ATTENTION: I had an appointment at #jsremixedhairdesign at 7 AM. 2/13/2021I had an appointment because the loc extensions he put at the end of last year were falling out. Paid $1000 for them. I kindly requested that the person doing my hair (the Owner) put on a mask. I told him that my wife was pregnant and I didn't want to take any chances.He told me he was NOT going to put one on and that if that doesn't work for me he doesn't have to do my hair.He knew that I had plans tomorrow and he was trying to manipulate me. We were the only people in his dirty azz salon. I was so pissed ! He will feel my fury as I am going to file complaints and pencil whip that ass!On my way out he asked me, how can my partner and I have a baby. Which confirmed to me what I was feeling all along, that he was homophobic. Probably because he hates that side of himself.

Being that I have never worn my real hair always boxbraids, quick weaves, singles, lace fronts, frontals...etc. I was very sensitive on who was going to be the 1st salon ever to dress my dreads. I looked and researched high and low for 3 days...And I came across J's Remixed Finally!! I thought for sure it was too good to be true...Arriving at my appointment and he was there and ready I knew that I had made the right decision. I'm from L.A where there are alot of Black Owned businesses here in Sacramento there are not many. But for the ones that are I try to support. I was besides myself when I realized J's was Black Owned. I mean he got it going on!! Professional Salon 3 different quarters, very comfortable environment, water, snack and flat screens for your viewing in every room..Not to mention the professionalism and Customer Service was unreal. My hair was damaged in areas because I never tend to it, but it was nothing "J" couldn't solve, If There is a Dog Whisperer..... "J" Remixed is the "Hair Whisperer"!! Handsdown!All under one roof...Retwist real dreads, Add in Dreads, Color Hair, Weaves, Frontals, Boxbraids,Repair and Hair products you cant get anywhere else!! and more that I have not mentioned im sure.I want to give a HUGE SHOUT OUT And Thanks to "J" for making it possible for me to wear my Real hair for the first time in life, with the confidence I was seeking. He is the only person that will ever dress my dreads,The first and the Last. You are such an inspiration for all Black people and people alike. -0 In December of 2018, I went to J to start my (formerly known as Dreadlocks)I wanted loc extensions! J assured me that he was more than capable of completing the task! Over $1,000 later here I am in October of 2019 and I have locs falling out still! To find out underneath my locs there is braiding hair French braided and he just wrapped the Loc hair around the braid and GLUED THE ENDS!!! I was asked during the process did I want them all the same size and length. I answered yes!!! I have multiple sizes and lengths! He charged me extra for the length! Although from a distance my hair looks ok. My hair and appearance is very important to me and I have truly experienced depression over this botched job and the amount of money I spent!And like others have stated he was not timely for my appointment, he took an hour lunch break and I spent about 16 hours! We had to wait for his wife to bring more hair! -0 rating I was so excited about beginning my Loc journey after wanting them for over 20yrs and becoming comfortable enough with myself to give in to my want! Now I find myself questioning my decision!! This is why after 10 months I finally felt compelled to write a review. I become very emotional when telling people about my hair!

just nowNEWGot there for my appointment at 10. Went to the door, locked. No one was there. I called, received a call back and text that they were running late and on the way. That was 10:03am We waited until 10:30 contacted the stylist. She said 5 min away. 10:45 rolls around still no one or no word. So we left. I text her that she was very unprofessional and her response was "she left her keys at home and but she's there now"! I refused to turn around and pay her my money.. never again will I come here or recommend smh

This was a diamond in the rough to find.I was very happy when I first found j's flyer for Hair several years back, it's been almost 4 years since.I'm from a rural area that doesn't have any options for African-American hair or any ethnic hair stylist, so travel many many miles to have my dreads done...From place to place location to location over the years.J is 1 of the 2 I have ever had touch my hair since i started my dreads,he is always flexible and willing to work with your schedule also very considerate of others to making sure that your satisfied with your visit...The new shop location is excellent for those traveling alot much like my self.J provides snacks,television as well as music for entertainment for those who don't engage in converse much...Comfort and satisfaction...

J is THE MAN! Comfortable little hair studio on Arden- it's easy to overlook but definitely come on in if you are ready to go on your dreadlock journey. Luckily I'm not tender-headed because J is thorough! I didn't expect to have starter locks this tight right out of the gate, definitely money well spent! He does all hair types and is very flexible with scheduling. There aren't many spots in Sac who do this, most people I know head into the Bay Area to get theirs done....save yourself the trip and get it done

I scheduled a last minute appointment with them and was very grateful to get in! We confirmed the night before and everything was good. I show up the next day at my scheduled time and the door is locked. Nobody is anywhere to be found so I call and text. Mind you, anytime you call it goes straight to voicemail and they text back (first red flag). I get a text back 20 minutes later asking if we could push it back to 1.5 hours later, something came up. I politely declined. I had someone watching my child and was pretty upset that I got no heads up before I came out there (not from the area). I really try my best to support black owned businesses and keep getting burned. I will continue to do so, but we must do better! After looking at other reviews, I'm not the first one this has happened to.

I've been meaning to write my review on them based on my session in early November.I had a previous dye for my birthday in September that didn't end up how I wanted, and needed the color redone for my engagement shoot. I couldn't get a date set for my previous stylist, and it was becoming frustrating for myself, myb fiancé, and photographer. I checked Yelp, and reached out to J's. The contact was quick and they had no issue answering ALL of my questions. Based on what I needed, they gave me a reasonable quote and the next day we set a date. The day of the appointment, they called me stating they would be arriving behind due a small miscommunication and wanted to reimburse me for the trouble. It was a good wait, but I had no issue that day. It's a smaller shop, but they made it comfortable watching stand up comedy and a good movie. We started the color and they informed me their sink was not prepared and we would need to use another in the building. They were embarrassed, but again I had no issue as long as the dye was washed out. After the washout, we realized my initial dye from September did not come out it only enhanced... Which I didn't want. They worked with me to get it out and get the color I wanted.The lift we used was powerful and mixed with what I had initially it came out gold. It was blonder than I wanted but it was a great color for me. My roots were a little "loud", but they offered to do a rinse out color the next week if I was not pleased. I told him I should be fine, as long as the roots faded... They did.He took photos for himself afterwards, and asked if I could send photos from our shoot. I had to reschedule my engagement shoot because I was so sick, but I told him I could do that. The fact that they were so quick and compassionate to the customers needs and comfort made this experience even better. I am very thankful for their work, and that they will be nearby when I move. Highly disappointed I thought j was better than this!!! I reached out to have my hair tooken down and for a new different hairstyle. Booked appointment for 7:30 am, got there he was not ready, then asked me to come around noon and wasn't there!! I wasted so much gas getting there and back twice. I left him calls and messages. No response!!! Communication is KEY hairstylist.

I came in to start my dread journey and was very specific about what I wanted I asked for it to look neat and clean. I got the opposite. He was very distracted with other things and left me there to sit under a hair dryer for over an hour by myself. The place was filthy nasty there was trash everywhere. I'm sure at one point it was a nice place but I'll tell u now it is not that anymore. I'm so upset with my hair now I have to pray I can find someone to fix it
