We wanted to try their dim sum, but they open at 10:30 a.m., which is a little late for us. We also had a chance to try their dinner, but the waitress always seemed so busy.Overall, the food we ordered was good, and we could tell them to cook with less oil and salt. The plaza here always has lots of parking.

Solid dim sum option in Elk Grove! The shrimp rice roll, siu mai, and chicken feet were our favorites. Got here around 11 on a Sunday and the entire restaurant was full. Not sure why they have so many one star reviews, but for dim sum and location this is a good option. I'd say this is less greasy than Ming Dynasty and better than Happy Garden. Asia Pearl is slightly better and has more options but for convenience and reasonable prices I'd definitely return.

We originally intended to swing by another establishment during the holidays but the location was packed and had an hour wait when we arrived around 1045AM. I'm not sure if the parking area is normally this hectic but when arriving during a rainy day on a holiday it was pretty tough to find a parking spot.We decided to walk a few doors down and walked into Joy City. Fortunately, despite it being busy here as well, we were immediately greated, seated and gave us enough time to observe the menu and order our food.We were completely satisfied with everything we ordered. Pork buns, hot and sour soup, dumplings, chow being among other things. Loved it! My 4 year old nieces can be picky eaters but they kept wanting more it was nice to see.Looks like I've got another go to spot when fam swings by and visits from so cal!

My go to place in EG to order take out for family. The food is good, quick and service is always pleasant. It's pretty authentic but limited in a variety of chinese vegetables. They started serving dim sum about 2 years ago. It's not bad, but I'd rather go to South Sacramento or Well Season for the dim sum.

We stopped in for dim sum. Ordered a variety of dishes to try, and they were all very good. The shrimp balls were very meaty and nice and crispy. All of the shrimp dishes provided plenty of fresh shrimp, but you definitely needed the sauces to bring out the flavor. The soybean pork roll, chicken feet, and sticky rice made up in flavor, and were really tasty. The broccoli, served with oyster sauce was tender with the right amount of crunch. The spareribs in black bean sauce was juicy, with very light black bean sauce flavoring, and the sui mai and shrimp balls, a must on a dim sum menu. There are no rolling carts. You order off a list by marking the items you want, and how many orders, which to me, is more sanitary. The prices seem reasonably priced, and I look forward to come back for dim sum again, or for lunch and dinner.@yelpSacramento@joycityinElkGrove

Love dim sum. I like coming to Joy City as service is always friendly and food is good. Great place to have tea with friends or family. Came in on a Monday around 11a and there was no wait but it gets busy. My favorite is the shrimp rice roll.

My saying is that a good way to discern a solid authentic Chinese restaurant is checking if it's under 4 stars. I previously went to Joy City before the change of ownership. We came for lunch and ordered a bunch of classic cantonese dishes & dim sum. Everything was hot and tasty! The cheong fun / rice rolls, har gao, and siu mai were comparable to the dim sum halls in SF/Milpitas. Service was fast and lunch was served with hot tea. There were several families enjoying their weekend gatherings at this local Elk Grove cantonese restaurant. Overall a pleasant experience and would stop by again the next time I'm in Elk Grove.

My family used to go to Well Season for dim sum but I think now we will continue to go to Joy City for it. Both the service and food were better. Some of the selections had a little more spice added to them. I'm one of the few who orders chicken feet and well Joy City's chicken feet was packed with flavor and the size portion seemed a little bigger than some dim sum places. I used to come to this restaurant a lot when I lived in Elk Grove because their food was good and it still is.

It was our first time going to this restaurant and it was worth going to. First thing for me is always the location and parking. It's located in Elk Grove in a shopping plaza. The parking area is not that big considering there are other restaurants next to it. The restaurant is clean, which is always a plus for me. The service was also good even though there were a few miscommunication. The food was very good. I love their Fried Rice and their General Chicken. We will definitely go back here in the near future.
