This place was so much funWe came here for my husband's 30th birthday and it was our first time trying hot pot. They were so nice and let us try all the different broths and really walked up through everything to help us understand the process. The waiter was so SO nice and hilarious. He comped a couple of our drinks for a birthday gift!! This is a great place for a group setting. You can try and bit of everything and mix and match. Will definitely be coming back!

The food here is heavenly, the service is superb, and the vibes are homey, comfortable, and a pleasant experience when dining in. I only go to two hotpot places because they're in my area and because everything is already amazing, I have not yet felt the need to travel further, Heat Shabu Fair Oaks is one of my two go-to hotpot places.I have frequented this location for about 2 years and happened to go on a Monday - which is when I found out that Mondays are when they offer AYCE [most] appetizers at no extra charge! The base AYCE option is now about $40, which is quite a great bang for your buck, so this is the option I always go for. But I strictly come on a Monday ever since my first visit.I've been here alone, with just one friend, and also with larger parties. It is more costly for me with larger parties because we can't resist ordering some soju or Sapporo but for the entire experience, it is truly worth it (It was about $80 per person last time I went, including drinks + tax + 20% tip (not included) for a party of 6). I've been easily seated when I arrived solo during their opening hour (16:30) but when I go with a friend or party, I always make a reservation in advance since it seems busier later in the evening and there's not much of a waiting area. The parking lot is small, tight spaces, and cramped so it may be challenging to maneuver in if you aren't great at parking or have a larger car.. so I'd advise arriving early to find parking if you book a reservation, since there's about a 15 min late grace period and the entire party needs to be present before seating. You can pick from two broths per hotpot with about 6 options (tom yum, BBH [Bun Bo Hue], Miso, Spicy Miso, Tonkatsu, and Spicy Tonkatsu). They're all delicious but a common favorite amongst my variety of friends is the Tom Yum, so I definitely recommend trying that one out.You start with 3 meat selections (I like the lamb which may be too gamey for some, so I would recommend trying out the Kobe Beef and Angus Ribeye). You can select a couple of the other toppings as well (we love the fishballs, mussels, and quail eggs). This is also when we input our AYCE Monday appetizer orders (popular favorites for us are the Kobe beef sashimi, the albacore sashimi, and the grilled mussels). They offer ramen and veggies, and they do offer udon at this location now but I have yet to try it. They do *not* offer vermicelli noodles sadly but you are welcome to bring your own. They provide at least 2 dipping sauces for the meat but I'd highly recommend the peanut (if you're not allergic) sauce - it reminds me of Thai peanut panang curry, but not spicy and just the right amount of consistency (not too thick or too watery), so perfect for dipping your meats. If you do like spicy, we have been offered a Habanero chili oil as well. The servers usually stop by the tables a fair amount. Our last server was spectacular - she was prompt and accurate with orders and picking up used/empty plates and would know when we would want to double the order with the frequency of our orders (i.e. 2x appetizers or 2x quail eggs). Of course, to top it off, she provided us with complimentary green tea ice cream that totally hits the spot after a satisfying meal.My last two visits, we stayed for 1.5-2 hours until closing from the time of our reservation, and usually end up chatting outside in the cool night weather after our stomachs have been warmed up and we're digesting all of the delicious food. There's just something about a good hotpot place that brings everyone together for a good meal and a good time - just creating fond memories. This is one of those hotpot places. Highly recommend.

What can I say. I love hotpot. This place service is 100%. I've been here serval times and the food never misses. One of best finds for all you can eat (AYCE) around. Great happy hour and daily specials with all you can eat apps on Tuesday's. I often take friends here when they are in town.

I can't believe I haven't yelped this place yet! I know one of the owners that recommended me this place. My fiance and I have been going to this place for years now. We used to go like once a month. Now we try to go once every few months. I always make reservations so I don't have to wait for too long, but usually it's not that long of a wait. We always get the BBH broth and spicy miso. It's our favorite! We usually get the kobe beef and ribeye prime. The staff is nice and everyone is attentive. Definitely give this place 5 stars!

Clean, fast service and the food is delicious! My only complaint is that soup and salad weren't offered. But that's not enough to keep me from returning!

This area is in a small plaza next to some iconic stores like the plaza ice cream puffs and temple coffee. This place has definitely made a name for themselves! Parking space is limited so arrive early to get a parking spot! For a small space, the flavors do pack a punch. You are able to select two broths and we opted for the AYCE option. The Tom Yum broth was a rich sour and spicy broth from its instant noodle brand but with a lot less salt. The umami was great! The BBH is a spicy beef broth that was a lot spicier and zestier, great to soak the meats to get amazing flavor! The portions in this place for meats were huge! In most places we'd expect to automatically order within the first 2-3 minutes of receiving our meats, but this took longer. They definitely know how to spoil each guest with the large portions and it was layered on plate very nicely too!Our server was amazing who checked in on us often even tho she was the only server serving 6-8 tables, she's got her game face on! Much love and respect to this place, I can't wait to come back!

First time to dine here. We tried the AYCE and were not disappointed. You can get two types of soup broth. We chose the miso soup and spicy tonkatsu soup. Both were flavorful; the miso was really good while the tonkatsu was not super spicy. It was also also good when you mix both broths. As for the meat, both the angus ribeye and kobe beef were super soft and tasted really good. Our server was very accommodating and gave us big portions every order. We were also seated immediately and the service was great. I highly recommend try this shabu place.
