I love this club. I've taken a loooonnnng time to write this, thinking I should experience more activities, but Yelp keeps reminding me every time I check in and I probably won't dabble in more activities, so let's do this! All the staff is so nice, including the membership coordinators, the front desk check-in staff, the instructors (even those you haven't even taken a class from), the café staff, and even the cleaning ladies. I've had long conversations with the front desk, café, and janitorial staff. One Zumba instructor I play pickleball with sometimes! My primary activity is pickleball, of course! This is the premier place to play pickleball in the greater Sacramento area. Sure, you can struggle to play on a public court or join other sports clubs with pickleball, but where do all the pros eventually gather, and where are the most local tournaments held? It's here at the Johnson Ranch Pickleball Complex (South facility) with its 24 beautiful and maintained courts. The beauty of Johnson Ranch's pickleball is that it's not hard to find open play. It's also organized by skill level, unlike the public courts. We have a pickleball director, multiple pro instructors, and 3 pickleball event organizers putting together fun events for us: the popular Kings/Queens of the Court, women's/men's/mixed doubles events, ladders, MLP teams (I can't wait!), beginner Pickleball 101 classes free to the public, Challenge the Pros game, prize challenges, Live Ball and other drill classes, and pickleball classes and camps. You can also reserve a pickleball court or a swim lane for free with your membership. All our pickleball courts are lighted until 10 pm!Gym equipment, swimming pools, hot tubs, and children's wading pools can be found here. The group exercise studio and cycling studio are also at the South facility.Other than pickleball, these are my favorite classes:10 AM Aqua Fit Class (M W F Sat Sun)Dance Fusion Class (Thu 2x, Sat with instructors Lori N or Ali B)Sometimes, I will go to Julia's 4:30 Warrior Flow Yoga class on Thursday before Dance Fusion class. I should try more classes, but they all conflict or compete against pickleball or aqua fit class. The Aqua Fit ladies like to chit chat and celebrate birthdays monthly with a potluck after class. To celebrate, one woman sometimes brings her homing pigeons to release, and they fly home...so cool! Kathee on Mondays and Wednesdays is the instructor I interact with most. Kelly on Fridays seems to be the most popular with her water aerobics class. The Dance Fusion instructors Lori and Ali have years of dance training in different types of dance. The rest of us in class are just trying to keep up and wishing to look as hip, coordinated, and graceful as them. We're working on the Beyonce Texas Hold Em TikTok Dance currently! We've done the Shivers line dance and Michael Jackson's Thriller dance before. There are group classes in yoga, cardio, strength training, cycling, pilates, barre, and more. The morning group exercise devotees will often attend three classes in a row!The food and drink menus at the South cafe are extensive. I love the $1 slushies, which are what I want on a hot day. I need to try one of the homemade cookies someday. There's also homemade banana bread. You can hire a personal trainer or get private instruction in your sport of choice.Johnson Ranch offers after school programs and summer programs for kids (i.e., swimming, pickleball camps), as well as child care. You can contact a membership coordinator or sign up online for a free one week trial:https://www.sparetimesportsclubs.com/free-one-week-membership/During the summer, there is sometimes a free two week trial if you contact [email protected] year, I won a free two week membership from spinning the prize wheel during a Friday Night Lights pickleball party. To look for pickleball events at Johnson Ranch, sign up for a free account on the Playtimescheduler.com website. Free 5 PM beginner Pickleball 101 lessons are usually in a brown circle on the 1st and 3rd Fridays every month. The free 6-9 PM Friday Night Lights party open to the public is usually in a brown circle on the 3rd Friday. On the last Friday of the month, you can bring in 4 free guests.Time is precious. If you want to play and improve at pickleball quickly, this is the place to be.

I've been here many times mostly for adult USTA league matches. The club is the mirror image of Gold River Sports Club. The facility is excellent with weight / exercise room, pool, tennis courts. The locker room is very clean and the staff are super laid back and friendly.

I joined JRSC this past December motivated mostly to play pickleball. They had a special rate going on for those who join by the end of the year and that motivated me to join.I visited the club for the first time as a non-member this past December to play pickleball indoors (it was raining and there are few places in the community to play inside). They use the gym to set up three nets. It's sometimes to difficult to see the ball since the yellow ball sort of blends in with the gym floor - and the lines on the floor take time to get adjusted to, but it's a decent experience if you're desperate to play and it's raining outside. There's a $15 charge for a guest pass.Outside courts are a different story altogether. There are 24 dedicated courts with great lights. I'm pretty sure you won't find another place in the greater Sacramento area that have more courts than this - not to mention the quality, the courts feel brand new. And the lights make you feel like it's daytime play. This ain't no rinky dink set-up.If you've played pickleball in the community, so many of the courts are in bad condition with cracking, hollow spots etc. Eastern Oaks in Citrus Heights just closed half their courts because of damage from the rain. Yeah, you can find plenty of courts in the area - but the good courts are few and far between - not to mention the waits and the fees to join the clubs in order to play on those courts. So the pickleball courts sold me but they also have a couple racquetball courts and a ton of tennis courts. There's a fitness center that other Yelpers say need updating but honestly it works for me. I'm not a gym rat but I do work out regularly and I find it more than adequate for me. Across the street, there's a North Side property with a larger, more expansive fitness center with the tennis courts. The club has a lot of activities centered around pickleball play - classes, clinics, socials and events that make playing pickleball even more fun. There's plenty of drop-in play going on, so you don't need partners. You just show up and cue up your paddle and you'll be rotated in. I've found everyone to be friendly and welcoming. Friends play for free on the last Friday of every month which is cool. And additionally members also get a few guest passes to use every month for random friends and family. For me, I'm here for the pickleball. Johnson Ranch is a great discovery. I've talked to several members who, like me, joined the club to play pickleball. So far, so good! I'm really glad I joined.

We really enjoy the atmosphere at JRSC. We have kids on their swim team which necessitates a membership to the club. I'm really glad it does, though, because it allowed us to discover a fabulous gym. The south side is where we spend most of our time, because it has the kids club for our older kid, and a play center for our younger ones. The child care is really great. Like exceptionally great. Ms. Michelle leads a wonderful team, they're super patient and caring--especially with clingier kids like our youngest. I work out pretty early and Barbara at the front desk always greets me with a hello and asks how the kids are doing. And the administrative staff have always been super helpful when we had issues with our account or needed to put a hold on it for a few months. The north side location has a ton more options for work out equipment, indoor courts for racquet and handball, and saunas for people who like to sweat without the physical exertion part of working out. My only tiny complaint is that you have to check out locker keys on the north side, whereas you can just use your membership card on the south side.Definitely VERY pleased with the club overall.

I was a member here for two years prior to switching over to Gold's in Granite Bay. I left because the dues were increasing year after year and the fitness facilaties were getting older and not updated. The real advantage of this gym is if you either play tennis, racquetball or swim a lot. If you don't do any of those, you will be much better off either at Gold's or the 24 Fitness in Roseville. The dues here are over double what you pay elsewhere. In addition, the club is divided between two building that are down the street from each other and neither is that impressive on their own. I enjoy taking spin (cycle) classes and their schedule of those is very limited.

Very bad experience.I invested money on things to work out at Johnson ranch. The staff was very rude like they are a elite country club when the equipment is out dated and the members for the most part snobby like they were some reason special and delicate cause they were white but treated me very harsh. In one incident a staff member asked what did I want when I only desired to ask about a piece of equipment they refused to put up despite them ignoring my request several times. Not very welcoming after they get you to sign a agreement. That is when there true colors came out.Not recommended if you are Mexican or Black cause they will try to make you there token member. My advice.Just go to planet fitness.Alittle over a hundred a year verse a month to be around a bunch of losers.

One of the top tennis clubs in the Sacramento area. Totally first class. The tennis program headed up by head Pro Cris Bacharach is tough to beat. Its general amenities are unrivaled. Love the pro shop with Gary Lee .... who's been there forever. Unparalleled service from a carrying staff. Overall, this club is just a wonderful operation.
