JCLee Studios - School of Sculpture

None of my talent would be complete without the guideance of the great Jim Lee. And to think, all I had to do was show up with an open mind. Most say; I can't even draw a stick figure...then you are the perfect blank canvas for this class. It's a community of like minded stick figures.

The class was a good Introduction to clay. My husband and I attended one of his weekend workshops. It was instructional. Jim does take the tool out of your hand and fix things that bothered him about our work without asking. He would also talk negatively about other artist which wasn't cool and at the time when Masks were being worn in most places no one wore them in his studio. He was also condescending about our work. They turned out looking pretty good but it was because he took over on many parts . We won't go back.

Jim is an outstanding sculptor and teacher. I have attended 3 of his workshops and am always amazed at how much information and guidance he is able to incorporate in 2 days. I highly recommend attending his workshops.

My wife surprised me and purchased a 3 day "torso" sculpting class for my birthday. I was nervous about attending because I have zero art experience and this is absolutely not in my wheelhouse. I really thought that I was going to bomb, wasting both time and money. However, with my wife's encouragement and support I pursued the class with very little hope of creating anything satisfying. Upon my arrival I met Jim Lee and about 10 or so fellow sculptors. Jim's approach to sculpting was straightforward and easy to follow. The more I worked the clay, the more confidence I felt. Jim was extremely helpful and answered all my questions along with helpful tips to guide me in my creation. By the end of day two I was shocked! I stared at my sculpture and couldn't believe that my hands sculpted this torso. I highly recommend this class to anyone. The photos included are my masterpiece:)
