I love this club. I've taken a loooonnnng time to write this, thinking I should experience more activities, but Yelp keeps reminding me every time I check in and I probably won't dabble in more activities, so let's do this! All the staff is so nice, including the membership coordinators, the front desk check-in staff, the instructors (even those you haven't even taken a class from), the café staff, and even the cleaning ladies. I've had long conversations with the front desk, café, and janitorial staff. One Zumba instructor I play pickleball with sometimes! My primary activity is pickleball, of course! This is the premier place to play pickleball in the greater Sacramento area. Sure, you can struggle to play on a public court or join other sports clubs with pickleball, but where do all the pros eventually gather, and where are the most local tournaments held? It's here at the Johnson Ranch Pickleball Complex (South facility) with its 24 beautiful and maintained courts. The beauty of Johnson Ranch's pickleball is that it's not hard to find open play. It's also organized by skill level, unlike the public courts. We have a pickleball director, multiple pro instructors, and 3 pickleball event organizers putting together fun events for us: the popular Kings/Queens of the Court, women's/men's/mixed doubles events, ladders, MLP teams (I can't wait!), beginner Pickleball 101 classes free to the public, Challenge the Pros game, prize challenges, Live Ball and other drill classes, and pickleball classes and camps. You can also reserve a court (pickleball, tennis, racquetball, or squash) or a swim lane for free with your membership. The North facility has 25 tennis courts. All our tennis and pickleball courts are lighted until 10 pm!Gym equipment, swimming pools, hot tubs, and children's wading pools can be found at both North and South facilities. The North facility has a sauna and steam room. The group exercise studio and cycling studio are in the South facility.Other than pickleball, these are my favorite classes:10 AM Aqua Fit Class (M W F Sat Sun)Dance Fusion Class (Thu 2x, Sat with instructors Lori N or Ali B)Sometimes, I will go to Julia's 4:30 Warrior Flow Yoga class on Thursday before Dance Fusion class. I should try more classes, but they all conflict or compete against pickleball or aqua fit class. The Aqua Fit ladies like to chit chat and celebrate birthdays monthly with a potluck after class. To celebrate, one woman sometimes brings her homing pigeons to release, and they fly home...so cool! Kathee on Mondays and Wednesdays is the instructor I interact with most. Kelly on Fridays seems to be the most popular with her water aerobics class. The Dance Fusion instructors Lori and Ali have years of dance training in different types of dance. The rest of us in class are just trying to keep up and wishing to look as hip, coordinated, and graceful as them. We're working on the Beyonce Texas Hold Em TikTok Dance currently! We've done the Shivers line dance and Michael Jackson's Thriller dance before. There are group classes in yoga, cardio, strength training, cycling, pilates, barre, and more. The morning group exercise devotees will often attend three classes in a row!The food and drink menus at both the North and South cafes are extensive. I like the Chicken Caesar Salad for around $8 and love the $1 slushies! I need to try one of the homemade cookies someday. There's also homemade banana bread. I heard the smoothies were good from a personal trainer. You can hire a personal trainer or get private instruction in your sport of choice.Johnson Ranch offers after school programs and summer programs for kids (i.e., swimming, pickleball camps), as well as child care. You can contact a membership coordinator or sign up online for a free one week trial:https://www.sparetimesportsclubs.com/free-one-week-membership/During the summer, there is sometimes a free two week trial if you contact [email protected] year, I won a free two week membership from spinning the prize wheel during a Friday Night Lights pickleball party. To cancel a month-to-month membership, you just need to give notice before the 15th of the previous month. You can also put your membership on vacation hold ($15 per month?) or medical hold ($5 per month, prorated when you start back up and the $5 that month is credited, hold for an initial 3 months and extend as needed). On the last Friday of the month, you can bring in 4 free guests. To look for pickleball events at Johnson Ranch, sign up for a free account on the Playtimescheduler.com website. Free 5 PM beginner Pickleball 101 lessons are usually in a brown circle on the 1st and 3rd Fridays every month. The free 6-9 PM Friday Night Lights party open to the public is usually in a brown circle on the 3rd Friday.Time is precious. If you want to play and improve at pickleball quickly, this is the place to be.

I don't know what we would do without Johnson Ranch. The facilities are in good shape, nothing fancy, but definitely clean and well maintained. The equipment is more than enough and they have awesome classes for just about any level or exercise type. Now for the main event. The staff and kids programs at JRSC are better than anything I've seen. Our kids love going there so much. They know all the staff by name and have so much fun while they are there. From their world class swimming instructors and team, wonderful child care play center, kids night out activities that give parents a much needed break, enriching and fun summer camps, and holiday events. There is so much here. Johnson Ranch is so more than just a gym. It's a community. A community where we feel loved, supported, and able to get the activities and fun we need. I am convinced that joining this gym is one of the better decisions I've made in a long time. Whether you have a family or not, this place has it all. You can't go wrong with Johnson Ranch.

My tennis team recently played here for NorCal Sectionals. Wow - this place isn't a tennis club... it's a tennis compound! It's perhaps the biggest, most complete racquet club I've ever been to. But don't let its large size intimidate you. Johnson Ranch is also one of the best managed clubs I've ever visited.Pros:- plenty of parking- two comfy clubhouses- huge gym (with all the machines you could hope for)- 30+ tennis courts- Pickleball courts (apparently, pickleball is the new thing)- 2 heated pools, a kiddie pool, and a couple therapeutic spas- Clean locker rooms that boast free personal care products + steam and sauna rooms.- affordable snack shack that serves sandwiches, salads, coffee, soda (including Fanta!!)- Friendly, helpful staff- Very family-friendlyAs I said before, this club is massive. In fact, it occupies two sides of Eureka Road. So make sure you park in the right parking lot.

Nice place to work out. Equipment is well maintained. Staff are nice. Family friendly club. They badly need to renovate the men's showers. For the rates that we're paying, prison style showers are completely unacceptable on the north side. Would it kill you to put a bar and shower curtains on the south side?

My kids love this place. The locker rooms could use updating, but overall I prefer this gym to others because of the casual family feel.

There's was a member of their staff that was not cordial at all to one of our friends. He was a member that hosted us, we paid as a guest, no receipt was given even when asked. Our host was a different ethnicity which he no longer goes there due to this person. Everyone else there was fantastic except for one lady which if you have certain points of view interacting with the public should not be part of it. We were considering joining due to how many times we were starting to go. The club does have a lot of amenities but given the counter help we scrapped the idea.

So I started at this gym approximately 6 months ago, and all was well it's a fairly clean gym, the locker rooms have a odor, and for the amount that's charged it's just average at best. Well fast forward to now and I'll explain my situation, I travel back and forth from Texas to Cali every month and sometimes for 2 weeks at a time, and when I'm there I use the facility 3-4 times a week. So safe to say at the $600+ I've spent I have more than paid my fair share. Well my work assignment ended and I'm no longer traveling back to Cali I found this out around the begin to middle of sept and found out I'd have one more trip so I would just cancel my membership then and that would be it.. no that wasn't it, I was told I needed to cancel by the 15th and that the local location could waive my next months due, but that it may get kicked back at corporate. I thought that was a bit unfair because it was never explained that I needed to cancel by the 15th; but I figured let's see what they'll due being they've been at this location forever and they seem like decent people running the business, boy was I let down, I have family members that go to this location and I will be urging them to take their business elsewhere as well. Good luck with your shotty business practices even in 2023 y'all still operating like "whelp sorry we can't do anything".

My dad takes me as a guest so I only go once or twice a month. Think of this club as your 1980's house. It's big. You have a few living rooms (tennis courts), but you only use the living rooms when you throw a party (tennis event). So during the weekdays the tennis courts (living rooms) are basically unused. I think that's why my dad pay a good amount for monthly fee, basically for the courts (land) when they have events. All the other days it's pretty dead. Well that's how he explains it to me. I wish they turn some of the unused tennis courts for something else. I wish they update the locker room as well. After swimming or playing tennis the last thing I want to do is shower with my dad... ugh. It's an open shower. There is a steam room and sauna in the locker room. The locker room floor is kind of dated, bring slippers if you're going to shower. The clientele is mainly older people from what I see. Everyone is friendly. There is another gym like a block away. My dad said there is a basketball court there and a cleaner swimming pool, but it's basically a day care center (lots of kids). So I am assuming this club is for adults and the other is for kids. You can go to both gyms.
