After moving back home to North Highlands, after being gone for 35 years, one tends not to know where to go for things or even recognize where you grew up.But one thing was consistent when I asked about where is good to eat close by; Highland Chinese Restaurant was always mentioned.The location was small and quaint. But the food, was big in flavor and the portions, HUGE!The Lady who took my order, was very friendly and super sweet. I felt like even though this was my first time, I was treated like a long time family friend. She even checked on me while I sat and asked if she could get me something to drink while I waited.In today's day an age, of almost being ignored in most restaurants, this was huge for me and made me smile.Now I am going to show you some pictures, and just know that it is hard to see exactly how large the portion was. But I am not complaining one bit.Most of the time when we eat out, we look at the portion and say; "Really? Is that it?"But this place, well, let's just say that I said "Holy Cr*p!" with each container I opened. :)While North Highlands, isn't really a destination most think of traveling to in order to specifically dine, I would say that if you find yourself at Elkhorn and Walerga then Highland Chinese is a must.I love this place and will be back soon.

Food portions were good, ordered family style for 4. Everything we ordered was good, my 7 year old said "the Chef knows what he's doing" LOL I agree.

This is my go to favorite place in this area, always polite and happy when my fam comes here. The food is awesome, and really affordable. I love the Honey Garlic Spare Ribs and the Salt and Pepper Shrimp. They also have some Bomb Shrimp Egg Foo Young and Pot Stickers!!! Come try this place, it's FIRE!!!!!!

Wife and I enjoy having our meals there they are great people. Their food is amazing. Service is wonderful.

My family has been enjoying the delicious food here for over 20 years! Highly recommended! Good sized portions and never any issues with our orders as lately we only do takeout.

I messed up, food was so good I didn't have time to take pictures. Has sitting inside but I normally pick up. Owner is really nice, they have amazing sauces they make in-house, do not forget this! Orange chicken is authentic and my favorite, also I strongly recommend and I mean strongly... recommend their shrimps

We decided to pop by for dinner around 5:45 and it was fairly on the slower side but I did hear they had a lot of to go orders. The owner and only waitress was very friendly and helpful in choosing what to eat from the vast menu. We ended up settling on the po po plate for an appetizer which consisted of a little bit of everything, Mongolian beef with pork chow mein and shrimp with scrambled egg on rice. Overall food was a solid 8/10, really good but a little on the greasy side.. a side note here the portions are big so come hungry. The interior decor was exactly what you would expect, I really loved the centerpiece - you don't see that super often. Overall we liked everything and the prices were completely fair. We'd recommend and return.

Had just had a terrible experience at another restaurant but was still craving Chinese food . We found this restaurant and it was a totally different and amazing experience from the prior. The woman of the restaurant was so vibrant and so nice , it seemed like a one woman show because she was doing it all lol taking orders , bringing food out , complimenting my children , being patient, helping incoming and outgoing customers, I mean she was "moving" and she did it all with a smile . We ordered the BBQ chow mein, lemon chicken and egg rolls. The food came out promptly and hot. As a mom of a very picky autistic son, my son actually loved all of the items as well as my daughter and I . Very fresh and delicious food with great portion sizes and prices . Good customer service is hard to find but amazing has become so rare and it and the food was totally amazing ! We will definitely be back !

We ordered sweet & sour pork, house special fried rice, chow mein & hot and sour soup. So far so good, not wow, not bland but not the greatest too. I've tasted better chow meins but if you want a quick chinese food fix then this is the place for you. The neighbourhood is just kinda sketchy but its not too far from our place so we decided to give it a try.
