Classic Il Fornio... great food and especially great service! We've only been to this location multiple times and every time we are greeted with a smile and sat promptly. If you can, ask to sit in Whitney's section, you will not be disappointed. She will never steer you wrong. Her recommendations are always spot on! Whitney is great! Very witty and attentive. Recommendations: the bolognese, Linguine Mare Chiaro

Had reservations to dine here for my birthday (Friday at 5pm). I had arrived maybe 2-3 minutes before my reservation but had to wait a little under 10 minutes for table. I assumed since I had a reservation, there wouldn't be much of a wait and I'd also like to add that the restaurant had plenty of seating inside and outside so I was a little confused as to why we had to wait. I don't have too much to say about the service since it was just average at best.We ordered:Margarita Italiano: good but very strong, 4/5Calamaretti fritti: a little on the salty side but still good, 4/5Tagliatelle bolognese: best thing we ordered, 5/5Linguine mare chiaro: the pasta and sauce was good but some of the seafood didn't taste the freshest, 3/5Gelato (chocolate hazelnut): this was complimentary as it was my birthday and it was good, just like eating nutella ice cream, 4/5Tiramisu: average, 3/5I would like to visit again since I really liked their bolognese but I won't have high hopes regarding their service.

The five star review is for Scott behind the bar!! This fine gentleman is an expert at his craft, and provides incredible customer service. My husband and I have been coming here for years due to the fantastic treatment and wonderful drinks made by Scott. The only down side is the manager with the beard, seems to need a bit more training. He shows very little interest in customer service and goes through the motions. Thank you for the wonderful afternoon, Scott. You are the best!!

Yum yum yum! We celebrated our 2024 accomplishments and enjoyed a nice meal. The restaurant is gorgeous and very ample in space. We were seated by the bar and were a large party of 9. It wasn't too noisy and our waiter was very attentive. We started with appetizers which were delicious. We ordered 3 salads and shared them at the table. Everyone had a delicious dish. The one thing that was a bit of a drawback was that we had to ask for bread, oil and vinegar and later had to ask for butter. It would seem at an Italian restaurant they would have that as an automatic option.

Dined in on a Tuesday evening, with no reservations at 5pm. The restaurant was beautiful, and they have what seems to be an extensive wine list. They even have a list with pairing options and suggestions. Overall the service was ok, and the food was also not my favorite. The parking outside is street parking, further examination is that someone ripped out all of the coin holders so the only way to pay is by the app or card. We had a long drive back to the Bay Area so we wanted to get something to eat before hitting the road. I ordered the calamari and the gnocchi appetizer as my meal and my boyfriend got the scallops over rice. The calamari was ok, it came with a lemon and spicy marinara. I didn't think the calamari was crispy, such a bummer because I was craving calamari! The gnocchi in the mushroom truffle cream sauce was also ok, a little underwhelming and I couldn't taste much of the truffle. The entree my bf got was as seared scallop and prawn over risotto which was just black rice with a lobster cream sauce. My boyfriend said the scallops weren't seared to his liking and the rice was crunchy almost undercooked. He ate the protein and left the rice. We both left hungry and down $100 :(

Il Forniao is my favorite Italian restaurant. I actually stopped by for their giftcard offer to take advantage of the $20 bonus card. An additional promotion was offering the $100 card for $85. That's a great deal. While I was there, I decided to have the happy hour calamari. It is the best calamari I've had. It's so lightly battered that you can taste the flavor of the calamari, which is crispy, yet tender. The marinara sauce is also delicious, and has the best flavor, light but rich. They validate parking for 2 hours in the Wells Fargo building, which is where the restaurant is located. The ambiance is beautiful, and a perfect place for special occasions or a date.

Il Fornaio is one of our favorite places to have dinner around the holidays. They decorate beautifully for Christmas (ground floor of the Wells Fargo building) and the vibes are always right. We've come for birthdays and anniversaries as well as other life milestones. We've often enjoyed the cocktails (sitting at the bar while waiting for our table to be ready) and always are satisfied with our meals. This may not be the newest or flashiest upscale Italian in Sacramento anymore, but it's traditional and reliable.4 stars because parking is always a little bit of a hassle and the service can be hit or miss depending on how busy of a time it is. Sometimes we've had a little bit of a hard time flagging down the bartender or waiter, especially when there are multiple large parties dining. This place is great for large groups and they definitely have lots of them around the holidays!

I took my dad here for a dinner before the sac orchestra performance and I'm so glad we tried it! We've eaten at Il Fornaio in Walnut Creek and Carmel so we knew the food would be great, but the interior of the restaurant was beautiful!! We weren't expecting it to be such a beautiful old interior. We started with a charcuterie board which was a special appetizer that night. It was good, ur I will say, I would have ordered something else because I can put together my own charcuterie board (and I did 4 days later). But my dad really wanted this app so we got it. Nothing really stood out for me, but it was a solid charcuterie spread.I had an espresso martini and it was great! My dad had an old fashioned and he really enjoyed that as well. For our entrees we loved our food! My scallops and shrimp came with an AMAZING sauce. Oh man it was delectable. 9.5/10, maybe 10/10My dad had the seafood pasta and he said it was delicious as well.We got some tiramisu, and it was sooooo good but we were so full we couldn't finish it! It was the second best tiramisu I've had outside of Italy. My dad's cappuccino could definitely do with a different look. But he said it tasted fine. The service was great. And we were so surprised by how full it was so early on. We had a reservation for 5, super early, but by 5:30, the restaurant seemed to be pretty full, and by 6 it was fully packed.

Everything is marvelous with this restaurant the only thing was that finding the parking lot was a little confusing especially on a Kings game night. But from the minute you walk into the space everything is brightly lit up and the hostess is there to greet you. Their bread - served warm- with vinegar and olive oil was delicous and the minute i ate that I knew the meal was going to be great. I forgot to take a picture of the appetizers but their shrimp skewer plump and perfectly seasoned. I also go to try the pesto pasta which was amazing. For my entree I got the fillet which was ccooked perfectly and the wine sauce was a perfect compliment. Also for dessert I got to try the cheesecake which was so good I couldn't stop myself even though I was so full! Can't wait to go back!
