The bar, restaurant and store are amazing. Great place to bring your RV. Great place to stay before going on Jeepers Jamboree.

Went camping at ice house and needed to go to the store to get ice and some other things. Who ever hired the little girl to run the store was a big mistake. She had no manners and was EXTREMELY RUDE. I spent over 100 dollars which on stuff that was extremely over priced. As I had to make a few trips back and forth to my car. I finally asked for bag. The rude girl said 10 cents. I said well I just spent over 100 bucks I think you can spare a bag. She threw the bag on the counter and walked away. This little girl needs to be fired or learn how to customer service people. After I finished loading my car I went back and threw a dime on the counter so they wont be short 10 cents. Lol. Please train your employees to have respect. I do go to ice house alot and I would hate for your store to have a bad reputation.

Stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday - service is amazingly friendly. Order came up super fast and food was great. Justine, Kristen, and Julie rock it. Love it here -- we'll be back!

Ok.... It's a little overpriced, old, with two people serving the whole place. The store only accepts cash... If you use your card (debit not accepted) minimum is $20... So if you're camping anyway just go prepared. The bar is obnoxiously loud. My food has taken 30 mins... Still waiting.... It's the only place to get anything from if your camping in the El Dorado forest.... No dinner menu only breakfast and lunch... Ask the server though as they may have something in store.... Nothing great... Nothing special... Just warm food... As the folks next to me say .... It's a lunch and a lunch.... No dinner no steak... For the record I ordered a schnitzel... 35 mins still waiting...

We arrived in the Crystal Basin region on a Friday morning, hoping to score a site in Camino Cove. Everything was taken, so we spent another fruitless two hours checking out campsites within 15 miles. Finally, it was obvious that our only two choices was either a really primitive camping site or a $22 campsite here.I took a look at the campsites, hopeful.Suffice it to say that I would rather pee and shit in the woods at a primitive camping site in the middle of nowhere than pay to camp here.

I have visited the Ice House Resort many times, the service was great! Friendly people in the bar, in the cafe, in the store, and at the campgrounds. They tend to get very busy and sometimes don't have the time to hang out and chit chat, but they sure are awesome with the time you do get with them. We'll continue to stop at the Resort every time we are in the Crystal Basin Recreation Area.

Years ago I took a summer job at a pack station/rustic resort up in Trinity County. This place has the same vibe as the old Trinity Alps Resort. Recently we reconned the crystal basin the week before, had stopped at the store for a drink and snacks, and found the place quite suitable to our needs. We just returned from two days trailering at the Ice House Resort, and found the management to be more helpful than I can say. Yes, the store isn't much, but it has what you'll need. Yes it's a little rustic,, but that's part of the char, Yes, being the off season, they're they're not overstaffed, but they'll do what they can to be helpful. Yes, there are things that could be fixed, but this is snow country where stuff breaks under snow loads. This is certainly not a high end resort, but we loved our stay there, and we look forward to going back again, and soon.

You have to understand what you're getting by doing business with this place. First, if you're up in the Crystal Basin and you didn't go fully prepared then that's your fault. BUT, lucky for you, there's this little store and the attached restaurant/bar that might have what you need to bail you out. Yes, obviously you're going to pay more than you would at Walmart in Sacramento, but so what? That's just how the world works, welcome to it. If you're out in the middle of the forest and want a beer, stop by the bar. Need a 6 pack? Grab one at the store. If you're expecting low prices and a vast selection of everything, then you're just not being realistic and you'll be disappointed. If you want to save a bunch of time and gas and avoid the trip all the way down to Pollock Pines then this place is perfect for that.

We were camping in El Dorado and decided to get a couple snacks down at Ice House Resort Store. Keep in mind that everything is overpriced because it is in the middle of the forest. We tried to return an item because we didn't want to pay $18 for a bag of small jerky, and we were met with a poor temper on the part of the store clerk's. We were blamed for "not checking the SKU number" when there weren't any prices marked in the first place. Wish we got better service for how politely we brought up returning the item.
