Food: I think most people come here thinking Thai, but this is very much also a Lao spot. For as many greasy Thai spots there are here, this place is super delicious, and why I have it the 5 star. For lack of a better word, the food feels super clean and tasty. They have a great assortment of spices and sauces to adjust the heat level and taste of your food. I've had the pad thai, drunken noodles, and some curries here and I've always enjoyed them. This last time, I tried a Laotian dish - Mee Kati. This was super tasty dish where you had hot broth do this delicious concoction of noodles, veggies, herbs, and meat, and then mix. The fresh rolls were killer. I was pretty meh on the chicken wings. A little too much breading without a lot of flavor. Service: Super friendly and attentive. No concerns here at all. Ambiance - I think this place is super cute. It has great lighting and is has a very gentle/serene vibe. It's 100% a nice date spot (minus the fact that there aren't too many spots in walking distance and in questionable area)

New Thai restaurant downtown.Street parking only. The Thai Green and Ice Tea were huge and good. The lobster Pad Thai was a bit overrated. I only ordered it after watching a Reel on Facebook. The crispy chicken skin and pork bowl were both 10 out of 10. The steak wasn't bad but, there was a huge piece of fat, which is probably what kept it tender and juicy. Duck lamb was pretty good.

I was introduced to this place by a family member who goes here almost every week, and it lived up to my expectations! The atmosphere was cozy, with dim lighting and comfortable seats. The green curry (mild spice) had a lot of depth and a good spice to it. There were a lot of veggies inside, like bamboo shoots and eggplant. The consistency is more liquid-y compared to other green curries I've tried but I would still recommend. I also enjoyed the Pad See Ew dish but would get mild spice next time. I recommend trying the green thai tea if you like jasmine tea. The staff was accommodating and the food came out fast.

Walking in, it was super packed. It's a really tiny place that maybe first at most 20 people. I had a party of 4 and upon walking in, we were not greeted. The waitress/host didn't acknowledge us or let us know it would be a minute to be seater. It took maybe about 15 mins to be seated. We knew it was busy, but it would have been nice for the waitress to just let us know how long it would be to be seated. We had ordered a few items. We got the mango curry, tum khao poon, pad Thai, Lao sausage and truffle fries. Everything was spot on! Delicious and full of flavor. When we asked for some of our dishes to be SPICY, they definitely came through with it! The portions could have been a little more for what we're paying for. Total amount with 4 alcoholic beverages, the bill was about $150. Overall, the food is a must try. I would have given the place 5 stars, but I felt the service was lacking. They never came back to ask if we needed water (considering we were eating some spicy food ) or come to see if we needed anything else. Walking in, we kind of guessed the service was going to be a little off. Since we didn't get noticed as we walked in.Overall, I had a good experience.

Wonderful Thai food. My friend and I came here for dinner since we were around the area after working at a cafe. Extremely organized and clean environment. Service was quick and proceeded to help us figure out the menu and offered recommendations. I appreciated this gesture. The food was YUM. I got the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken noodles) and my friend got the Tom Yum soup. Drunken noodles was by far one of the best ones I've had in Sacramento. The noodles were bouncy and coupled with a wonderful spice it that wasn't overwhelming the dish. Vegetables and the meat of your choice (I chose chicken) paired very well with the noodles.Highly recommend checking this spot out! I'll probably add on a thai iced tea next time since I saw a table next to me and that looked quite yummy as well haha.

First impressions on our first visit: -location looks tiny from the exterior-first smell to hit us upon entering was not the delicious smell of food, but... very strong cleaning products...-the interior was cute and clean-hostess greeted and seated us quickly As far as the food goes:-I love me some fresh shrimp rolls with pb sauce so we placed an order for those. The ingredients were fresh and crispy, but there was too much fluff (greens) and not enough shrimp. Maybe adding just 1 more shrimp per roll would take it up a notch. -I ordered my curry mild, but it was still very spicy and overpowering to my palate. -My husband enjoyed his pho. Would I come back? Probably not. This location is too far from where I live to go out of the way for. However, if YOU happen to be in the area - go for it! Perhaps we just visited on an off night (a Tuesday, to be exact).

Love it! Hiso is a fantastic addition to the Sacramento area for authentic Lao and Thai food. It's not located directly downtown but on the outskirts, depending on where you're coming from. After reading several positive Yelp reviews, we decided to give it a try and made the trip just to experience the food for myself.Parking is limited to street parking, so we had to park around the corner and walk to the restaurant. Once we stepped inside, we were greeted with beautifully curated Southeast Asian decor. The space felt very welcoming and aesthetically pleasing, with one standout feature being a map of Laos spotlighted on the wall in the waiting area. I loved that touch, it really added to the charm and authenticity of the Lao & Thai vibes.Although it wasn't very busy during dinner time, we still had to wait a bit to be seated. Our waitress was friendly. For dinner, we ordered the truffle fries as an appetizer, followed by the chicken pad Thai (medium heat), Lao-style steak, and noodle soup kao piek. * Truffle Fries: A great starter, perfectly crisp and flavorful. * Chicken Pad Thai: The flavor was spot on saucy, sweet, sour, and the perfect level of medium heat. I couldn't get enough! So good! * Lao-Style Steak: A good portion size but on the pricier side for $35. The cut of steak was fattier than I expected, which was a bit disappointing. * Noodle Soup Kao Piek: The broth was rich and flavorful, but for my personal taste, the white pepper was a little overpowering and overshadowed the other flavors. While the food was delicious overall, one improvement I'd suggest is for them to check their tables. The table we were seated at was uneven and kept tilting back and forth, which was distracting while trying to enjoy the meal. I also liked the upholstered seating against the wall. Despite that minor issue, Hiso delivered on flavor and ambiance, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Lao and Thai cuisine in Sacramento. I'll definitely be back to try more dishes when I am in the area.

I'm so greatful for them being open until 10pm. I left work early to have dinner with my hubby and they happily accommodated us within the remaining hour. Service was quick and food was amazing. Everything looked and tasted delicious. We also learned that there's two types of Khao Soy, Lao & Thai. I chose Thai and it's rich in a cream curry sauce. We sat by the window and loved the restaurant's vibe. It was such a lovely way to end the evening.

Like a lot of midtown/downtown restaurants, the portion to price ratio isn't the best.Street parking.Service was average. Even though they weren't busy, we were standing around and waiting to get seated for a while. It also took them a long time to check on our order. After our dishes were brought out, they did check in a couple times though.Food-wise, everything tasted good and had a lot of flavor. We tried the following dishes: Fresh Roll, Butter Shiitake Mushroom, Tom Yum, Tom Kha, Mango Curry, Pad Thai, and Basil Fried Rice. Surprisingly, I preferred the Tom Yum over the Tom Kha. The Tom Yum was more flavorful, and the coconut flavor wasn't as present as l like it to be in Tom Kha. I really enjoyed the Fresh Rolls. The peanut sauce was one of the best I've had. To drink, I tried the Green Thai Tea. This was not the drink for me. It was so overly sweet; I had a hard time getting it down. For dessert, l had the Mango Sticky Rice. l've never had a bad Mango Sticky Rice from anywhere, and here was not an exception.Overall, a nice, quiet & small place to grab a bite if you don't feel like consuming huge portions (or don't mind ordering a lot of dishes that will likely add up in the end).

11/10!! Hiso hosted my party of 40 for a private event and it was the most amazing experience ever!! Annie and Elise, the owners, were so accommodating, sweet, and welcoming and we are so grateful to them for everything! AND the food was DELICIOUS! 10/10! We tried so many menu items, from the perfectly crispy chicken skin to the best pad see ew and pad thai, to yellow curry and so much more. They were even kind enough to give us dessert and drinks on the house! Everything was so delicious and authentic. We were all fighting for leftovers
