I had a fantastic experience at this Hawaiian BBQ spot in West Sacramento. The service was top-notch, with a very friendly atmosphere. This was my second visit, and I decided to try their Ramen for the first time. It was packed with flavor. I also tried their boba, which was decent. My friend opted for the bbq short ribs and the portions were Huge! Good macaroni salad too.

I was craving Hawaiian food and found JJ's. Phone ordering was easy and it was ready once I got there (about 10 minutes). I was greeted promptly & the inside was very welcoming. I got the chicken Katsu with rice and Mac salad and an order of the Spam Masubi. Chicken Katsu was good & they gave a really big portion but it some pieces were too thin of chicken and it was cold. I will give it another try & hopefully get some thicker fresher pieces. Overall 7/10 Spam Masubi could have more sauce but it was good. Overall 8/10

AWARENESS:January 2025, I was back and staying in the West Sacto area again and, I wanted to try something new and different. JJ's Looked good and had great reviews so, here's what its looking like.NARRATIVE:My wife and I stayed in the West Sacramento area back in January to visit our daughter and of course when my daughter showed up, she was carrying a car load of her friends who were hungry. After pulling out the Yelp app and finding JJ's Hawaiian BBQ close by, it was agreed this would be dinner for tonight. The great thing about my daughter bringing her friends actually worked out great because, everyone wanted something different to eat. Meaning, since I was buying, I got to sample their goods before them.** Food items purchased **Salmon Sushi Burrito ****Garlic Shrimp ****Combination Udon Soup ***Pot Stickers **Moco Loco, eggs over medium ****Spam Musubi ***Vegetable Egg Rolls **Garlic Noodles *****Chicken Katsu ***Deep Fried Spam ******* Good but very average*** Good and tasty but again, average**** Great tasting. Done to perfection!***** I would drive an hour to eat this again!! SCENE:JJ's Hawaiian BBQ is located right off of W Capitol Avenue and Walnut Street in the West Sacramento area.EVIDENCE:Reviews speak for themselves.RECOMMENDATION(S):When I'm back in the West Sacto area, I WILL be back I highly recommend giving this establishment some of your time.

Ambiance = 3. Not a fan of the elevator music. Not much to see here but I'm ok with it IF the food is good. Service = 5 excellent service. Lady was nice and the food came out quick.Food = 3 I got the chicken combo and JJs give you a heavy amount of food but the Mac salad was bland the chicken was dry. The sauce tasted like it was store bought. If you have ever been to Zippys or Rainbows n Hawaii consider yourself spoiled. I really wanted to like this place but the food is far from Hawaiian BBQ

West Sacramento got a new restaurant and it's pretty damn good! Their ramen stood out for me and with the cold weather coming I'll most definitely be doing that again soon. Their chicken katsu was crispy, the bbq chicken had a great marinade and each bite was juicy. The macaroni salad was lacking a bit in ingredients, I prefer the one at L&L Hawaiin bbq but I'm not opposed to JJ's. The garlic noodles were something I had to try as it has become a favorite dish of mine. JJ's did not disappoint! The noodles had a great flavor. Plenty of garlic. Loved it.Service here was really good. The servers and cashiers were nice and friendly. The restaurant was clean. Parking here is car friendly. Glad to see West Sacramento has a restaurant that will bring in people and keep them coming back.

Online group order for pickup: Butter Garlic Shrimp, Avocado Smoothie, Spicy Garlic Fish, BBQ Chicken Combo, BBQ Beef Combo, Chicken Katsu Combo, BBQ Chicken and Crispy Shrimp Combo, and Chicken Mix Combo. Our person picking up said it was pretty busy at lunchtime (Friday).Default combos come with 2 scoops rice, 1 scoop mac, and mixed green salad. There were some special instructions for certain items in our order, but only one (all rice) was followed. I wouldn't really call it a mixed green salad, more like bed of cabbage? Hella meat though. I had the chicken mix combo which was BBQ Chicken and Chicken Katsu, and these styrofoam containers have no dividers! The 2 scoops rice and 1 scoop mac on on side, the BBQ chicken was the bottom layer and an entire piece of chicken katsu on the second layer, dang! In my photo you can barely see the BBQ chicken peeking out beneath the katsu. The katsu sauce flavor was good, and the teriyaki sauce ok, both were a bit thin/runny consistency though. The avocado shake was too foamy and not sweet, don't recommend. I'm curious about the spam musubi, ramen, poke and dumplings/wontons!

Had the chicken katsu, bbq beef and short rib combo. A large portion of food for $17.95. It also includes 2 scoops of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. Nice presentation on a wood dish. Real metal utensils when you dine in. The katsu was crispy on the outside while still juicy on the inside. The short rib was nice and tender without being too fatty. The bbq beef was tender as well, a bit sweeter than I would prefer. The macaroni salad was a bit creamier than I would prefer as well. But all in all, a very solid choice. Friendly staff. Restaurant is relatively new so it's modern and clean.

New Hawaiian barbecue place in West Sacramento. restaurant was pretty large and spacious and the staff were quick and nice.I ordered food online for pick up, however and I brought it home. The only other place we normally get Hawaiian barbecue from is a chain restaurant style so I ordered the fried fish plate and I would give it a 4/5 only because (maybe since it was to-go) my fish didn't stay crispy (although I don't live very far), it didn't come with any sort of dipping sauce, and I wasn't a huge fan of the mac salad, but it wasn't bad.My husband got the combination plate that had ribs and chicken and another type of beef and he also would give it a 4/5. he says the teriyaki sauce was good but he still likes the meat from the other chain restaurants better but it could just be because it's what he's used to.Definitely worth a try and I plan to go back and get a lot of other things because their menu had much more of a variety than any other chain restaurant so I am excited about that!

Huge portions! The plate alone is an easy 2 meals, maybe even 3. Subbed a scoop of rice for mac in mine.
