but we could sit at the window counter. HMMM lot's of open tables though... The tables themselves are made of heavy wood and the seating is wrought iron with heavy wood (and hard) seats. Definitely NOT designed for anyone to linger after dinner. Kin Thai still uses the QR code system for placing your orders. But, they do have physical menus if you ask. Personally, I am so over the QR code menu system. For dinner, we had:Eggplant salad - very goodChicken satay - pretty standardMassaman curry beef - Excellent (ask for spicy and you won't be disappointed)The price and the amount of food delivered was plenty for two people. In the time we were there, the place quickly filled up, they all dined, and all left by the time we were finished with our meals. . . not that WE were lingering, but it just seems like this is how the patrons eat here. FAST...

We were so excited to try Kin Thai. The restaurant is located in an amazing and central location in Sac. However, I was pretty disappointed with the food. I ordered the Pad See Aew with Tofu as well as a Thai Iced Tea. The thai iced tea was delicious. Pretty much our whole table ended up ordering one to drink. However, the noodles were very bland and there could have been more sauce on the dish. Also, the only vegetable it was served with was chinese broccoli so the proportion of noodles to veg to protein felt off. We also came to Kin Thai thinking there were a lot of vegetarian options but there were actually a lot of restrictions if you like the more popular dishes like green curry and pad thai - both of which could not be made vegetarian. On a positive note, the restaurant itself was very spacious and clean. And the staff was very accommodating to our party and kind. But overall, probably won't be coming here again.
