Helwig Vineyards and Winery

Helwig was the last stop for us in Amador County. I read the reviews on this place and will say I have to agree with most of it; good, bad or otherwise. Here is my story:Yes, the place seems "weird" and the employees are in a world all their own. But the flip side is they are a great winery and they have some decent wines for a decent price.They are also helpful if you're looking for a weekend getaway. Pick your weekends wisely. Check on their entertainment schedule. You might be able to kill two birds with one stone's throw. Their property hosts some decent bands and they also have food trucks and stuff. So, weird or no, go check them out! By the way their production might not be large enough for retail distribution so another reason to stop in

Strike 2. This place is so weird with their service. Never again!!!! Good wine. But every time I come here, they're weird about the service.Got food and it was terrible with bones in it.

This place is great each time I have been! The customer service is nice, friendly, and quick. They also have a great ambiance in the tasting room! I enjoyed just about all of their reds. In addition, the food from the kitchen is amazing. Shay was the pourer who helped us and she made my Valentine's Day date that much better! Thank you all again!

Decided to try out some new wineries on Labor Day with the family. We walked in, immediately greeted and set up for our tasting inside. The gentleman who started us was very friendly, super knowledgeable (always had a great dish recommendation for each wine) and told us about all of their events held at the amphitheater & The Cave. We were also able to taste 4 extra wines now on the Labor Day list. We ventured off to the kitchen for a snack and the onion rings were fantastic. My dad said "best I've probably ever had." So crispy!! This place has a beautiful venue. Wish I ventured down to see the amphitheater but the pictures on the brochure look awesome. Will have to come back for an event soon!

Phenomenal!!!! I should have joined the club here haha Beautiful beautiful venue. We considered having a wedding here - that's how pretty. Our bartender was very pleasant and informative. We walked away with two bottles and a warm heart. The view in the back of the winery is just amazing. I would recommend this place and of course a reservation because it's popular. They also serve food which is a huge plus.

We had the Dave burger, fries and onion rings. The fries are outstanding. The Dave burger has a bacon onion jam that is sweet and delicious. The burger was juicy and really a good bite. The bun was fresh and yummy too. The only thing we didn't like was that the winery doesn't allow you to do a wine tasting and order food at the same time. In order to do the tasting you must be inside the tasting room where good I not allowed. In order to have their food, you need to eat outside or in a small dining room on another building. You can purchase a glass or bottle of wine to take eith you and have while eating. The outside views are lovely but very cold in winter.

Been a member for years! We always enjoy our anniversary here. Today is 13 years married!

I've been here twice and have had rude CS both times. Why promote that you have food and tell us the kitchen closes in 5 minutes then when we come back with food you tell us we can't do a tasting? Only glasses or bottles if you have food? No explanation. It's just a weird vibe.

Bohemian Queen concert was our favorite yet! Would definitely see them again.The food this time was sub-par.Tasteless and no one in our group enjoyed it this time.We missed the ice cream truck this time as well. What about concert tickets that don't include dinner??Having said this, it was a fun experience and we would go again.

Amazingly delicious sandwich with gracious and attentive service. Highly recommend having a meal and enjoying the outdoor views! Relax in beauty here
