One of the legit bbq place in the area. We went there 2 times around 3:30pm and they sold out both times. We finally came around 12pm on Saturday and went in with no line up! There are several indoor tables and few patio tables but it got busy quickly. When we left around 1pm, the line was out the door.We ordered The Hangtown Sampler with brisket, baby back ribs, St. Louis ribs and sides (mac & cheese, coleslaw & pinto beans). We sat at the patio and the friendly server brought out our food in about 5 mins after we ordered. The staffs checked on us several times and were super friendly.

When my wife and I are deciding on a vacation town we need to find a few things. A spooky spot to visit, a trail to hike, and great BBQ! Once we saw pics of Hog Wild the decision was easy! My wife went for brisket, I went for the Pit Assassin sandwich. Food was amazing, the sides were killer. Service was great, and we got a great tip on making a variation on an Arnold Palmer. The vibe is completed by BBQ decorations around the restaurant. Can't wait to visit again!

As a National Master BBQ Judge I'm often asked, "where is the best barbecue joint". My reply usually asks, "what is it you're looking for"? I ask this because most BBQ restaurants only do one or two things well. What makes Hog Wild different is that they do it ALL well! From chicken to brisket, "it's all good here"! I usually pick up a jar of their "House Rub" for when I cook my own ribs at home.Being a competition Judge means traveling the county attending the top competitions and trying new barbecue restaurants, as well as some of my favorite "joints" along the way. I've eaten at Hog Wild easily over 20 times as I often pass through Placerville on my way to the airport. The only time I'm disappointed is when they are closed...which is not often!

Just like everyone else, I saw they had made a national Yelp list and decided to check them out! We got there about an hour after opening, and it was a full house! They have you order at the counter and then deliver to your table. They offer seating inside and out, which is great depending on your mood and the weather. We opted for the family-style Hangtown Sampler (3 meat choices/3 sides, feeds two). We got the pulled pork, brisket, and spare ribs on recommendation from the staff as it was about to sell out! So glad we did--everything was packed with flavor! The pulled pork was tender and juicy, the brisket had a perfect smoky taste, and the spare ribs were down to the bone good. The sides were just as impressive. We had the mac 'n cheese, mashed potatoes, and green beans. The mac 'n cheese was creamy and cheesy, the green beans were fresh and crunchy, and the mashed potatoes were nice and creamy. Fun fact: HW BBQ donates a meal to a person in need through the local food banks of El Dorado County for every family-style meal purchased! It feels great knowing that enjoying a delicious meal also helps the community. The staff was super friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and we can't wait to go back and try more from their menu. If you're in the area, definitely give this place a try--you won't be disappointed!

This place has been on my list ever since I saw it was one of the top BBQ spots in the nation from Yelp's list! Me and my friend went after we went Apple Hill picking, so it was perfect that it was on the way back home. I ordered the 1 meat and two sides and got the cornbread muffin and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were super creamy and I enjoyed the gravy; not used to white gravy! My brisket was very pull-apart tender, and I tried all of their BBQ sauce options; the spicy one was my favorite! Come early, as this place gets packed VERY quickly!

Line was pretty busy. Waited to get in. Parking is small. Customer service is great. Props to them for not being stingy. Other bbq places up charge for "premium meat" in the 3 meat combo plate. Usually ribs and brisket are considered premium. I had the baby back. St. Louis. Brisket. Sides are cornbread and slaw. Brisket was extremely tender. Was able to cut with just the fork. Ribs were mostly tender and juicy. Slaw was good. Bread was good. My biggest con was that it was underseasoned. Didn't taste salt or black pepper. The ribs has a hint of sweetness. I'm guessing they use mesquite wood? But bbq sauce helped fix that. All in all it was good.

Placerville, California meets New Braunfels, Texas at Hog Wild Bar-B-Que, where the motto is, "Bringing you a little taste of Texas."As you enter the restaurant, you'll be meeted and greeted by a friendly staff member, who will take your order, and make you feel at home. Note the many vintage Texas license plates which decorate the order counter.The restaurant operates on what I label as the "taqueria format," in that the menu is posted above the counter, and you choose your selection from the overhead menu. You make your selection, pay for it, and in return, you'll receive a "name" or a "number..." and then you seat yourself at any open table, or a seat at the counter.When your order is ready, it will be brought to you with a smile by one of the friendly staff members. From the "3 Meat Plate" page of the menu, I went with brisket, chicken and sausage for my protein. My sides were potato salad and mashed potatoes and gravy, which worked out to be an amazing Sunday lunch."Tender Beef Brisket," as listed on the menu was exactly as described by the menu: Tender. I'm talking about fork tender, juicy and simply amazingly delicious. Brisket is usually served chopped, but the beef brisket I enjoyed today was sliced, and it was so tender that a knife wasn't needed. It's been a long time west of Waco since I've enjoyed such an amazing side of brisket!Ditto for the chicken breast, as it was juicy, fork tender and simply delicious. Think of this... dipping small pieces of chicken breast into the mashed potatoes and gravy.The sausage was a large - quarter pound - beef sausage stuffed with Cheddar cheese and jalapeño pepper slices, which made for an amazing, Texas style sausage. Close your eyes, and imagine you're in New Braunfels, in the Texas hill country... wake up and realize you're in Placerville. Just like in Austin, or anywhere in Texas, the barbecue sauce was served on the side, and made a perfect dip for the meat, along with the delicious sides.Rounding off the meal was a freshly-baked bun, along with a pat of butter. Yowza!!!Texas comes to Placerville... yes it does at Hog Wild Bar-B-Que, as my delicious lunch simply reminded me back to the wide-open, miles and miles of Texas. The meats were simply... can I say... Texas? ... and the sides were amazing and added to the meal. For barbecue lovers, or for anyone who appreciates a fine meal, this is FIVE STAR DINING!

Went to Apple Hill then Pine O Mine Ranch for BBQ, apparently they don't do BBQ on Fridays. A friend recommended this place.AmbianceOlder establishment with outdoor seating. Nice indoor seating very clean.Customer ServiceOlder gentleman took our order, I would guess the owner or manager. He was very polite. Over was not bad here, good but wasn't out of this world for me. Really didn't know guy fiery was a feature. We so happened to be in the area after going to costco from Jackson.Service is phenomenal, watching staff accommodate people, clean up immediately was awesome to see. Since it's also a small area inside to sit there is also an outside patio. But being end of summer it's still warm out.Brisket was ok, I prefer little more smokey. Was a bit dry and under seasoned. The green beans were way more seasoned imo.Ribs was pretty good. Never have ribs like this with a sugary glaze top. Ribs were mostly all of our favorite of the meats.Cornbread was thick dense and heavy. We ended up sharing and taking the rest back.
