No stars if I could , I placed my order through door dash for a pick up , and I am 100% positive I received reheated food. I got the 2 way combo that included red snapper and jumbo shrimp , there was only 4 shrimp in my combo , and the fish and shrimp was rubbery pretty much inedible, I was on my lunch break and in a rush so I didn't check until I got home , and I was immediately upset . The quality of this food is absolutely not worth the price tag or the hassle of driving this far . I paid $20 plus dollars for fish so dry and crunchy I almost dislocated my jaw trying to chew it , and almost chocked to death trying to swallow it , the best thing was my drink because it wasn't prepared by anyone who worked at this establishment, I will 100% never return here , yuck

Unfortunately, since the change in management and ownership, I can honestly say that the quality and taste of the food has changed drastically. However, the staff is always nice and accommodating and friendly most of the time, but unfortunately, I do not patronize this vendor as often as I have in the past because the quality and taste of the food has changed so much.

This is the first time I've been here in years. Service was friendly and fast. I ordered catfish nuggets and gumbo. The fish was lightly fried and tasted fresh. The small gumbo was a generous portion and served with rice as is traditional. Well seasoned and tasty. The only thing I didn't care for was the fries which were coated with something designed to make them crispy. This is similar to what Burger King used to do which proved unpopular. It is a personal preference that fries be plain potatoes fried twice for crispiness. JJ's is mostly a takeout shop, but they do have several tables with chairs for dine in. The ambience is bright, clean and fairly comfortable. I noted space for outdoor tables on the side of the building. There is no public restroom.

I order from here frequently because they discriminate against the people from the community that of Oak Park. They have in the past given us food that is old, mildewed and hard. I realize that African Americans have been discriminated against for many many moons so I took the initiative to see if the challenges that African Americans face have grew another head called progress. I ordered the 3 item plate with oysters, large shrimp and red snapper on it and it came with fries. The red snapper tasted old and seemed like it sat out at room temperature for a long period of time. The bread looked fine as I checked it but was hard and crusty. So I gave this business an opportunity to explain this debacle as I paid for a service (30 dollars) and didn't receive the appropriate service a restaurant shall offer to its clientele. The lady was rude and obnoxious stating,"The bread was toasted !" No maam I said,"My bread has never been toasted and I do know the difference between old and toasted!" She tried to cover up the fact the bread was old by saying it was toasted as I understand some restaurants toast their bread this was not the case.

neighborhood joint known for good fried chicken and good jumbo fried shrimp. more of like a take-out place. ask for hot sauce and tartar sauce to go!

People go there for the fried chicken, but me and my kids always enjoy the large shrimp catfish banana pudding with Nilla wafers in it. Great spot with some down home great tasting food.

The food that I got from the restaurant was pretty bad. The oysters and scallops were old and fishy and I couldn't eat them. I did find a curly black hair fried into one of the oysters. The red snapper was pretty okay. The collard greens were okay, but definitely just from a can. The hush puppies were actually pretty great, some of the best I've had. The Mac and cheese is horrendous, I honestly don't think they used cheese when I went. It was really tangy and funky tasting. Overall, I can only speak positively about the hush puppies, everything else I had was pretty bad. The food was made quick, the service was pretty nice and the man that took my order was generous and offered plenty of sauces with my meal. Cant recommend this place.

I like the ranch seasoning they use it puts JJ's above other chicken places for me. Yet they did not bother to put any on my last order and I specifically asked for extra. It also taste like they use the same oil for chicken and fish. I'd rather go some where that can follow SIMPLE directions and actually get what I pay for the way I ask for it.

The fish was dry and the shrimp had to be cooked in old grease bland in flavor and hard to swallow
