Decided to hit Karai Sushi for lunch today.. and it was absolutely delicious!Gyoza reminded me of my mother's, and the Large Sashimi Plate was to die for..I will be saving this place as my goto sushi house on this side of town!

We walked in on a cold, gloomy, and rainy Sunday afternoon, about 15 minutes after they opened for dinner. Stepping inside was an instant shift in atmosphere--from the dreary weather to a bright, minimalist Japanese aesthetic. The space was small and intimate, with a relaxed vibe. We were greeted right away and seated quickly. With sports playing on the TV and early 2000s music at just the right volume, it felt casual and welcoming.The menu had plenty of tempting options, especially since there aren't many sushi spots in the area. I wanted to try a little bit of everything, and for the price and location, I wasn't disappointed.The fish and oysters were fresh, the sushi roll were well-balanced and thoughtfully made, and the beef kimchi ramen was hot, comforting, and full of flavor--exactly what I needed on a rainy day. Each dish was presented nicely, showing attention to detail. The pacing of the meal was great, giving us time to enjoy each course without feeling rushed.Overall, this spot exceeded my expectations. It's definitely worth a visit and I'd happily come back.

Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5I'm so thrilled I've found my new favorite sushi restaurant in town!!! It's such a cute and welcoming sushi spot. Staff were attentive and professional. II ordered sashimi, 7-level spicy kimchi noodles, lobster roll, lion king, and Karai roll. Sashimi was fresh, rolls were delicious with just enough sauce each bite. I loved the 7-level spicy noodles, definitely hit the spot since it's been raining and cold. Will definitely be back and try other items on the menu!!!!

I don't think there is a sushi place around this specific area and it's great that one has opened up here! This is their soft opening week and wished they would have advertised it more! But after speaking with the owner, I can understand why he chose to keep it light. The owner considers his employees' ability and mental well being, in being able to provide exceptional customer service, without the overwhelming pressure of what the 1st day/1st week of restaurant opening is. With this, his employees/trainees would be able to sharpen their skills and better serve their customers. The place looks really nice. Tables were spaced out nicely and does not make it look too crowded at all, despite it being a small place. Food were delicious. For appetizers we ordered: spicy garlic edamame, jalapeño bomb, & calamari. Sushi rolls: happy lemon roll, lion king roll, lobster roll, & karai roll. Sashimi: pepperfin & large sashimi plate. We enjoyed conversing with the owner. The servers and cooks were super welcoming. Everyone greeted us with a smile on their face. I highly recommend this place and we will be back!

We wanted to check out this spot after seeing it recently had a soft opening and we were not disappointed! Ambiance was really nice. I really like how their tables are arranged and it didn't feel crowded at all. The soft warm lighting makes for a comfortable and cozy atmosphere. We were seated right away and they were very attentive with our table, great service all around.We ordered the BBQ albacore, hamachi kama, spicy kimchi combination soup, and Salmon 2way and Happy Lemon sushi rolls - everything was delicious! I'm excited to come back and try more of their food. My pictures were taken hastily, so sorry, I was so excited to eat lol.

South Sac needed a sushi spot like this. I only got takeout but I'm excited to return and try out more or different items. I got the sea steak roll to-go and the rice ratio was perfect, they give a generous amount of fish, and I loved the spicy elements of chopped jalapeños and chili crunch. The service was quick and friendly and the inside is designed very nice with an intimate setting in mind. Small but fancy and the prices aren't over the top like Mikunis!

My husband was craving sushi, of course he wanted mikuni and I wanted to try something different and not have to drive so far. So I searched places close to us and found this gem. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated even though they were busy they accommodated us with our one year old. We ordered the jalapeño bomb for an app (highly recommended). I'm basic so I got the California roll and added cream cheese deep fried, my husband got nigiri and the Godzilla roll which he loved. We are both happy there's finally a sushi place close to home. Also not to mention, both servers here are awesome, very attentive and both would check on us frequently. Definitely our new go to spot.

I was so excited to try out this new sushi spot here in South Sacramento. I ordered online and was told my food would be ready in 20 minutes. I came into this nicely decorated restaurant and my food was ready as promised. I had ordered the Dragon Roll, King Spider, Karai and the Vegas Roll. All were very delicious and flavorful. So many great things to share about this place! The ambiance when you walk in is very calm, clean, and comfortable. The service was excellent. We sat at the bar and were provided water very quickly by the server. The sushi chefs were also very welcoming and offered to take our order when ready. The presentation had pretty details and overall the rolls looked appetizing. We tried the dragon roll, A5. Wagyu roll, and lion king roll. The chef also offered to make a custom roll and it was so good. All were delicious and filling. The price is very affordable for everything we got and for the high quality. The owner was kind/generous and gave us a scoop of Gunter's ice cream on the house and was the best way to end our meal. Definitely recommend you try Karai for your next Sushi date night!
